I love this app because of the spaced repetition concept. When I know card content and don't need to keep seeing, I click "good" and don't have to keep seeing. It's so much more efficient. Once you get through one full card deck, the amount of cards you need to study becomes significantly smaller because you're only seeing the cards that you rated as difficult. I use this for learning Spanish, studying for my Real Estate Sales License, military courses, CLEP testing, and scripture memorization.
Reviews for AnkiDroid Flashcards
← Back to AnkiDroid FlashcardsMy decks keep disappearing out of my collection... also, figuring out whether or not decks are well made is something of a hit and miss... even if they're rated well, sometimes they're just not very good. Either way, I like this app far more than dislike it. I would definitely recommend it to people needing something like it but it needs a bit of a tune up.
This app is absolutely the best you can get for flashcards. You can make them as you go (be sure to do double sided) or get a deck from someone else. The main advantage is it uses an algorithm to bring back cards you're likely to forget. So you might study a card on day 1, then 2, then 6, then 20, then forget it. Then it's back to day 1, then 5, then 17 and so on. You can tweak the values all you want, how quickly to bring cards back, reset very old cards, etc. This app is invaluable for on the go studying. That comes with a price of course, it has a very minimalist UI and expects you to put a little work in to get the most out of it.
Premium features for free! Always have to come back to this one, it can be customized every way you can imagine and syncs to the Anki desktop app via Ankiweb. Generally I create cards in the Anki desktop app and study in AnkiDroid, but it's easy to do quick edits in AnkiDroid as well, you can edit the card while you are studying and just keep going without losing your place. I think most people will do well to learn how to use the Anki desktop app first, then how to sync.
My #1 study resource. Many of my classmates and I can attest that Anki has gotten us through many med school exams. There are some features that require a bit of a learning curve to master, but overall it's a great and effective way to do flashcards at any time. Stable, customizable, free without ads - I'd recommend AnkiDroid to anyone looking to up their study game.
I didn't get Anki at first. I read the articles over the years and played with a few sample decks, only to put them away soon after. It was only when I learned that the beauty of Anki lies in *building* your own decks that it got me hooked. The combination of AnkiDroid on mobile + the desktop app companion is the perfect balance for me. And the ecosystem of 3rd party extensions gives you the ability of add new functionality, from code highlighting to custom statistics. Thank you to all devs!
I used this for 2yrs studying Japanese in uni and it worked back then. [Edit]: The Google Play store seems to have a policy issue with this app. My original review was 1 star because I couldn't access any cards/decks due to a missing permission. Since then a developer replied with a link to the github releases. I downloaded the full-universal.apk and installed it that way and it appears to work. Google Play store is getting weird with its policies. You can't even buy kindles on Amazon Shopping.
Just really helpful with vocabulary study and it also saves much space. I used to use many notebooks. But there are some glitches and after putting certain numbers of words in one deck, it started rejecting them and they were forced to go into a different deck. That was puzzling. But overall, it works great. I love it that my computer and phone sink.
Doesn't work. Many, many people have complained about the storage access bug making it impossible to use the app, but the only workarounds I've seen are ridiculous. ==UPDATE== I was able to uninstall, remove all local data, and reinstall. This worked. Luckily I had synced everything with AnkiWeb and was able to redownload my local files afterwards. It's a shame that this was necessary at all, but I think this is feasible solution for many people.
Exceptional piece of software that is fantastic for studying. Robust (plug-ins are widely available), has a big forum community so any questions you have can be usually be found (and if not, you can just ask), the user manual is well organized, and best of all it just works well--I've never had any issues syncing across devices, for example. I've never really had any issues at all, actually. King of flash card apps by far.
I love both the mobile app and the computer program. Cards are very customizable so you can create them in a way that helps you study best. I use it anytime there's something I need to study for. My grades have always looked great because of it, and my japanese is improving well. If you're unsure of how to edit card types or you don't want to go through the process of making them, you can download decks from the web.
Best app out there for any kind of repetition based learning. There is a web version, a pc version, versions for ios and macos, so handling decks between devices is really easy. User interface is simple enough to be intuitive but if you feel like it, you can really dig deep and make it your own with tons of settings to tinker with. There are also a lot of desktop extensions out there that require little knowledge to use but can offer a lot of useful or fun addition + open source + no adds 10/10
Super helpful for memorization. Gives you helpful stats. Uses proven psycholigical methods of memorization to help you learn the fastest and the fullest. Has many already built decks from the community to use when you don't want to make one yourself. Has a very easy and a very functional way to make your own deck. I would definitely recommend this app!
I can't imagine learning a new language without this app. You can create cards based on books you read, words you meet in real life, words from study sessions. You customize the translation as you wish. From the desctop version it is possible to add voice from several sources. The amount of further adjustments is enormous, so literally, you can create decks that are perfect for you. Then synchronize, and use your perfect decks in the app 😀
It was a little tempting to rate this app lower because it's not 100% intuitive. But it's honestly way more user-friendly that the PC app and still so full-featured. Equally important, it doesn't't bug you with notifications at all. It doesn't even ask you for all your personal info. And it isn't full of ads! Honestly, it's the gold-standard for apps. And there are updates!
(I'm doing a star because I don't hink I have used this app to it's full potential). I think this may be the only true free, digital flash card app (no add-ons or subs needed) that I've come across. It's not overly stimulating with colors and fonts, it is very much to the point. I'd recommend. Mt only request is a tutorial lol.
I use AnkiDroid every single morning, the most-used app on my phone. If you haven't tried SR (Spaced Repetition) learning then you're missing out. I have thousands of flashcards for language phrases, currencies, and many other things that are helpful for my travels and I keep them all fresh in my memory for 3-4 minutes a day! AnkiDroid is super flexible and also super easy to setup and customize, a rare combination. Highly recommended!
Absolutely wonderful app. I was duped by one of the fake Anki copy apps for longer than I'd like to admit (luckily they got no money from me), but I made the switch as soon as I found out and I am SO grateful. The simple UI is so satisfying. No predatory algorithmic slop. And it syncs across devices!! If I can't use a platform on both my phone and my computer, it's useless to me :P Worth noting that I use it for language learning and I don't need any complex features.
I've used this app for a few years now and it's been immensely helpful with memorizing whatever you can digitally write on a flashcards. I primarily use it for memorizing vocabulary and grammar rules in foreign languages but I could see it easily being used for anything you would want to memorize long term. Would recommend anyone studying to at least consider this as an option.
genuinely love anki 🫶🏾 makes my academic life so much easier because learning almost feels kinda effortless, like others might've said before. making cards takes a bit of time unless you buy a deck, but from there, all you have to do is be consistent in your review. there are so many ways to make cards and customize anki to suit your needs too! and it's free (thank y'all so much)!!
