Description
Been using Aurora Alerts – Northern Light for a couple months now. It’s basically an app that monitors the northern lights and sends you alerts when there’s a chance you might be able to see them. Pretty solid app if you’re into that kind of thing.
Here’s what you do: there’s a short-term forecast that tells you if the northern lights might be visible in the next hour, along with the weather and moon conditions. And it’s got a long-term forecast too, for the next 3 days and even 27 days out. You can check the probability of seeing the lights based on your location. Oh, and it shows the current auroral activity, which is cool.
Look, if you’re into weather apps or chasing the northern lights, you’ll probably like this. It’s not perfect – the alerts can be a bit hit or miss sometimes – but overall it does the job. Worth checking out.
Editor Opinion
So here's my honest take on Aurora Alerts - Northern Light. I've tested a bunch of weather and astronomy apps, and this one's pretty solid. The forecasting features are really helpful if you're trying to plan a northern lights viewing trip. And it's not the most polished app out there, but it gets the job done. The alerts can be a little flaky at times, and the ads can get annoying if you don't pay. But if you're into this kind of thing, it's worth keeping on your phone.
