Description
Been using Baluster Layout for a couple months now. It’s basically an app that helps you figure out how many balusters you need for your railing and where to space them out. Pretty solid if you’re into building decks or stairs.
The app lets you enter the railing length, baluster width, and the spacing you want. Then it calculates the optimal number of balusters and where to place them to meet building codes. There’s also an option to handle multiple railing sections, which is pretty handy for more complex projects. And you can switch between inches and centimeters – that’s useful if you’re working with both imperial and metric measurements.
Look, if you’re a deck or stair builder, you’ll probably find this app really helpful. It’s not perfect – the UI is a little clunky at times – but overall it does the job. Worth checking out if you need to figure out baluster spacing.
Editor Opinion
I've tested a bunch of construction and home improvement apps, and Baluster Layout is one of the better ones I've come across. It's not the flashiest app, but it's reliable and gets the job done. The spacing calculations are spot-on, and I like that it handles multiple rail sections. The only real downside is the interface could use some polishing, but it's not a dealbreaker. Overall, it's a pretty solid tool if you need to properly space out balusters for your next project.
