Description
Been using AutomationManager for IoT for a couple months now. It’s basically an app that lets you take control of your smart home devices without relying on the internet or some overseas cloud service. Pretty solid if you’re into home automation and want more control.
Here’s what you do: you can set up automation rules for your lights, appliances, etc. and run it all on a local server. There’s also a bunch of integrations with popular smart home tech – took me a while to figure it all out but it’s super useful once you get it set up. And the best part is, your stuff keeps working even if your internet goes down.
Look, if you’re into taking back control of your smart home, you’ll probably like this. It’s not perfect – the setup can be a bit tricky – but overall it does the job. Worth checking out if you want more autonomy over your IoT devices.
Editor Opinion
So here's my take on AutomationManager for IoT. I've tried a bunch of home automation apps and this one's pretty solid. It gives you way more control than the standard cloud-based stuff, which I like. And the local automation server is a game-changer - it just works, even when your internet is down. Not gonna lie though, the initial setup can be a pain if you're not tech-savvy. But once it's running, it's pretty darn reliable.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Tons of smart home integrations to connect all your devices
- Local server means your automation works even without internet
- Granular control over rules and schedules for your home
- Doesn't require any monthly fees or cloud subscriptions
Cons
- Setup process is more complicated than some other options
- Can be overkill if you just have a few basic smart home devices
- Might need to tinker with it to get everything working just right
