Description
Been using Avigilon Alta Open for a couple months now. It’s basically an app that lets you open doors connected to your company’s Avigilon access control system with your phone. Pretty solid if you need a quick and easy way to get in and out of the office.
Here’s what you do: you can just open the app and it’ll find any nearby doors you’re authorized to access. Tap on the one you want and boom, it’ll unlock it for you. There’s also a location feature that’ll show you where the nearest door is – handy if you’re in a new building. And the whole thing is super secure, uses Bluetooth and WiFi to make sure only you can open the doors.
Look, if you work at a place that uses Avigilon for access control, you’ll probably find this app really useful. It’s not perfect – the setup can be a bit of a pain if your admin doesn’t get you set up right away – but overall it does the job. Worth checking out if you’re tired of fumbling with keys or ID cards.
Editor Opinion
So here's my honest take on Avigilon Alta Open. I've tested a bunch of business apps like this and this one's pretty good. The door unlock feature works reliably and the security seems solid. It's nice to just have your phone to get in instead of needing a separate access card. The location stuff is handy too.
On the downside, the setup can be a hassle if your admin doesn't get you enabled properly. And the app itself is a little basic - not a lot of extra features beyond just unlocking doors. But for what it's designed to do, it gets the job done. Overall, I'd say it's a pretty useful app if your company uses Avigilon access control.

requires Bluetooth to stay on and the app to run in the background. still fails regularly and requires opening the app and pressing the unlock button. worse than key fobs...
while it works well with Android phones, it doesn't offer an Android smartwatch compatible app (it does have an apple watch version though)
Hate it. I can't forget to bring an elevator button. Also badly misaligned, can't read access points and most of the readers don't work. Also, bloated. Why is it 175...
