They never miss taken a payment on-time but 70% of the time the app does NOT work!! Haven't been able to get into my account for months and NO ONE will help!! Have to stand in line and have rep plug-in my email address everytime I make a purchase so I can never pre-purchase and get good seats!!
I will give this app 4 stars when you tell your customers you're charging them hidden fees. It used to be that you could order food ahead of time, for free. Now, you no longer have that option. What you offer is to have food taken to your seat & then you charge the persons card 3.55 for a fee. They don't realize it because you don't itemize the final cost at the end or tell them. 3 times I used this before I found out & all 3 times my food was late so I grabbed it at the counter. Very sneeky
The app makes it incredibly easy to buy tickets in advance of arriving (and order food for pick up at concessions, depending on the theater). It facilitates speedy lines or even helps to avoid lines altogether! Also, I love that I can watch trailers and learn about current and upcoming films with the info it provides about each movie. This app is a MUST HAVE, if you are a Premiere or A-list member!
Why is this app so awful? It doesn't handle any input for your profile at all, constant error loops. It says I'm signed in but any purchase asks me to sign in at which point it won't take my info. Won't send forgot password, won't let me sign up again. The UI (when it works) is pretty, and has a nice feel for browsing movies. The lag and errors make it impossible to use.
I don't know what's going on, but I keep getting error messages and "time is up we had to release your selections." These are after 20 seconds have elapsed. I've uninstalled, re-installed, gone from wifi to mobile data and back...to no avail. I'm going to have to cancel my A List membership. UPDATE 6/4/23 I have tried everything I know. I am unable to reserve seats or buy tickets online. Very frustrating!
if you're an a list member, im not sure how to purchase one ticket from your membership and one for someone else (friend/family) that isnt a child. ive been having to purchase the other ticket online without signing in. it would be nice to be able to do this. everything else is great. (i might also be somehow doing something wrong and not seeing some sort of option appear that would let me do this)
It's okay, convenient. But the choices for ordering snacks, food or drinks in advance don't seem to be a extensive as what's available at the theater. Also, as an "insider" we're supposed to be able to get up to 4 tickets online without a fee. Through the app, for two tickets I was charged a "convenience fee" of $3.99 and additionally, a "service fee" of $1.00. Talk about Nicole & dime-ing us to death like we don't already pay through the nose for the drinks and snacks.
This app is terrible. Half the time I open it, I get a "A network error occurred. Tap to retry." error, even though other apps work just fine. It's hard to manage multiple theaters, and it routinely advertises movies not available in my area. Seat reservation requests fail with no reason given. The app is also invasive, trying to use my location even when I'm not using it. It's pushy, always trying to sell me another ticket. It's more about data collection than easily buying tickets.
The most recent updates to this app make it better to use. Your stubs rewards and card can be accessed, you can buy tickets or cancel purchased tickets, see trailers and see trailers that played before your movie. You can also order food and snacks via the app to be waiting when you arrive. It's a must if you go to the movies at all, especially if you are a stubs member.
8/2024 Thus app gave me an error but charged we twice for tickets. It's super glitchy and has issues. I understand more people are streaming. This is not the way to get Stubs members back. App not working 4/2/19.....update 12/27/2019 This app continues to have issues on the Android platform. It spins and spins and takes forever to load. It's been performing poorly for 2-3 months. It still works, but be aware that you need to wait to get through the full ticketing process. Good luck!
In general the app works okay, but recently I've been having problems when I try to buy multiple tickets at the same time. The last two times I've tried to do that I get an error message. Also for some reason instead of showing how many tickets I'm getting at check out, it only shows you the number of tickets that you're paying extra for (not the ticket you get with your A-List membership).
used to be great and use friendly. ever since the update, you can't add stuff directly to your calendar, and you can't see how many movies you have used and have left. you can only see upcoming in the history, but the screen where you could see everything in detail is gone. also, it is much slower and sometimes needs to be closed and reopened to work. I also had a $50 gift card, and the money from it disappeared without me even using it.
love the app. it is quick and convenient. however, if I don't use it for more than like a day, when I open it again it gives me an error message saying the content didn't load or something along those lines, then I reopen it and it is fine, but having to reopen it almost every time I use the app is kind of annoying. fix that and you'll get 5 stars.
Finally reached my breaking point when, after specifically choosing a location with another, the theater I was ordering for shifted to another. I've had this issue several times before, but this time caused me to miss a show and plans with others. I can't recommend an app that I have to keep second guessing and double checking to make sure it's not changing entire theaters on me. I have no clue if this is just an issue with me or more systemic, but I'm tired of it
Can't make consecutive bookings with A list. We're paying more for 4 movies/week, but they make it very difficult to use more than 1 or 2. Frequently find back-to-back movies I would like to watch, but because the 2nd movie technically "starts" 10 minutes into the first movie they don't let me. But all I would miss is 10 minutes of ads. I would still be there for a whole 10 minutes of more ads before Nicole Kidman tells us to turn phones off and 2nd movie starts. Feels like a gym membership scam
This app is great! Makes it easy to order tickets so I can skip the lines & pick my sitting arrangement so I can sit exactly where I want with no fuss! My only issue is when attempting to upload a photo so I don't have to pull out my wallet for ID every time, I continue to get an error msg, whether I attempt to upload from my gallery or try to take a photo. Fix this & I'll give back those 2 stars.
Generally, I like the app and use it a lot..it has worked great. One thing that has started to really annoy me is that under the 'Now Playing', I always find a bunch of movies randomly arranged with ' Sorry no showtimes have been announced yet ..' in any theatre within ~25mile radius. If there are no showtimes anywhere near me, why is it under 'Now playing'. Put those under 'Coming soon' or take it out of the list. Atleast provide an option to filter out or put those at the bottom of the list.
I like that I can book seats in advance and order concessions before I get there. The app hasn't crashed in the few months I've had it. The Tuesday & Wednesday discounts are awesome. Everything else needs some work. Many of the movies listed as 'showing' aren't available in any theaters near me even for several weeks out - and I live in a major metro area with 5 theatres within driving distance. The reminder feature is inconsistent - shows up on some upcoming titles, doesn't on others.
AMC A-List isn't just the best deal in entertainment, it's one of the best subscription services of any industry. The only problem is that it spoils other services in comparison and makes you wonder how the rest of entertainment is dropping the ball. The app is great. It's detailed, it's layered, and navigation is so easy. Trailers, ratings, reminders, and perks at every level of membership. It's almost as if these guys know what they're doing. AMC really does make movies better.
