We have 2 devices, an Airthing and an Ecoqube. We have had them side by side for over a month as well as using them apart. They aren't even remotely close in readings. The Ecoqube responds quickly to changing conditions such as an open window. The Airthing doesn't. The Airthing often goes the opposite direction of the Ecoqube as well. We have done other tests, such as running an exhaust fan at high cfm. Ecoqube responds correctly. Airthing does not. Airthing gets one star for updating software.
Reviews for Airthings
← Back to AirthingsDoesn't sync with my devices. Went back to the old app. I liked the old data visualization better anyway. Edit to respond to the developer: I don't want to troubleshoot your app. That's work and frankly what I paid _you_ to do when I bought the device. For the price of the device, the app should work as expected.
The sync fails. After being forced to update to this app my devices haven't successfully synced. The app is useless. Going back to the wave app while it still exists! I have followed every article on their website and the syncing still doesn't work. I have even completely reset my devices and they sync once and never again after that. Pretty piss poor products for the amount of money they cost!
Unable to add device. Trying to push add button and nothing happened. Simply it doesn't work at all. Updated: Customer service contacted me right away to help fix issues with the app. I decided to try one more time myself. I deleted and re-opened my account, then uninstall and re-installed the app. After that I was able to add my device and so far it works OK now
I received an email requesting me to install this new app and uninstall their old app. This app couldn't sync data to my air waves gen 2. After several hours of trying to get my devices to sink, I finally was able to perform syncs (by reset Bluetooth connection). However, my latest data still show yesterday to midnight. No data from today, yet app says data synced. Arghhhh.
don't uninstall your old app. it actually works better than this one. it tells me it can't connect to my devices on the new app, but when I go back to the old one, works just fine connecting to everything don't get me wrong, I'm a new technology adopter and the new feel of the app is fine, but this app feels like it didn't go through testing. connection to devices is a key element, there should not be this many people having the same issue if the software and testing was sound b4 release.
I've had a Wave for a while before I realized it had a Bluetooth feature. I set it up this morning and connected the app. As soon as it connected it automatically began updating the device firmware without a confirmation prompt or informing me that it would be destroying over a year's worth of Radon data without backing it up first. I feel like that would have been really good to have and now it's starting all over again.
This app is not better than the existing one it's replacing, which is very frustrating. Syncing is extremely slow (when it happens at all), and even after syncing, the app says "No recent data" and doesn't show anything for the last 3 weeks. This is with a Wave Plus. I hope things improve before the old app is fully deprecated.
The new app (that we were forced to change to) really sucks!!!! main problem is viewing the graphs one at a time instead of being able to scroll through vertically. Radon levels in my area changes drastically with air pressure changes, and seeing that simultaneously on the graphs was a value that has been lost with the new app. NOT AN UPGRADE!!!!
Rarely syncs. App says it is the current version. App says device firmware is current version. After multiple attempts to sync, it says it is up to date, but says it's offline and gives no data in the web dashboard, but appears to display current conditions. Hasn't updated in about 5 months. I was pretty excited when I first got it, but nothing but trouble and I'm very disappointed and I feel like I wasted my money. Looking for a replacement.
I have to backtrack on a recent 5 star review of the new app. I like the layout, BUT I get a ton of connection issues...every 4 out of 10 times. Old app is still installed on my phone and has ZERO issues finding the device for a reading. updates also prevents multiple readings (one after the other) within a short period. You're forced to wait a few minutes before you can get a new reading....that is...if you get past the connection issues. The classic "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."
EDIT July 31, 2025. I've boosted my rating to 5 stars. They now allow downloading data by date. This is a massive improvement and keeps files a manageable size. I have a few minor issues with format but I cope easily. It has been perfectly reliable over more than two years. Graphics on mobile are very good and allow you to see a year's data or drill down to 3 hours. Highly recommended.
The new app is disappointing. Sure it syncs with the device, but it does not save the data at all times. Customer Service did not provide much assistance. let's hope there's an update to rectify the problem. Update: After 3 weeks, Customer Service did follow up to check on my status. I'm not sure what they did, but for the last couple of weeks, data is now saved and shown in the charts. I appreciate their help and communication, even offering to send a new unit.
newer app is disappointing. no battery level indicator and the stats are clunky and congested. prior version of app showed battery signal right on front and then when you look at device it clearly shows readings for each parameter. no fluff no confusion. received an email that old app will be discontinued but I will continue to use it as long as I can even if no longer supported.
There are some inconsistencies in data display and occasional holes in data sampling. These kind of bugs raise questions about whether there are hidden bugs in data capture. Also, they have an option for turning off 'offers, news and tips', but they still show ads for their products in the app when this is turned off. The app unnecessarily requires Internet access to work, a big problem for me. There is no app option for data download, you must use their website for that.
old app was better, when they cut over to the new app, they deleted all my data or didn't migrate it, so that's unfortunate as I've been using them for years. the new app is slower than the previous, the graphs are more crayon like in drawing and don't look as precise, they always need to pause to update and seems to favor Bluetooth now even though I have a hub, I'm missing one of my devices that's still visible in the old app, and devices drop off now with no warning of low battery.
Won't graph data... it will sync and tell me the latest readings, but when I try to view the data graph over the last 24hr or 7 days (or any timespan)... it just says "no data". it worked fine for 2 days, then stopped working. very buggy, and disappointing. I might have to return the sensor and buy a product that works better (yes I've tried restarting phone, it successfully syncs, etc).
The device appears to work fine. The app is quite frustrating. it offers no search function. It notifies me I have messages to read but offers no way to access them. Then, the message notification goes away. The app offers tips that have a 'Learn More' button that either gets ne nowhere, to a message there is a o problem and I have no access, or in the one link that worked it offered a poor follow up.
I love the updated devices list, which has mini graphs for each device right there in the list. the format is no longer just a list of the devices and their current readings, but more like mini info panels, all laid out next to one another for a quick gathering of not just current numbers, but the trends. Overall, Airthings have been wonderful. not just the devices and their software, but the company and its top notch customer support. I can't recommend them enough!
This app worked great until about a month or two ago, and it just stopped connecting to the internet so you can't see your device. It just doesn't update, even when you reset it. Apparently they know about the problem but just haven't fixed it. I'm not sure how a company just doesn't fix the connectivity for an internet based app, but it basically renders the device useless for anything accept viewing radon levels on the device.
