Reviews for 2ndLine - Second Phone Number

← Back to 2ndLine - Second Phone Number

I just started using this app after swapping from textnow, by far so much better than its sister app. One concern is that when im on a call at times, it will cut out and play music or drop calls.. but i also dont live in the best area for connection, even if you're on wifi. Another concern is all the app pop ups when you are typing and just randomly in general. That was the major reason why i swapped from textnow to 2nd line. I would like more customization and it would be nice if the layout wasnt exactly the same as textnow. Definitely not a bad app.

So far, it seems to work alright, but I don't like apps that attempt to hijack my phone. It acts like it's the most important thing in my phone, and don't appreciate that. I've also noticed that unless you let it be the default, then you have to keep the app open all the time in order to get calls and messages to come thru... Having apps open like that bogs down the system. Super Irritating.

Calls come through, but I'm not notified of most texts. Ads are frustrating because I can't pick up an incoming call while the ad is playing (missing calls). Suddenly the app says I've violated the terms of use and my acct is frozen, and my number has been disposed of. No indication of what they think I've done. Customer service is only available by email and hasn't opened mine (according to my email tracker) that I sent 2 days ago. Uninstalling.

I love this app. I pay $9.99 a month to use the premium version. It works great as a second line for my business. When calls come in for this secondary line, it shows it's coming through the app, so I know it's a business call so I can answer appropriately! I can text customers and send them pictures or links to my website or anything else. In other words, this '2nd Line' app works exactly like a secondary phone line as if I went through my cell phone carrier, but it's much cheaper!

The app generally works well but there are some hiccups. For instance, when I add a number as a new contact, sometimes their profile picture will be used as their avatar, sometimes not. Sometimes it will be there for awhile and then, it'll disappear from the app. The only way I've found to get it back after it's disappeared is to delete the text messages and start over. That's definitely suboptimal.

Update: This used to be the go to app for a "2nd line". I have been a paid customer for a few years and things have been great. Now all of a sudden I have to have 'credits' to make certain calls INSIDE the US. This is why I relied on this app where I didn't have to buy a second line. Can't contact anyone. Still to this day, no remedy has been sought for the problems I've had since first contact. Deleting off my phone.😖

This is only phone number app I've found that supports group SMS. I was impressed with the app overall and it consistently delivered all my messages quickly, unlike some apps which drop or delay messages arbitrarily. It lost one star because the $10/month charge seems quite steep compared with apps like Burner or Skype which are in the $5-7/month price range. I'm not sure that group SMS is worth the extra $3-5/month. I'd also like to a see a pay-as-you-go pricing model where I reserve a phone number and then pay per message or per minute beyond that. I use my non-primary numbers rarely enough that unlimited usage is overkill.

I run a business from the 2nd line I subscribed to and I am a paid subscriber. Last night I got locked out of signing in. I contacted support and they told me that I violated their terms of use, which I never have. The developer can't fix the bug and is lying in their responses to others over violating TOU. Just check the recent negative reviews. They can't fix the issue, so they are choosing to lie to their customers instead. Deplorable.

Used to work perfectly. When I installed the most recent update my number suddenly expired for no apparent reason. No option to log in, I am forced to the pick a number screen every time I open the app. Forced to pick a new number, no other option. Once I did so, I could clearly see the texts I sent this month along with a new message from 2nd line saying I lost my number because my account has been inactive for too long. Can't make that make sense.

I continue to use this app, although it's just TextNow with a slight difference. It has never cost me a dime! The ads never interrupt a phone call or prevent making the call after you press the call button. Wifi is easier than bathroom. If they have a bathroom, they have wifi. if you know where to look. This app solves alot of problems. If you use it once a month you don't lose your number. Also works well with sim cards. All the apps work this one is very reliable now.

Not reliable at all! Decided to use it for my travel. Created a number and texted to myself to test that it works. Was able to get the sms. Maybe a week later, I got a popup that my number was revoked and transferred to another account, which was weird without even any notification. Ok. I tried to get new number, but the app shows error message that I violated their terms of use and that I cannot get a number. How this even possible if all i did is just send single sms to myself:(

I've been an active user for a pretty minute now.... and I have no complaints. Eventually,I became a premium member but tbh, the offered free version is sufficient and easy enough to navigate. I use it as my personal business phone number. It's one of the few REALLY free apps without bullying you with paywalls. You're also able to personalize the theme and colors to make it feel more like YOURS! 5 ★'s well earned!

Awesome! Does exactly what it says it does. Absolute free. I've tried dozens of other "free" calling apps but those were all scams requiring you to sign up and share your email address and agree to all sorts of invasive permissions before you even open it, or force you to buy time after a trial period of 3-7 days, force you to play games & watch ads for more calling credits. Not 2ndLine. This app is simple, free, no strings attached. U can upgrade for $ but I only use the free version.

I've had the same number since 2013. I use free version and I have to say, it works well. I have people that think this is my actual phone number, lol. The app can be glitchy if you make alot of calls. I just use it for mainly text messages and as a alternate number for certain situations if they need a contact number for whatever reasons. But the new software updates have improved its use over the years. Otherwise, great app whether you get the free version or paid.

Love the free app. Great for keeping personal info safe & having an extra line to separate business & personal numbers. The calling feature is sometimes sketchy, especially if you don't have a great signal. Sometime's it won't ring & goes strait to voicemail. Texting can be slow. I'll get texts hours after they're sent & no notifications, I'll open the app & have multiple new messages. For a free app though, it's great to have option.

Been using it for 3 years! ❤️ it is very simple and easy to use. I have had the same number and I only have the free plan. I don't make very many calls but I probably make one or two calls a day on the line and it always works good. You do need good cell service or wifi. I love it because it is free. It does have ads that pop up between calls, but that has never been an issue for me. It is also great for texting and you can send photos and even short videos. I would rate at 6 Stars 🤩

Absolute dirtbags. Had number for years. Paid for it for a long while then went back to free. Later, started warning to use number every few months to keep it. Then every month. Then they silently stopped notifying you at all. Over this whole time they jacked up the paid plan by a huge amount. Today, they took my number away for good, with no notification. Stay away unless you want to pay more for a 2nd line than you do for your main number!

This app has been great for me. I love being able to save the number and use this on multiple devices. Customer service was quick to respond by email support when I was wanting to port my number over. Great alternative to purchasing a regular line, or for use when phone is having issues (wet, lost, all that lol) I use it for business and the call quality isn't great, but texting is quick and efficient.

Terrible way to operate. It cancels the lines far too frequently and then does not allow you to see past texts so you can retrieve the number so you can text them back. Absolutely horrible app the does not allow for infrequent use of once a week or so. They could easily change this setting to 30 days but they choose not to This is the main reason for the 1 star rating. I'd give zero if I could as this policy is abhorrent.

I used to use this app and it worked fine. The ads were somewhat annoying as it interrupts every other interaction, but it's free. I'm trying to use the app again. It is stuck in a loop asking for my email and then press and hold to confirm you aren't a robot. It just keeps repeating this over and over again. The app isn't usable as a result. I cleared the cache and data, yet it still didn't work. I uninstalled the app and reinstalled, still doesn't work. This is on a Samsung Galaxy Note10+
