I am so frustrated with this app. When I try to connect devices to my account there is no clear way to do so. I have three of the same tablets in the house but I cannot for the life of me get my daughter's tablet to connect with the profiles I've set up with the other tablets. It is infuriating how many hours of my life I have wasted. I wish Amazon was compatible with Family Link which actually works as advertised. Amazon Kids is an app that totally sucks. Three thumbs down. Worst ever.
Reviews for Amazon Kids Parent Dashboard
← Back to Amazon Kids Parent DashboardWhile functional on its own, I have had a miserable time actually using this app. Scheduling is a joke. Want to give the kids more time tonight? You have to set the weekly schedule instead of overriding just tonight. Often, syncing parental policy changes is slow-to-never-happened. I've often had to sign into the device itself, which pretty much negates the need for this app, no? Also, where is the "Find My Device" functionality? As far as I can tell, this isn't even here. WHY?
for some reason I can't change the time anymore ...the only option I have when trying to adjust the time (manually or by the clock) is "clear" or "cancel" on the time. it's been a week or so , I've tried resintalling , clearing the cache/data, etc. annoying!!
Not user friendly at all. Hard to figure out and runs the user in circles. Honestly does not offer much control either. I've set up "educational app" requirements and she can still watch videos. I've blocked videos and she can still watch them! The age filter isn't accurate at all and allows access to items way beyond my kids level, but there's so much shared it would take hours to look through all of it and disable it all
Error. Whatever updates you're doing, the app is no longer working. When it does work, any changes I make regarding time changes for my child's device may or may not work. Look at Googles parental control for a chromebook. That works great. We've been using Amazon kids unlimited for 8 years now. You'd think after 8 years it'd be better:/
The screen time limits feature is an absolute joke, it doesn't work in any way. If I set it to an hour a day, it'll tell us that the hour has been used and the tablet is locked first thing in the morning. Setting certain hours for use doesn't matter, it'll either randomly lock the tablet and not allow any use or it'll ignore the set hours.
WTH is this? Not only does this not do what it's supposed to do and limit my child's actions on their devices, I can't even open the open the app to see why it's not working. This is an actual Amazon app? For real? Wow. I have too many Amazon products that keep glitching out from the fire sticks dying every 1-2 years and now this...Scared for the Blink cameras I just bought. Imagine they don't actually capture someone trespassing. Maybe it really is time to switch Apple compatible products.
I like using this to set up screen time rules. But occasionally when I try to change the screen time rule (like on holidays or snow days) it doesn't register on the tablet. That kind of defeats the purpose. It's connected to Wi-Fi so I'm not sure why it isn't registering. I like that I'm able to monitor exactly which apps they are on I also dislike how much Auto installed content there is. There are game apps that I cannot remove. I am not sure if that is an Amazon problem or due to this app.
Horrible, You can't trust this will block content you don't want. Pause feature never works. Does not allow Amazon prime videos even though you pay for it. doesn't make sense that they'd not allow their own programming, but will allow their competitors. I'm looking at an Android tablet as you can choose what you want. Most apps visible allow kids to download without permission, don't allow you to remove or hide and want you to pay for a subscription. learning apps are not free.
It's helpful buuuut.... it needs to let me customize more. Like if I want them to be able to only listen to music for a certain amount of time. Or I only want them to be able to use certain learning apps first or for a select duration. Or add more time temporarily without having to remember to change the settings back. Give me more options please
This app has never allowed app requests to be shown in the app. I never receive notifications. Since the other app was disabled the beginning of this month, I can no longer find app requests at all. I see another user mentioned they had to log into the account on a browser. However, this is a PAID service that no longer works the way it should. This issue needs to be fixed.
App requests never show up, and I've had this installed for months. I have to go back to the deprecated Kids+ app, switch to grown-up mode and approve them there. When that app is disabled in March, this is going to be even more annoying if it's not fixed, because I'll have to use a browser to log into Amazon and approve requests. Besides that, it's cumbersome to use in other ways and generally poorly organized, but that's nothing new.
This was great! I used to be able to easily go in and adjust things, allow apps, she how much time she's using on different apps etc. As of tonight it says the app isn't available in all countries, gives an error code and says to sign in with a different Amazon account. I only have one account! Plus I'm in the U.S.A. How does it happen that an app works for a couple year then says it's not available!?!?
Doesn't take into account idle time, making it pretty worthless. a few nights ago my daughter watched a show for about half an hour. when we switched activities, she pressed pause. I came back an hour later and noticed the screen was still on with the show paused. I turned off the tablet and checked the app, and sure enough, it says she was on the tablet for an hour and half. this makes it pretty unreliable since she will often watch for a bit, pause it, and move on to another activity.
I absolutely hate this app and kid's fire tablet. Clunky and unintuitive. You should be able to easily share content and adjust settings, but it feels like it's at least 5 extra steps to accomplish 1 task. The tablet gets clogged down with all the random apps and videos they have on there. It's ridiculous to have to pay for something so poorly designed and has such incredible lag time. We just purchased a new galaxy tab and can't wait to get rid of this app and fire tablet!!.
I switched to this from the Family Link app since we just got fire tablets for the kids. Here are the features this app lacks that Family Link has: 1. there is no way to set limits for individual apps. It's one time limit for everything combined. 2. there is no way to "always allow" certain apps (like books/reading or messaging for safety) once the time limit has been used up. 3. there is no easy option to add bonus time once the time limit has been used without altering the weekly sched.
It doesn't work. I tried to pause my kid's kindle from the app and there was no effect. I spent an hour online with tech support and they finally decided it was the device so I had to return the device and get a new one. The new one had the same problem so I guess this critical feature just doesn't work with kindles and just wasted hours of my time trying to Debug it.
The timer frequently doesn't work allowing our child WAY more tablet time than we intended. Once you restart the tablet, it will record the time appropriately and block her out, but not if you don't restart it mid-usage, daily. So if you choose this tablet and corresponding app, be sure you also have a secondary timer to monitor screen time. I severely regret this purchase.
Everytime I try to access settings it says oops something went wrong. It asks if you wanna send an invite for Alexa to video chat and it won't let me send it. It is super difficult to navigate. There is no dedicated support team to help so no one knows how to help when you call. Downloaded a hooked on phonics app and can't even add it to her tablet. What is the point of the app if it doesn't work.
There's an Over Abundance of content, so much so that filtering it can be a challenge. Amazon should further break down subjects / categories to make auditing easier. Right now, it's a seemingly Endless scroll through hundreds of items that are in no particular order. Searching 'helps' but the results are still mixed and unorganized.
