So here's my take on Level One: A Diabetes Game. I've tested a bunch of educational health apps and this one is one of the better ones I've seen. The game-based approach makes learning all the diabetes essentials way more engaging than dry textbooks or videos. It's got a good mix of challenge and learning, and the developers have clearly put a ton of work into making the content comprehensive yet accessible. That said, it's not perfect - the progression can get a bit grindy at higher levels, and the ads are annoying if you don't pay. But overall, I'd say it's a really solid option for type 1 diabetics or their caregivers looking to level up their diabetes management skills in a fun way.

Description

Been using Level One: A Diabetes Game for a couple months now. It’s basically an educational game that teaches you all the key diabetes management skills in a fun way. Looked kind of boring at first but it’s actually pretty solid.

Here’s what you do – there are tons of bite-sized levels that cover stuff like dosing insulin, using CGMs, dealing with lows and highs, and more advanced stuff like managing ketones and exercise. It’s got a nice variety and the challenges ramp up gradually, so it doesn’t feel overwhelming. Took me a while to figure out some of the more complex features but they’re useful once you get the hang of it.

Look, if you’re dealing with type 1 diabetes, you’ll probably get a lot out of this app. It’s not perfect – the ads can be annoying if you don’t pay – but overall it does a great job of making diabetes education actually fun and engaging. Worth checking out for sure.
