Reviews for Ava Finance

Signed up for this hoping to build credit quickly. Once you attach your bank to it, despite the 2500 limit, you have 25 dollars to spend on very specific products such as streaming services or in their overpriced Ava store. I bought the cheapest thing in there, a 12 dollar cork coaster, and my Ava MasterCard was denied, in their own store! I have no hopes of this being a reliable method to build credit since it is so glitchy. Deleted my account and uninstalling the app.

Full scam! Saw an advertisement claiming "everyone is approved" for their card. You must sign up & pay for the first month before you can apply for the card. I paid $9 for the first month. Applied for the card by connecting my bank account, which has been active & receiving regular direct deposits for over 7 years. And was promptly denied. I canceled the subscription within 30 minutes, realizing they couldn't offer what I needed, & then contacted them for a refund. Which they also denied.

Just read the other 1 and 2 star reviews and that'll sum why I'm in that club as well. It feels like a scam to pay an $8 balance with a debit card that has a $3 fee because the app tells you there's insufficient funds in your bank account when that's clearly not the case. Support seems to be MIA because they haven't responded back to me in over 24 hours. Email is the only way they talk to you.

You really have a limit of spending power, you might get a high credit limit but that's misleading. Ava strictly picks and chooses where you can use your card, more than half of the merchants listed are business I've never even heard of or even use. Let's say you have a credit limit of $500 but are restricted to use $25 of it monthly, only the merchants they have listed. Now, you can turn that off and use up until your limit (so they say) but are now only able to use it on 1 merchant 😂

I have been with Ava two years. It started out good but now the subscription listing is misding and I cannot add new subscriptions, not even my cell phone. The Ava card keep denying subscriptions My spending limit is $170. I am only using $60 in subscription at the moment. I have sent several emails but keep getting a generic response and their is no phone number to call. This is ridiculous. I may have to let it go. UPDATE: The issue has been fixed since this Review.

The idea is great, I have a few other apps that do something similar, but not with a $2,500 credit line. When rebuilding credit keeping utilization low is key. The company should mention at the start that having direct deposit is required to use the service. When I tried to link my bank, an account that gets $5k-$10k in deposits monthly, I received a notice that the account should get at least $1,300 in direct deposits. I 'm self employed so not getting direct deposits is a deal breaker.

When I opened the app, I had to create my account and link my bank. . So I did that, then it wanted money...6 mos or 1 yr membership fees. No monthly option. There was no way to even explore the app before making a pretty lengthy commitment. I really have no idea how the app works, what all it provides, and certainly cannot explain how I would benefit from it. At least let people have basic access in the app before getting money for the credit building service..I think that's what they do?!?

Got 2 stars because I feel like like some very important things are left out before you pay $9 a month. 1. If you get approved for the $2500, you only get access to $25 of it to start. There doesn't appear to be some timeline for what is unlocked and how long to the next amount or what you need to do for it. 2. You can only use the credit for an approved list of "recurring subscription" companies, although there are a few cable and cell phone companies listed. Everything else will be denied.

My experience has been horrible thus far. The initial sign up was great, my membership was deducted with no problem, and the features I do have access to I like so far. NOW, the real issue I'm having is linking my primary bank account or my secondary bank account. Both accounts won't link to Ava. I can clearly see some type of a glitch or jump when Plaid is trying to connect. Ava is saying my account(s) is blocked...verified that these are my accounts in multiple ways. Not making sense!

I used this app for all of one minute because it turned out to not be what I was looking for. Paid for a full month, requested a refund since I cancelled pretty much immediately, and was told no, they don't offer free trials, and account creation incurs costs, insane. I would suggest any other app Google recommends under this one, but steer clear of ava. You'll pay more for less, without any possibility of a refund, I would give zero stars if I could.
