Really low pressure range on wacom aes. Like a normal stroke is like too light and a heavy pressure stroke is like a light touch on a wacom emr. On EMR the color wheel keeps glitching and I cant select a color without drawing a stroke. Could you add a dark theme for anoled owners?
Reviews for ArtRage Vitae Mobile Painting
← Back to ArtRage Vitae Mobile PaintingI have artrage on the desktop and it's great to work with. The gap must be closed between the desktop version and the app to really love it. Stencils and rulers would be a great start, looking forward to the updates.
There is a nasty bug, any canvas size i select becomes potraight size automatically even if its landscape it still rotates into potraight. Same thing with trace image as well. Basically, and image that is too long artrage with rotate it. (LG stylo 6) This does not happen with the old art rage.
One of the best of its kind and the best natural looking media on Android however I don't see the improvements in this new version. It looks the same as it has for over ten years. No new tools nor UI changes. I don't know what they're doing over there but truly making improvements isn't one of them. Still, it's a nice app for artists and non-artists. If you have the first version though don't bother buying this one.
Yaa now it's great to work with big canvas .. we can do thick paint effect in pritable resolution from a mobile is a dream .. and can feel the real oil color mixing feel in digital era .. which I never found in anywhere.. so to me it's a must have app for any beginner kid to pro senior ones .. thanks for the development team ..
I have the paid regular version and new Vitae version. Compared them both I can say Vitae has better blending but still should be a promised update instead of another purchase. The Vitae version still did not solve the lagging problem. Sometimes I put a few big stokes on, the app freezes 3 to 5 seconds and then shows the strokes. It really hurts the painting experience. I have the latest Samsung tab S7+ with snapdragon 865+/ 8gb ram. So I don't think dev can blame hardware for the lagging
BE CAREFUL OF THE NEW UPDATE. MONTHS OF WORK ALMOST GONE. They changed the gallery folder on my phone. After trying to follow the instructions twice it didn't work and my files dissappeared. I found a workaround if you go into gallery and hit import paintings from folder than go into your internal storage and click the folder ArtRagePaintings it seemed to have worked. I really hope they continue to work out these bugs because it's not ok.
Honestly a joy to use, great value for the features, and my favourite app for any kind of art work. I've used it on Galaxy Note 10, Galaxy tab s8 and Galaxy S23 and highly recommend it to anyone with an s pen who likes to draw or paint. I've only briefly noodles about with touch painting but that's surprisingly good too, if a little less accurate. My seven year old daughter also enjoys it!
As another commenter stated, you cannot begin a line of painting from the outside of the canvas like you can in the previous version. That makes this useless. I will have to go back to the old version until this is fixed. I spent money on this just to find out it's not usable.
Please can you add Google play services so that players can backup their saved art to Google drive, it's so disheartening when you have to get a new phone or tablet and all previous saved work is lost, the app would get 5 stars from me if this was implemented. Also why am I unable to download the original Artrage App I owned? It shows up in my library of previously owned apps but won't let me download it so I was forced to purchase this one. An explanation should be given in the app description.
Please spell out why you released a new app and not an update for those who already purchased ArtRage... I saw nothing new. I bought it immediately upon seeing it without even questioning it. And I was immediately disappointed. You have a great app with the original ArtRage... but this is really unscrupulous and unacceptable behavior. The only thing that I can tell is different is the UI a name change and different thumbnail art. This is will be the last time I purchase anything from you.
Might be 4 stars. Annoyed that the older app isn't labelled as such, so paid for my daughter to download the same one as me so we could follow a tutorial, and then we both found exporting images no longer works on it. So also paid to download this one for myself, and it's a lot laggier when doing the actual painting than the older app is, some quite jumpy moments. But it looks like I can export images with it, so I can actually keep and use any artwork I make with it. Lenovo Flex5 Chromebook.
Only used it for a couple of days (both on desktop and on Google Slate), but actually really enjoying it--but I'm somewhat of a newbie to art applications in general. I think most of the good things have already been mentioned in other reviews; canvas choices, brush settings, different types of paint. I was wondering however, if the devs would include a 'real' transform tool that would work based on perspective? E.g. Being able to bend and wrap images (especially imported images) around other images, from what I can tell, I'm unable to do that--but again, I'm quite new, so maybe I'm just missing context as to how to do it in Vitae compared to other art apps (Photoshop, ClipStudio, etc.) Just one star off for that (unless the devs can point out what I'm missing?), because otherwise, I'm finding it fully-featured enough to have a lot of fun with it, both on the desktop and tablet/phone version. Might also be worth mentioning that from what I saw, the documentation on the website is lacking--I very rarely see "Vitae" mentioned, it's almost always "Mobile" or "Lite," so I don't think everything lines up correctly.
I've been an ArtRage fan for a long time, great on desktop, just now I got to try the android version and sure enough, it's amazing. Feels very organic and I could just use it all day. However, it's sad that although you can record your process, you can't play it back or share it on social media. Apart from that, great app for beginners and pros alike.
One glaring flaw! Lost one star because unlike the last version, you can't start a line off the page and bring it onto the canvas. All lines must be started ON the canvas. This means you cannot have a straightforward from one end of a page to another. Other than that,it 88the app is fantastic. O please fix that little issue! Thanks! )
I've been a fan of artrage since the first version on desktop. I've since used up to artrage 5 and have also used the first mobile version of artrage. So, normally I'm very pleased. However, this new version is very buggy, adding/orienting reference images is a headache, it constantly crashes, and despite that I'd still be fine with it if it offered an auto save feature that you can choose the frequency for, but it doesn't. Tool-wise, it's missing a selection tool.
I'm not a professional drawing and painting artist, but this app is easy to find the options and test them. It doesn't have a very complicated setup, the options are clear and easy to find. Is not overloaded of stuff that are not easy to understand or find out the purpose...I really like the layout. The paint brush, roller, the dry fast, auto clean, very nice options. I still learning it, but I am already enjoying the app a lot, and is working great. Just the color picker or drop tool has a delay
This is ok but it needs more digital art tools to make things easier like in Rebelle paint. It can still have tools yet feel traditional. For some reason canvas rotation is off and you you have to turn it on. The same case for pressing and holding to pick a color, things that make it simple are for some reason off. I don't know if this app is still being worked on or not but it has the potential to be one of the best drawing apps on the market.
Painting itself is great! Everything else is a nightmare. Trying to size an artwork for prints correctly is IMPOSSIBLE, the app's calculations seems to ignore math entirely. There is no way to import images of your already worked on in an editable way. However, this is impossible. If they add being able to pick a print size and convert it to pixels, and add editable imports, it would make me give 5 stars. Right now with missing functions I have no reason to use this app.
I tried ArtRage demo on my laptop years ago and loved it, so decided to give the mobile version a try. It's still simple and fun to use. Love how it's pretty lightweight too. Great for anyone who likes the traditional painting feel and look in their digital art. Some of the brushes seems to lag a little bit though, which is why I am taking away a star. Thought the lagging may be fixed with not using what I think is the stabilizing effect, doesn't work. The watercolor brush lags a lot regardless
