Reviews for AR Art Projector: Da Vinci Eye

Looked very promising so I gave it a go. Followed all instructions and made an anchor point for best possible results but the images I'm using are just constantly flickering around on the page making it impossible to trace any image. I've tried making different anchor points, fixing focus (which when pressed does nothing) and used various methods of holding the phone (glass method, tripod, cup, aerosol) all to no avail. Such a shame ! Will be requesting a refund.

Totally worth the 4 bucks! I hope it gets AR sometime, but it works just the way I need it to as is. I've tried three very frustrating apps today, but this one is works! And, if you read through the comments, you'll see that the producer actually cares about the app and his customers. Really cool! Update: I got a phone with AR capabilities, I'm over the moon with this app!

I had some issue but the Devs response helped me to fix it. I have been using this app for a while and this is the best you can get if you want to draw and create. As an artist i do use it to take custom orders from my clients. I custom shoes and clothing this app have been helping me to be more acurate and to save time. I wish i could give 10 stars.

I love this app. I'm retired. The last time I drew anything was playing "Hang Man" when I was about 12. I want to learn watercolors, but didn't know where to start. Divinci Eye opened possibilities. I don't have to learn to draw in order to paint; I can trace instead. But now I'm interested in drawing, too. I like that the app will help scale pictures to any size I want, though it takes practice to do so. Once mastered, I can place a picture of my granddaughter from my phone to a full page.

This app has potential. It's currently on v. 3.1.2 and i won't be using it again. The image was a little instable, and when i moved the camera physically, to take in more of the photo, it no longer lined up with my drawing - despite the anchor being clearly visible. The other thing is canvas size. Having your phone positioned so it can see your cavass, while you can see your screen, and draw, limits the size you can work to, to approx A4 Better off with a grid, light box or projector.

This is a total game changer! I've practiced sketching, for several years, it is a painful process for me, always using an eraser... this app is so awesome! Once I started using it, I started naturally holding my pencil in a relaxed manner, just as I've read so much about! I'm extremely happy with this. I'm a watercolor enthusiast, and now I can concentrate on hue mixing, values, ect. I have a feeling this will help me with my contor drawing. My phone is a galaxy s22 ultra. Happy creating!

Great app overall, though my phone doesn't properly work with the AR anchor. It says it's because I have an old device, but I have a Samsung S10 which came out in 2019. Is that considered old now? When I create an anchor (after following all instructions) and I want to move/rotate the image, it doesn't do so properly. Similarly to other reviews, the image also flickers. App works perfectly in classic mode, but you have to make sure to tape your paper down and have a steady tripod.

What an awesome app, really upped my game. It's a lot of fun and makes getting proportions correct a doddle (or a doodle?). My grandmother gave me a viewing grid when I was a child, if only she could have seen this! I struggle a bit with the opacity slider, accidentally move the image instead (doesn't matter because the camera is locked but still, maybe worth a look in a future update). Very worth the price of a pint (at happy hour).

I've encountered the focus hunting issues others have reported. S24 ultra. When using the anchor, the camera keeps "breathing" in and out. I have tried multiple anchors, different styles, makes no difference. Ask yourself whether or not it's worth it to pay $20 for an ad free static tracing app, because that's what this is until they fix it. If the devs read this review, why not borrow an S24 ultra and try to fix the issue? I have a friend w/S24U who consistently replicates the problem too.

This app has saved me so many clunky work arounds of getting my digital designs and sketches onto physical format. It doesn't come without a few short comings - larger artwork is more challenging to work with but doable. A high end phone is needed for the AR feature as it's taxing on devices and probably needs a good camera (works decently on a Pixel 7). A solid phone stand highly recommended. Happy with my purchase and I hope there's continued improvements on the app.

Just doesn't live up to the promose. In AR mode the picture doesn't move with you fingers eg I push it right and it goes down and to the left. It seems to only lock on to the larger zoomed camera lens in AR mode to so it's massively zoomed in. In normal mode I can kind of get it to work but feel there are better and easier ways to trace an image.

For $30, this app has let me down. I don't know if it's a Samsung thing, but the continuous glitching in both modes of drawing means that I cannot get a proportioned drawing no matter how quickly I do it. The anchor never seems to correlate to the angle I am using, and despite no knocking/moving of anything the camera looks like it is bouncing. On top of this, the app drowns my phone battery way quicker than any app on my phone. Such a waste of money.

This is an absolutely beautiful, wonderful app. It works just as it's described, and it probably the best investment an amateur artist can make. I'm using it to block out large photo references which will turn into paintings. Help is available quickly from the designer and from the related FB group. I experienced a learning curve of about 4-6 hours over 3 days, but apparently most people don't have as much trouble.

This app has a rather weird, kind of steep learning curve. The app itself is super simple with great instructions. The learning lies with getting your brain to let you accurately trace lines without getting disoriented and straying off. If you ever went to the dentist as a kid and they gave you those mirror glasses so you could read a book without being in the way, It's kind of like wearing those and doing a paper maze. Once you get used to it though, it's an amazing app!

Well worth the money. Total simplicity. Definitely a bit strange to use. (Straining on the eyes for too long but it may just be me) I've used this with black or dark paper and gel pens as light boards do not shine through. I've drawn tattoos on myself and friends with magic marker or ink pens. This app is a 10/10 5 star 100% win. If advertisements are ever implemented I will delete this app in a heartbeat and take back everything I've mentioned above and demand a refund.

This is a really cool little ap. It is not something I will personally use. It lags a little moving the picture and there is a learning curve that once over it is very useful, but you need to invest in a stand. If you want to use the AP to it's potential you really need one. I am so happy to see a good art ap, I hope they keep updating this as it has the potential to help a lot of artist, be it they are new to art or a pro.

There is a learning curve but their excellent support will get you there. It's worth the effort. I had almost given up but the strong support I received was clear, patient and helpful. I've been using the app every day for a week now and can't imagine not having it. Thanks to their team, really great work. I would also definitely buy their camera stand, the desk version or clamp version. Either one will offer much more flexibility with the app.

Works fine if you want to do small drawings, but couldn't even get it to see the full page of an 8x10 without the phone being too high to really work. Kind of sad that it makes it look easy to do larger drawings, but settings make it feel impossible to do so. Had my phone on a stack of cups, and it was so high that you can't even see the phone screen looking down on it to draw while sitting down at that point. Would be nice otherwise for small sketches, I suppose, not much else.

Android app is very different from the iPhone app. I started with the iPhone app and really like it. I reached out when I was planning to switch phones to ask if I'd have to pay for app again. They confirmed I would, which was fine. They did not tell me that while the projector part of the app is similar, the social part, which allows you to login to save and share your art and reference photos, see other people's art, and find new reference photos is completely absent.

I like the app... Except... It quickly drains my phone battery and tends to make my phone overheat a little. The AR is hit or miss most days with it saying it can't find the anchor when it's clearly in sight. Other than that, it's great! I can arrange my subject perfectly in the areas I want, find the color value differences I might miss, and help get proportions right. There's tons of support and tutorials and lots of little features available. I hope to see it keep improving.
