Reviews for Anova Oven

The app has some weird quirks to it. I hate that is you adjust a temp it starts the timer over! Who wants that? Overall, the interface isn't very easy to use of you want to run it without a preset recipe. The Wi-Fi connect also gets spotty and then it will mess up the timer. A problem when you are proofing for hours. A lot of promise but not quite there.

Crashes constantly This app crashes constantly on my Samsung Galaxy s22. It will load a recipe, usually but not always start the recipe, and then it freezes up immediately. Eventually I will get a message asking whether I want to wait or close the app. Closing the app allows me to restart it and it generally picks back up where it left off, crashing again in a few seconds. I don't think I've completed a single recipe without it crashing multiple times. The oven is great, the app is a disaster

This app is so bad. It crashes all the time. Basically every time I use it it crashes. I spend 20 minutes creating a recipe. Start the cook and realize that one attribute of the recipe is wrong so I have to stop the cook and update the recipe. Doing that makes the app crash and loses the entire recipe so I have to start over. This happens every single time it's been about a week since I bought this oven. Unfortunately the app is absolutely required for the oven to work in any practical way.

Terrible, this app is completely filled with bugs, as well as the hardware. Now they want to charge monthly for it, are you kidding me, I have had the oven for 2 years and not a single bug has been fixed, the app still doesn't work, what the heck are they thinking. Garbage, I will never buy another one of their products again, I have spent over $1000 on their products and I regret every purchase. Never again...

I just received my oven, although it is beautiful I have spent the last hour trying to connect it to the internet. I follow the steps, I am told that the connection is successful but the wifi light continues to pulse and the app spools and then it takes me back to the pin in a never ending loop. I have been unable to find and troubleshooting guide to assist and have no idea how to move forward. Based on an earlier comment, I am on app version 1.0.39 (10405). Rather disappointing.

The quality control on this app is horrible. They released a bug that made it impossible to connect to the APO. First, it was an endless cycle of entering four digit codes. The next patch (12/15) fixed that but now I can't find any WiFi networks. Support wants us to replace the oven when it's almost certainly a software bug in the app. For additional context, it used to work when I first received the oven early December but after randomly disconnecting, it hasn't been able to connect since. Edit: Tested with latest version 1.0.9, but still cannot find any WiFi networks. Currently in the process of replacing the oven for the second time.

Nice overall control of the oven and having the recipes in line is great. The two main missing features are the ability to start at any stage of a recipe, which is currently not possible. also to be able to copy the built-in recipes to easily customize. The bread recipes need to be updated to include the required baking steel. Also add a bread recipe using the "oven off" method which has been tried and true for most of us. It took me months to figure this out, which sucked.

App works and connects just fine, so far. I've run into an issue where the timer doesn't match. I set it last night for an 18hr cook and this morning, I checked the time from the app and it showed 18hrs left - and started counting down. I checked the oven, and it's showing the correct time remaining. All other settings seem to be right. The UI is good enough. I like the recipes and the ability to just hit go. I'd like to see an ability to increase the resolution to make the images smaller.

I knew I was in for it, as an early adopter. I wanted the APO -- because I've had such a good experience with the immersion cooker. The app, just like the oven itself, has its fair share of bugs, quirks, kinks, and occaisionally just doesn't work at all. Sometimes they'll push out an update, and it'll make the APO not connect to wifi. Sometimes they'll push out an update, and the app will be super slow. Just roll the dice and wait for the fix. Update: 4/25/21: WiFi still doesn't work.

It works for connecting and controlling your oven. however you cannot share recipes even amongst your household. I'm sure there are tons of users with great recipes to share. Please allow us to share. Especially since the amount of recipes is not abundant. This is a combi oven. There are bajillions of recipes for combi ovens and we should be able to input them, control the stages, and allow others the shortcut to our work. The lack of this feature has us browsing for other combi ovens.

11/8/24 update: Back up to 4 stars. I had to get several steps into customer support, but there is a "connect my oven" feature buried in the oven light setting under More. Hardly intuitive, but it worked. Oct 2024: loved this app when it worked and could even put up with the crashes. However, like others, I haven't been able to connect to my oven for months now and even the disconnect oven feature doesn't work. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app several times with no success.

Haven't been able to use the app for two months. Followed all of the reset instructions, but now the "disconnect from oven" doesn't work, so we can't reset the oven. Even uninstalled and reinstalled the app. We have to do everything using the buttons on the oven. Changed from 2 stars to 1 on Sept. 29 because there haven't been any changes.

The oven? Perfect. The app from 3 to 2 stars. Why? The app is still awful and there is zero communication of it getting better. Notice, if you will, the only responses from support are when there is a positive review. App still suffers from an inconsistent connection, unresponsiveness, delayed connections and notifications. There was a release early December but no improvement on connectivity and still can't reliably start a timer. The app stinks. The oven, brilliant.

Great oven (a month in) but the app disconnects, and it would be great to be able to modify recipes that don't quite work. For example, if there's a recipe that needs to be modified for a longer cooking time, there's no way to do it without starting from scratch. I hope someone actually listens: Anova, work with something like the Paprika app to see how to keep an app awake and make recipes easy to scale and modify.

The worst app I have used. Every single time I open the app and try to make a change on it, it crashes. Can't save recipes. However you have to use it because some of the settings you can only change in the app. Every review is negative about the app. FIX IT!! I'm having problems with the unit itself as well. It isn't steaming, trying to proof dough temp goes over 100° even when I have it set to 80°. I could just go on and on. The next thing I have to do is customer service, can't wait for that

Great. When it works. It constantly loses connection to the router (Asus brand) requiring a reboot. The oven itself is another problem as apparently it isn't that easy to marry a heat source to a computer. Mine shuts down, changes temperature or otherwise doesn't work a lot of the time. I have found that keeping a fan blowing on the oven helps with this part at least.

Constantly freezes on Android, requiring killing and restarting the app. There's no reason this should persist, unless they just weren't touching it. Oh yeah, if you happen to have to switch your WiFi? Good luck. I couldn't get it to connect for almost a year. Pretty sure it couldn't differentiate between 5GHz and 2 5, of which it cannot connect to the former and it took a lot of deep googling to get that answer. Be better, Anova, this thing wasn't cheap.

The oven itself is great, and really useful with all of its different functions. However, I dislike that it is necessary to use an app to use the oven, and the app crashes A LOT. Like almost all the time. Also, alerts for ending of cook stages are way off. Not by seconds, but by entire minutes. It's amazing when it works, but it usually doesn't.

This app is the bane of my existence. It's so slow. It's so buggy. Everything takes 27 taps to find, to get to, to clear, to redo because the old settings messed up the new settings, etc., etc.... Most of the time, i just want to set the oven manually, and the app flights me every step of the way. And anova wants to charge people money for this garbage? I'd 1000% prefer it if my oven just had reasonable manual controls, and I never had to look at this app ever again.

The app itself integrates well with the oven. It is great to see the recipe directly with the cooking stages. The main issue is with stability of the app. When cooking, the app will crash regularly; sometimes four or five times during a single cook. The oven generally seems to continue as planned, but it is very frustrating to have to restart so often.
