Do not upgrade! I enjoyed the basic version for many years, and I had no advertisement notifications. I upgraded to the paid version a few months ago, and now I get at least 5 every week sent to my phone. They also still have ads in their app. It's ALL their own ads!!! I emailed them and they said they didn't know how to turn those off and would try to work on it. This is ridiculous.

UPDATE: The ads have made this app unusable I'm afraid to say.. It's found a way around my adblocker so this has made me search for a replacement. It may be inconvenient, but to my surprise, there's quite a few others that appear even better, so the move is certainly worth it! For example, Alfred's paid features like zoom & HD recordings are free with many apps, best part, they contain ZERO ADS!! NO INTRUSIVE BS TO BUG YOU EVERY 5 SECONDS! HOORAY!! Thx Alfred developers ur greed has helped me!!

Alfred was a five star app for me and I loved it. However, features such as Playback and Events have recently been removed from the standard functionality and instead have been replaced with an annual/monthly subscription service. I don't recall being notified of that change, but it's possible I missed it. Either way, it's pretty disappointing and drastically changes how useful the app is for users that don't wish to subscribe to yet another service. I'd much rather a one time payment.

Worked great for years. Didn't mind the ads, I know they needs to make money. Recently we set it all up to watch our cats while we were gone for a couple days and was pretty surprised to see I can't watch events (yes, Alfred, I know you can download each event one at a time, but it's still just purposefully frustrating the user to force us to go to your subscription. Well I'm tired of everyone wanting infinite money. If you wanted a one time fee I'd pay it) Going to find an alternative.

I like it, however, it does disconnect quite often. I recently thought I'd sample an upgrade, thinking that might be better, but no, it still disconnects. It seems every time there's something going on that I want to view live OR replay, those are the times it disconnects often. I do like how I am able to zoom in/out though, that's a cool benefit.

I have used this app for YEARS. I kept using it every time they added more and more ads to the Basic membership... (I know they've got bills to pay!) But now I'm expected to upgrade just to replay my events? I DON'T THINK SO. I was perfectly happy with the Basic membership until now. You can hardly call it "Basic" if you have to pay for one of the most important features. I'm not gambling away my safety just because this company got greedy. See ya'!

I've used Alfred for many years. Little by little, with the free version, things are taken away. An example is that I was able to playback short video instances . NOW to have that ability, Alfred is trying to force me to sign up for the paid version. I understand them wanting $, but they have had advertisements in their app.(Revenue). I guess it's time to search for another app (Competitor)

It's the best smartphone security camera app. period. Has 90% of the features a Brinks camera/app offers minus their outrageous costs or all the 🐂💩 that comes w/their confusing activation/sync method. All one needs is an unused smartphone, a power cord & nearby outlet, & a reliable wifi signal. And then after activating said camera via Alfred's fool-proof & stress-free QR code you'll be able to access your cameras from anywhere on the planet that has internet access.

Best Overall Home Security App available on the Play Store today! The most usable features and at a price you can't beat compared to competitors. They even have a free plan but for the few dollars they ask with one of their premium plans you can't go wrong. And do yourself a favor and order a hardware camera directly from them. You won't regret it. Best peace of mind you can purchase to keep an eye on your most prized possessions, security for your family, home, etc. I use this app the most! A+

Honeslty??? I cannot recommend this enough! I have a few older phones (less then 5 years old so decent hardware and cameras) and I came across this app on a PC Mag article. I decided to download it cause why not! First off, the free edition is actually super handy, if all you want is to have a camera that can do some recording and live viewing, then that's it for you! Plus the paid version is not that much and comes with a bunch of QOL features!

So far so good, and pretty simple to set up if you're not trying to do it on both phones at the same time. Due to a charging cable situation, I had to position the camera phone upside-down, but the video still shows in the correct vertical orientation. Works just as well as any motion sensor cam.

Can't do anything in the app without creating an account. There doesn't seem to be any way of using this over the LAN. All your video is routed through their servers. All I want is a local IP cam that works without the latency or security vulnerability of going through some third-party server. It works OK if you want a public web facing IP cam though as long as you can deal with the latency.

Awesome when it works and excruciatingly frustrating when it doesn't. I like to use Alfred camera on spare smartphones I have when I go on vacation to keep an eye on my apartment and pets. These last 2 vacations the Alfred camera app starts off flawlessly when set up before I leave and eventually error codes begin showing up after a few days already gone, rendering 1 or 2 smartphones useless for the remainder of my trip. There is no way for me to fix this when I'm already gone. Very aggravating

This app is great for what I use it for. I have it in my chicken coop to check that my chick's heat lamp is on. And when they are older it will be to make sure they are all in at night. It freezes up at times but it reconnects quickly, that could also be because of my wifi. the value is incredible though if you have an old phone laying around and need to keep an eye on something.

It's a great idea, but it doesn't work as well as it should, IMO. I pay for a subscription, too. ie-you can only view the last 8hrs in playback. The rest is erased. If something happened more than 8hrs ago, you must hope the exact moment was caught on Camara and recorded as an event. "Continuous recording" is misleading.

Still dealing with connection issues and random missing recordings... I will get the alert that there is motion and when I open the app, it says there has been a connection issue and nothing will be recorded for upwards of 5 - 10 minutes! A lot of stuff can happen in that amount of time and this happens at least once a day! It's unacceptable. Especially as a premium subscriber, I expect an app to perform as its intended.

I tried the paid version and even literally dancing in view, the program couldn't detect my movement, let alone identify me as a human. Despite being placed directly next to the router, the camera constantly disconnects, but will reconnect as soon as I open the app on the camera phone, so there's no reason for it to disconnect. Update: None of the troubleshooting provided changed anything

I've had Alfred for a while now. I started when they had no cameras to sell. Just use your phone. Over time, this app has become less and less worth using. I have multi-gig wi-fi with complete coverage of my home. Connection to the device is good, but doing playback now is a complete time waste. It's always freezing, and I have to close the app and go back in. The motion detection has decreased in reliability over time. Now, I can't even buy cameras because they are out. Time for a change!!

This is the worst security app I've encountered. It is full of glitches, first, if you turn the watermark off, it doesn't save and toggles back on when you turn your camera back on again. Second, continues recording is also broken as it doesn't always work. Third, the events recorded sometimes save sideways contrary to the cameras original position. Fourth and last, you can't view events when you switch to viewer on the primary device when switching from camera mode.

it is simple to install, and set up. Many different settings to set up your device with, although quite a few of them are Upgraded to pro settings. That is fine with me for now. The app is easy to understand and navigate, so any body could be using their old devices to secure their whatever wherever. . oh yeah it is free well the version I am using for now.Just need good WiFi and a power source , and you're in business.
