Reviews for Aqua Map Boating

The app is nice but is not compatible with needed accessibilty settings on my S22 Ultra. It requires me to use the lowest screen zoom setting which makes the text on all other apps so small that I can't read it. So it's either A) change the screen zoom setting every time I open the app and change it back when I close the app or B) just find another app. I chose option B.

Update from previous negative review. As I said, Great App. Works well and extremely useful. Problems with auto-renewal took quite a bit of effort by AquaMap to resolve, but it did get fully taken care of. I still think the idea of waiting until literally the last day to auto-renew an annual subscription is asking for problems. Lots of things can happen. At least a week or even a month would be better.

The lack of automatic routing is a deal breaker. Maps in Canada are incomplete and have significant GPS offsets. It is probably fine if you are 100% familiar with your area of navigation but dangerous if you are going to a new area. Also, Charts are not free during the trial - pay money for incomplete charts. Very sad. Run away fast from this until it gets at least 2010-level capabilities. EDIT: After response from developer, am removing the App and hoping for a refund for the inaccurate charts.

I purchased the app and the more expensive Navionics and Explorer charts. A single license allowed Android and iPad versions to be used. The Android app re-drew too slowly to be useful but the iPad app worked well. The charts need to be re-downloaded due to an app but. I have to repurchase them again. There should not be a permanent chart price if the developers can change the app and obsolete your purchases.

Update: losing a star b/c it crashes. Recovery is to delete & reinstal Have been running this app on my phone and tablet for over a year. It is a MUST HAVE for navigating the AICW! The Army Corps of Engineers does frequent surveys that are quickly posted to the Aqua Map charts, and are later posted to the official NOAA charts. The upgrade to Aqua Map Master allows real time display of NMEA 2000 instruments (depth sounder, AIS, etc.). Unfortunately the upgrade is only available on a subscription.

Installed and received multiple "AquaMap does not support...(display, location,...) and may behave erratically" messages.on my Google Pixel phone. Not off to a good start so I deleted it. A 'reviewer" had said great things about the app, probably another"influencer" paid for the review. Reply noticed. & Edited. It's nice of you to reach out but I do not wish to be a Beta tester at this time.

I have been using this as our main chart for sailing the bahamas over the last year. It is far more accurate than our raymarine chartplotter! I would highly recommend it. Recently I contacted customer service to assist installing it on a second device(my phone) and Pietro was great! He responded to the email within minutes, gave clear and good direction, and got me up and running.

By far the best nautical charting app. Feature set is constantly growing. Choice of vector or raster choice (or a hybrid of both), integration with AIS and vessels's NMEA data, along with sending track information to an autopilot make this a winner. All the charts I've seen in Canada were impeccable. Can't wait to see what great features that will come out next!

This is a great app for cruising with a lot of data in one place.

When viewing a small area (large scale) charts the distance unit is only in feet and can't be changed. I work in nautical miles and metres. I contacted the developer and received a quick response but they were dismissive of my feature request / bug report. 28 12 2021 No progress on being able to display short distances in metres. Rotating the tablet to horizontal causes some of the info boxes to overlay each other. Uping my rating to 4 stars as it is a very good app the above bugs excepted

The trial doesn't include charts, so I can't evaluate whether the app is any good. Moreover, when I open the 'purchase a chart' screen, the app doesn't offer the option to buy anything. Only by googling I could see that there are some charts in the Mediterranean, but again, no idea how good they are or how good the app is.

i love this awesome app!. provides excellent information, and I love the routing feature.

Absolutely must have. An outstanding replacement for Navionics (later - Garmin) android app. It offers the same (or better) functionality and annual subscription for NZ maps for only NZ $5 (vs NZ $100 for Navionics) .

great app, reasonable price, and lots of features with varying subscription levels. thank you

Perfect for my needs. I am a member of a marine search and rescue unit and this app has a great feature where you tap and can drag to a position showing multiple GPS coordinate formats. This is extremely useful since we get locations of distress calls in multiple formats to find the location of the distress call. The free maps show enough information to be useful.

Great app. The chart rendering is beautiful - better than I've seen on any other app. It's also possible to buy charts without having to pay a yearly subscription fee which is more cost effective.

Used it for an hour, logged into the Pro Master Account. Closer the app, only to have it wipe out my login info, and no longer even show me a login page. I can't put my info back even if I tried. Works great on a friend's iOS device, so I guess this is yet another app aimed at iOS but trying to grab the android market without actually putting in the work to make it.. work. RESPONSE TO DEV; Yes, I'm aware the login page is in the settings menu of the app, but it's BLANK.

Very good boating navigation App. Awesome anchor alarm. Sharing routes with other devices is problematic. you have to log into something called "GEC Account" which I have not found possible. I have tried for multiple hours, on multiple days without success. Help screens are useless for this, and nobody to call for help.

As a follow up on previous post: The app seems to have stabilized and now loads up and holds onto downloaded charts. It has not crashed again. It puts much information that previously took a lot of time to gather for cruising long distances. Having it on Android device helps to quickly look up info. needed on a cruise. If I can get it to work on Windows OS with emulator, will be a great 2nd nav. program.

Piece of junk. First, it did not ask for GPS permissions and so was stuck. Fine...restart the app then it picked up. You get to install one free map section...no problem. I get that. But I could not even zoom in enough to see where my dock was to DL the right section (it is on the border between sections). The map would just go black. Uninstalled immediately. I will find something else.
