All it does is lose money. I initially added some, added a few round ups, and set a recurring payment for every month. It hasn't made me a dime. It just keeps losing. Update: since their generic and completely unhelpful reply, I'll share more results. It lost even more money (still) . I'm so glad I stopped recurring payments with you guys. I'm spreading the word about this app for sure. Maybe you guys will make it easier to close your account in the future instead of keeping people pissed.
Reviews for Acorns: Invest For Your Future
← Back to Acorns: Invest For Your FuturePulls change for each purchase. You can set up recurring monthly payments to grow it faster. Except.. the money it pulls doesn't come out immediately. It waits until its added up to $6-7 and then pulls it at once. 3-4 days after it checks your balance. So it has NO way of guaranteeing that your account won't be overdrafted (despite what they say). I got THREE overdraft charges ($29 each). Ended up paying just as much in fees as acorns was saving. Completely defeats the purpose.
I liked this app til I tried to get my money out. 3 months and I still don't have it. I have emailed them several times and they just keep sending automated emails back. Update. They finally did get back to me. And resolved the issue. I received my money. Thank you acorns for that. I added a couple stars. Would add more but the only way to communicate is through email and you use a lot of auto send type to deal with issues.
I was semi-pleased with this app despite one of my card's purchases never showing up in round ups. Now I'm not pleased, really. You can't do manual round ups anymore. Even going to the core account in the new app, I can't see transactions in the last 10 days that I have made.i turned off automatic round ups because I would be charged s round up for a pending transaction and when it went through. So twice for the same purchase. But despite that I was generally pleased. If I was low in my funding account, I would just turn it off until payday to avoid an overdraft fee. Bit they really need to bring the round ups back to an entire screen and fix why it's not showing any transactions in days.
Been waiting weeks to get this app started, it took forever to get verified which is whatever and then I'm all excited to get started and then my transers have been on hold for a really long time. Will re-rate once it gets going but I'm not happy with this progress. update: I ended up losing a bunch of money with this app, and then you lose another 30% when you go to get your money back. for every dollar I put in, I got 50 cents back.
It would be great if suggestions or predictions were available. For instance, if you invest 25 a month it will be this in 40 years, but if you start investing 75 it could be this. Also, it would be great if multiple recurring deposits could be scheduled at different times of the month from different accounts. Just a thought but overall great app. I love it
Great app for saving but if you set your account to round up, it will take round ups from purchases made by AND ANY DEPOSITS that go into the account. They specify round ups as coming from purchases only which is not true at all. After that, you'll have to wait for the funds to settle and then withdraw the funds which will take another week.
Horrible. Very unclear hidden fees when I first started. Every time I tried to use their help center, it would delete the log and end the conversation if you didn't keep the help center tab open. Meaning if they ask you a question about your account, you can't open any other part of the app, or it closes out the conversation. Just get a self investment app and do some basic stocks. Don't bother with this app.
It looks good, and I think it's a great way to make money over time. But I do have an issue. The whole point was to link your card for round ups, and you're able to manually link your bank account with it instead. But for some reason, doing that doesn't turn on round ups, and it keeps asking to link a card. Wouldn't manually linking your bank account would make it easier, so why doesn't it turn on Round-ups? It makes no sense and is inconvenient. Please fix the issue so it works for manual.
Makes you link your bank account then tells you what the monthly charge of using the app is but if you don't want to pay that (and why would you when plenty of others do the same thing for free) you can't go back to the previous page or get to another page to delete your bank info. Far as I can see so far I'm going to have to subscribe and then immediately unlink my bank then delete my amount account and cancel subscription.
started off like a good app, but since I started investing 7 years ago they hiked the price for the base level account 3x. and just in the past month or two they rewards on the base account by 35%, offering the previous reward amount ONLY if you pay 4x the monthly fee. (that's a 1200% increase from what I was paying 7 years ago, for those keeping count). I guess greed gets the best of people sometimes, but looks like I'll be taking ny business elsewhere since I wont pay more and get less. 👋
I cancelled my subscription in Jan, received my last charge in Jan, but then 9 months later my checking account showed the subscription charge resumed again without any notice. Logged into the app and it still said my subscription cancelation was pending, but no options to do anything else. Had to contact support to cancel and refund (still pending to see if it really went through). Seems pretty shady of acorns, wonder how many others are getting charged without knowing.
The app interface is fine except for not working. Constantly getting stuck on a loading screen that never load. Accounts saying they are connected and then saying "Oops, try again later." I've tried for 3 hours to get it to connect to investing, including disconnecting and relinking accounts, uninstalling the app, canceling and restarting the subscription. Everything I can think of and still not working.
Not great performance. I've been in for a little over 8 years, averaging less than 5% annual returns despite choosing high yield, high risk investment options. That includes the pandemic, but my IRA investments are doing much better than my Acorns account even through the same dip. Getting ready to pull the plug. I like the idea of the platform and it's incremental investment options, but it's really only good for smaller or beginner investors who want to dabble. You're not going to make a ton.
After spending a week with support trying to get my account set up for the first time, I ultimately decided that what the app offers isn't right for me. The round-up ideology is marvel, sure, but at the same time, I could just as easily take $5 out of my account and invest it elsewhere without having to pay the $12/month fee. Thank you again to the support team for trying to help, though.
Had the rounding up and daily withdrawal both active. not once did it round up any purchase and the daily withdrawals were very sporadic and never increased my acorns account balance. Even after a few months of having this app and taking my money, my account stayed the exact same $20. So I cancelled my subscription, it's been over a month, the cancellation is still pending and they haven't given me any returns on my "investments".
Never using this again and will be cancelling my account. My card expired at the end of last month. Instead of making sure the card arrived before it expired, since it takes 14 days, the card was shipped late and I was left without a working card for seven days. Even after getting the card I'm locked out of it and tech support is less than useless. Never trusting my money with you ever again.
Seemed great at first, but then I tried to open a checking account and it was all downhill from there. The ID and address verification system is broken. Email support just put me through a feedback loop for weeks, gaslighting me about whether I uploaded the necessary documents, which I did many times. And once I got fed up with the lack of support, predatory policies kept me from cancelling my account before being billed again. Avoid at all costs. They'll treat you like trash and profit from it.
The round ups are really inconsistent. I linked my account and activated round ups and the weekly investment but the only consistent debit was the investment. When I checked on the app it showed it hadn't updated activity in 5 months. I keep having to unlink and relink my account for the round ups to activate. If this continues I'll just go back to a normal savings since this isn't really worth it otherwise. It's supposed to be an automatic thing I shouldn't have to constantly check.
It's a decent app for what you get. The gold plan offers very little compared to Robinhood (and it's more expensive), so if I had to do it over, Id choose them. very little stock and etf options all things considered. other apps just blow it out of the water with choices and control. the customer service takes forever and calls are, of course, outsourced to people who have hardly any control over what happens. rarely, are complicated issues resolved. good for set it and forget it invest
