So here's my honest take on the Austin American-Statesman app. I've tested a bunch of local news apps and this one's pretty solid. The coverage is pretty comprehensive, with a good mix of breaking news, in-depth reporting, sports, and even some lifestyle content. And the design is clean and easy to navigate too. But it's not without its flaws - the ads can get a little intrusive at times, and I wish the push notifications were a bit more customizable. Overall though, if you're an Austin resident who wants to stay on top of what's happening in your city, this is worth checking out.

Description

Been using the Austin American-Statesman app for a couple months now. It’s basically a news app focused on Austin and Central Texas. Pretty solid if you’re into keeping up with what’s happening in the area.

Here’s what you can do: you can get alerts on breaking news, read articles on local schools, businesses, and politics. And there’s also a digital version of the newspaper you can browse through. And they’ve got some fun puzzles and audio stories too – took me a while to figure that out but it’s a cool feature.

Look, if you live in or around Austin, you’ll probably get a lot of use out of this app. It’s not perfect – the ads can be kinda annoying if you don’t pay – but overall it does a good job of keeping you informed on what’s going on in the city.
