App has greatly improved - my only suggestion would be a notification if an alarm is triggered. Currently you only get one for a "burglary" alarm - would love if I could get a push notification when the local alarm is going off instead of only getting a notification for the monitoring center getting a notification. I.e. if the system is armed stay and I open a door my phone should say "alarm going off" or something similar so I can press it and disarm.
Reviews for ADT+
← Back to ADT+Terrible app. I can't access anything now. It constantly logs me out and now it won't log me back in. It asks for my email and password and after it accepts my credentials, it starts loading like it's going to open up the app but it glitches out and takes me back to the log in page. I know my credentials are not the problem because I can log in online just fine. Also, I'm paying for nest aware through ADT and the app would say that I'm unsubscribed. I hate this app.
ADT makes it sound like their app is so great and wonderful however if you have cameras at your house, do not expect to be able to actually use the video option through ADT+ app. It is horrible. you can't use the zoom function ever and 85% of the time, you'll only have a black screen with no video. You'll need to download a separate app to use the video function. After we had the system installed, that's when we were told by ADT that their app sucks.
App freezes occasionally. I thought it was because I left before activated. Seemed to have worked for awhile while waiting, but now it's freezing occasionally again. The only way to get it to work is to delete the app and reinstall. UPDATE: Really disappointed this app is worse since the 10/29 update. Need to constantly delete and reinstall to get it to work.
App doesn't work at all. Unable to delete devices, add new devices, the older generation cameras so not integrate, support is a joke. I am returning all the equipment and finding another security company. No, I will not be emailing ADT. I was on the phone for 4 hours yesterday after spending all last weekend on the phone as well. I'm done. Just placed the order for a Ring system.
The most incompetent business I've ever delt with. After 10 days, I still can't get into the app or use the equipment. All I need is the link, but they aren't competent enough to send it & want me to wait another week for someone else to send it. Now I'm waiting for a call back to cancel this severly lacking system & directions to return this unused equipment.
Terrible app! It fails at notifications. There is literally one notification type, covering "trivial" to "alarm is sounding". You can't customize the sound in the normal Android settings; instead, you choose in a clumsy in-app picker which doesn't include all sounds and doesn't play the selected sound (!). Every time you switch back to the app (even after 1 second), it forces you to enter your PIN. You can't turn off the long series of beeps when setting "Stay" mode (everyone must be awake!).
App informed me it couldn't find the adt account I bought the system with. Prompted me to enter the email attached to the account. Upon entering the email, the app emails me an email saying to "click here" to continue. The "click here" hyperlink isn't a hyperlink. It is just underlined blue text. Since I can't progress to accessing and managing my system, this app is functionally useless. I want to remove a malfunctioning sensor, and apparently, this app is the only way to do that :(
There is no way to make your phone alarm when the home alarm goes off. The best it can do is sent a little push notification which cannot be separated from the useless "system armed" "system disarmed" notifications, it's all or nothing. It's extremely difficult to figure out how to do anything in this app and there is no documentation, forum or internet community to explain any of it.
Worst app I've ever used. Rapidly rotates between portrait and landscape orientation without touching the phone. Doesn't appear it can even be used in portrait mode, which is remarkably disappointing. The entire experience with ADT has been remarkably disappointing actually. Can't add devices to the home, can't get an agent in the phone to buy new devices the hard way, the system will "exit practice mode automatically after I days" 6 weeks later and still in practice mode... -3000
Slow, not user-friendly. Unable to change some annoying settings. Get alerts whenever someone arms the system, but cannot separate those alerts from motion detection or other trouble alerts, so I don't want to hide them for this app. 45 seconds is the lowest arming time, way too long for me. I can never tell if one of the sensors is working. Overall, a MAJOR downgrade from the Nest Secure. I got it for free and still want my money back, that's how trash this app/system is.
I only use the app to arm\disarm the system, and it can't even get that right. Oftentimes, when I set the system to Away, it ends up setting it to Stay, so I have to disarm my system and reset the system to Away. This is very inconvenient because I am usually on my way out, but now I have to wait another 60 seconds to see if the system sets the correct status before I actually drive away. I also find it very annoying by the fact that I need to disarm the system before I can get into Settings.
The entire app feels like it had half of any effort put into it compared to the Nest app when I used it for home security. Google gave us a decent offer to try ADT+, and after having it for a year, it's not worth any money. The hardware is trash and app it so poorly thought out. Not to mention anything you want to do with ADT, including buying more devices, requires you to call customer service.
The app is horrible. I have been logged out of my account, so I can not set my alarm away from home. When trying to log in, I keep getting an error message that states something went wrong. There's nothing on the app that has a link to speak to or chat with anyone from the app itself. When going to the website, the chat person claimed the couldn't help and sent me to call the 800 number in which I was told was outside of their operating hours and hung up. Horrible.
Save your sanity and take the $200 Google Store credit. This app is worthless and impossible to navigate, especially if you don't use the default text/display size on Android (I use small, ALL text is a single character wide vertical column). Took forever to get sensors linked, settings are buried in menus on menus, I keep getting emails everytime it notifies and I can't login to turn them off from a computer, app has no option. Pure incompetence, doubt it'll be monitored effectively either.
Has been great for the first 10 months. now, the battery on the detectors are low and I cant find any way to silence the warning. Hello, if I can see updates on the app dont BEEP AT ME EVERY FEW MINUTES. Dont get me wrong, everything else has been fantastic but please let me silence the alarm that started at 3am so I can handle it *later*. Unbelievable for a security company of this caliber.
For a new app, it gets the job done - you can arm/disarm, create rules and alerts...however it asks for your pin far too often. You also can't get to the settings if the alarm is armed, not really sure why. I came from the Nest Secure world which was discontinued a couple years ago. Google aligned with ADT for a self service type alarm system, however it pales in comparison to Nest Secure. The biggest benefit to this system is the integration with Google Home which you can't get with others.
I like to help with software development, and I am working on my Bachelors degree in software development. I am a bit leary of exposing any information as small leaks go relatively unnoticed until a larger leak develops. Not just the size but unintend exposure can occur as a result as well. If it is on a server with any type of access, then it becomes can be exposed in multiple ways.
Majority of notifications come after the fact, rarely in time to actually act on them (doorbell, package notifications...) Or we get a notification that someone is at the door, but there is nothing in the pulldown notification and the app doesn't connect until waaay after the event. Have a "slightly" better experience just using the Google app to manage ADT events, but far more reliable than this app. Already looking for an alternate system to switch to when our contract expires
I have used multiple DIY security systems and this is BY FAR the worst. Overpriced, app doesn't load half the time, almost zero alert customization compared to other systems, when one of your sensory batteries gets low the base will chirp EVERY 10 SECONDS until you change the battery, with no way to dismiss the alert (better hope you have CR2 and CR123As laying around), and ADT is awful to deal with. It's so bad I'm considering taking a $1,500 loss to get rid of this system after just 4 months.
