Reviews for Audible: Audio Entertainment

Clips and bookmarks is one of the most important features for the user to retain information after listening to a book. But it's one of the most ignored features as well. You can't read your notes beyond the first few words. Earlier you could tap to expand and be able to read your fell note for each of the bookmarks. Also, that screen doesn't retain your position in the list after you go out of that screen. Once you go back to the bookmarks page you have to scroll all the way again. Terrible!

My main issue with this app is how incredibly difficult it is to refine my search within the audible plus catalog. Which is frustrating considering I'm paying. I've gone back and forth with memberships for years. I own MANY books. I never get recommendations in the plus catalog based on my library and it's always the same free books. Since discovering I can get MANY books for free via my local library's apps. I've been even more less inclined to pay for audible.

Price is pretty steep for only 1 book credit per month and the moderate functionality of the app. Combine that with controlling how long you need to listen to something before you can leave a review on it and the lack of consistency of available titles from a series and there's not much left for positive feedback. Doesn't take hours of listening to determine that a certain narrator is doing a poor job and want to inform other listeners before they waste their 1 credit/money on a title.

I like audible. The issue is the app for me it malfunctions when I wanted to work the most. Play back button works when it wants to and then when you download it doesn't necessarily save it to your phone so if you don't have internet access you don't get access to the book. I don't know if it's just a me problem or other people have the same issue.

The app should be an audiobook player, but is seems to exist primarily to try to get you to buy more audiobooks. The app loads into a "Home" screen in name only: it's actually a storefront with suggestions for what to buy/use credits on. Every book ends with a preview for a suggested listen, completing ruining the sense of finality you get at the end of the book you listened to.

First, I absolutely adore the vast selection of books to choose from, and have had MANY suggestions they've given me that were "included in your membership" that have grown to be favorites. Second, the app is buggy as hell with the tech help not very helpful. I've had the same issues through 4 different phones. The app will randomly crash and I have to close it down and restart it to get it playing again. Tech assumes it's just one book and doesn't listen when I say it's ANY book.

When one of my favorite authors dropped a new title, I came back to Audible after 6 months using another app. Imagine my disappointment when the app crashes anytime another app sends a notification. Maps and Messenger sometimes crash it, but the camera "click" when taking pictures is pretty much guaranteed. For someone making package deliveries all day, this is unacceptable.

Not enough books to choose from, and shorter books are the same cost as longer books. If the book is eight hours or less, it shouldn't be a full credit. Or maybe you should have a plan for manga listening so you can listen to three volumes for one credit--I'd pay for an add-on so I could use my credits for normal books or manga if you did this!--but right now, it's far from satisfactory. Also, why are most of the "free" narrators rubbish? Quality control would be lovely.

App keeps getting worse and worse! There are now ads at the end of every book! You pay for the service, and you buy the books, and there are still advertisements. You can queue a title to play next or use collections to play books in order but both are glitchy. They also removed the option to bookmark your library to that from your home screen. I never shop in the app, so waiting for the store to load is a waste of time. I've had a subscription since 2006, and EVERY update makes the app worse!

I'm having the same issue many others have mentioned - no matter what my settings are, when my phone connects to Bluetooth in my car, Audible automatically starts up. Not only that - it starts playing a book I've already marked finished and archived. It's EXTREMELY aggravating not only that the issue exists in the first place (there's no way there's no fix for this, Amazon!), but also people have been complaining about this issue for literally YEARS and nothing has been done.

Not much good to listen to anymore. Every couple of weeks, starting last month, they remove just a little bit more of the good books to listen to. When I started this membership, I understood the 1 credit and some free books to read. I found a pretty good amount of free(with the $12.99 mo. membership) books to read. Now that supply has DRASTICALLY been reduced and most audiobooks available are virtual voice or bad narration. What's the point of having a membership when you have to pay more?

I would love to hide the finished podcast episodes I've listened to and have the option of listening from old to new without having to go back and start the next episode. there's also a spot where I can see all my podcasts in one area, but it doesn't give me the oldest like it says, I have 2019 episodes but it only pulls 2022 or above. taking the ads out of the podcast would be great too, since I do pay for the app, and it's not on their platform.

Largely enjoy the app. Fair prices and good sales. However, in recent weeks the timer has been acting up. Went from changing styles every few times I used it to simply not shutting the book off when the timer ends. I'd also like my stand-alone books all in one place without having to move them myself; like a 'stand-alone' in the lists where everything that's not a series goes automatically

Too much advertising! Open the app and it bombards you with sales and begs for subscriptions. After you make a purchase and try to go view your library you're bombarded with more sales of your wishlist in your library. It is CONSTANT and aggravating and needs to stop. Let me view my own audiobooks that I have already paid for without being blasted with more ads. For God's sake, let me access my stuff. Stop trying to sell to me at every possible turn. Enough is enough. Good grief.

Terrible app. The only reason to use the service is the Monopoly Amazon has on the market. I don't think I have gotten more than a week and a half without the app deleting everything that's been downloaded. New problem has started recently, app keeps "starting you where you left off on another device" which sounds great if it meant that you start at the most recent place you stopped listening. what audible is doing is moving me back to where I was at 8am, making it impossible to advance.

Books not downloading, have been fighting for a good 30 min to an hour to get anything to download. App has devolved into utter rubbish, but hey it has AI now, that's what we all really want right? The problems with the app are persistent and dont seem to be a priority to fix. It still randomly closes while listening as well. Takes forever to load if not connected to internet and books will randomly forget they are downloaded, forcing a long fight to redownload. Use at own risk!

I love Audible so much usually but I just ran into a huge problem. I went to listen to my favorite series that I own all 5 books of and only one of the books was in my library. The other 4 were just gone. After chatting with customer service, they gave me credits to repurchase the books I was missing. But. Now I'm wondering how many other books missing that I'll never know about because they're not my favorite books. Not really feeling confident in spending more money on audible anymore.

I love that i can "read" books while I work. craft. cook and a myriad of other things. its a decent app, I wish the previews actually previewed a bit of the actual book rather than opening credits that you can't skip past. Some authors voices can be annoying, so I hate to spend the money if I won't like it. One recent book kept repeating lines. not sure if it was the book or the app. More credits would be nice for the monthly cost. especially loyal listeners

The App functions these days, not well, but it's like it has multiple versions all fighting internally to be the version. so I never know what I'm going to get. Some days all my bookmarks disappear sometimes they reappear. Sometimes I can view the most recent bookmark first, sometimes I can't. Sometimes the "end of chapter" timer displays one way and sometimes the other. Often I have to reboot my whole phone to get the app to function. Sometimes my books freeze. Ugh.

I used to love this app, but lately, it's been driving me crazy. Regardless of the settings, it starts on its own, both in the car and when I'm using earbuds. I've tried turning off the auto start setting, but it does no good. It frequently stops when I'm listening with my earbuds while walking, and this week, it has decided to restart my book from the beginning when I get in the car - 3 times! Then it takes about 30 minutes of advancing the book 30 seconds at a time to get back to where I off.
