Reviews for aCar - Car Management, Mileage

← Back to aCar - Car Management, Mileage

Just like others above, I have been a long time user. Was a great app when I started with aCar, changed phones a couple times and it moved just fine. Upgraded to a new phone over the weekend and I have a choice to subscribe or be bombarded with ads. I just do simple tracking of my gas usage for personal use. I have no need to get a subscription. Adios aCar, you were a great app while it lasted.

I have had pro for years, was about to subscribe to premium until I realized it hasn't been updated in a year and a half. Lately it seems to occasionally lose the pro key and start giving ads and not allow location info. I'd subscribe if it was being maintained and I could hide the PDF and image entry fields so I wouldn't have to scroll past them every time I fuel up.

Update. They were able to guide me to select the folder "zonewalker-acar" when prompted to create a folder all of my data was intact. Why they wouldn't put this promt in the update instruction is beyond me, but everything is back to normal. I've been using aCar for years and all of a sudden it acts as though I have just installed it asking me to create a folder. It's a good thing I used this app to keep track of all maintenance and expenses on several vehicles because it's all gone now.

I purchased the app many years ago. I thought it was an okay app that was worth the purchase. Since upgrading my phone, my license didnt transfer and I discovered that it didnt matter anyway. it is a subscription now, which doesn't much bother me if it was worth it. the app has become confusing and difficult. I'm going back to a paper logbook, or looking for a better, non-bloatware app. Fuelly took an okay app and ruined it.

Latest update caused this thing to be completely unusable. I've been using it for a years and suddenly it prompts for new storage location and it now crashes when I try to put in anything. I even reset the app several times and changed the file location like some have mentioned but it freezes when it starts to sync with the server or even local backup... What the heck. At this point the app is completely useless until they fix this. I've tried different save locations and it still gets stuck.

Thanks to aCar, I've only missed recording a few fill-ups in over a decade. I'm sure there are "better" or "prettier" apps for this purpose, but aCar has been consistent and flexible enough for everything I've wanted to track. It's been great to be able to quickly answer questions about "when did that part break?" Or "where did I get that part from?". Unfortunately, the latest update no longer honors my purchase of the "Pro" version. Hopefully it's a simple error that gets resolved soon!!

I'm a long-time pro user (10+ years) & have thousands of vehicle records. There've a been a few small issues over the years but have worked through them. I backed up my data routinely, and I've switched phone handsets successfully several times over the years. All good... Until version 5.4.x. Like others have complained, loading data is painfully slow. File backup and restore functions no longer work. I've lost years of records. Support response is lacking. I'm now searching for a replacement.

Keeps crashing since the latest update. It used to be reliable, quick, and efficient. Now it takes 10 minute's to enter a record and have all attached files saved properly. Slow to open record's. Might be time to start looking for something better. Hope I don't loose all my data for the past 5 years. Cannot edit records to add photos or pdf. Keeps crashing app when you try.

Was a decent app, I paid for it back when it was Donation only. A few month ago, it started making me re-register my donation code (a ridiculously long hex string) every week or so. Finally got a response from Fuelly, which was basically "Google changed things and we can't fix it without rewriting the whole program". I'm pretty sure that wouldn't be the answer for a subscription user. Expect no real support and tons of ads. We all pretty much knew Fuelly would kill this and they did.

DO NOT PURCHASE! Like many others, I had previously purchased the pro unlocker for aCar. It was a good app for many years. Unfortunately, Fuelly no longer recognizes that I've purchased the pro version and requires subscribing to a $5 per year subscription. I'm done with this product and recommend finding a better solution than what Fuelly is offering here.

App used to be great. Now it's terrible. 7/18/2023. 5 plus year user. Totally unusable now. Un-installed due to phone warning the app was spying on my banking information. Recently installed again and it has been 2 days trying to sync my past information. Meanwhile there is no information on history of my vehicles available. My wife has the non updated version. I'll be exporting the data off of it and finding a new tracking system.

This review is outdated. Since the acquisition by Fuelly, this app has gone downhill. They've decided to force users to use their service even when we paid for the original. Was 5 stars, now 1 because 0 isn't an option. aCar is the single best app of its class I have found. As a technology consultant, I drive a lot so my car essentially *is* my livelihood. Having a single place where I can track maintenance performed, what's due and how much things cost is extremely helpful.

Acar was great until it was bought by Fuelly. Now it sucks. Fuelly sucks and forces you to sign in to their account when there was never a sign in needed before and now even though cloud sync is turned off, it continues to try and sync and drains the battery. There is no need to sync since the app can be backed up much better on its own to dropbox. *edit - app is 100% garbage. I recommend "my fuel log2" way better!

When I aCar first came out I liked it so I bought the pro version. Now I find that the developer has sold out his original customers and has filled the app with annoying ads. I plan to create a spreadsheet version which will be updated on my desktop with a copy on my cell for reference. I rate this app with 1 star only because a lesser rating isn't available.

I have used this app for about 10 years I think. Recently it just stopped working. Others said it got "upgraded" and now cost $ monthly. It was literally my favorite app on my phone... now won't load history or allow me to enter anything. To me it is worth $5 per year because IT IS my favorite phone app. So I paid for it and nothing changed. Still won't let me see my history or enter anything new. FIX IT PLEASE! Remove the last upgrade or something! And you can't export into excel like it says!

App seemed really useful, so I bought the one year subscription. Then I tried to use it. It's not quite functioning yet. The way odometer is enforced in service records makes it impossible to enter data from the past accurately, or even multiple services at the same location. This is a breaking error. Quick fix is to turn off validation and just order by odometer. But I literally can not accurately enter service records. Which was the whole point.

I've used this app for years. It's pretty comprehensive. I wish that the charts would show side by side comparisons for my two vehicles. Addition: 5 month's after this review, this acar app lost every entry past 11/23 to present. I deleted the two vehicles and added them back under different names. Now, with ONE initial entry, this App will not stop syncing (it went on for over two hours) . Support proved pointless.

Used to be a great app. Even bought the pro upgrade. But that was 10 years or so ago when it was aCar. of course some assinine company bought a great product and ruined it. Now you can't do a thing without sending your data to their company. Piss off fuelly, I've deleted it. But my fault for not reading the reviews, but I assumed a great app would only be improved, not destroyed.

we'll see if it gets any better. tried to find out what an upgrade to PRO will get me...FAQ says to click icon to find out....all I see icon to upgrade to PREMIUM....and still doesn't tell what that gives me. not sure if PRO is supposed to be the same as PREMIUM, but I do know that they are not the same words. seems like a simple thing fix, but given that they didn't catch such a simple mistake, I'm not sure I'll get my hopes up.

I've been using aCar for.... Oh geez, since a couple years before it was acquired by Fuelly. Bought the premium version and everything. Fuelly came in and didn't really change anything about it, despite everyone's fears. They added a couple neat features, and introduced a "premium" subscription tier which, to be honest, at less than $5 **a year**, I really have no complaints about. The only reason I haven't given 5 stars is because of Fuelly's lack of communication about the future of aCar.
