Reviews for Bandcamp

This is a review of the app - Bandcamp as a music distribution service gets 5 stars. The app lacks dark mode, gapless playback, and a cart system where you can add multiple items and check-out once (as is possible on the website.) Also, Bandcamp links clicked from messages inside the app need to open inside the app too, and not open up the browser.

Absolutely horrible that you can not delete anything from your library. Sometimes, artists have bundle sales, but that includes a lot of filler material that is lackluster that you wish to delete, but you can't. So now you're stuck with hundreds of albums that you'll never listen to in your library that you have to sort through, but the sorting system is abysmal at best and highly inaccurate. Update the app and implement a delete feature, and enhance the sorting system.

I love that I can directly support my favorite artists but... when i try to listen to music, the sound sometimes just stops working. The progress bar on the song keeps going, but there is no audio. When i move it back, suddenly audio again! Its irritating to try and clean while listening to music, when I'm spending most of my time fixing audio.

The Bandcamp app is ferociously uncool in a way that's almost cool. No dark theme, just recently got playlists (also try out BNDCMPR for others' playlists), barely any options... It's really just a barebones app between you and a musician, and I guess, when you get right down to it, that's what you want it to be. Still, I'd like a dark theme or an update to match that nice web interface you sometimes see.

Terrible app. I cannot add things to a cart, I can only buy them one by one. The search feature is awful. I search for an artist, I get artist page/s, releases, and tracks, in not a discernible order; the artist pages only have music the artist themselves uploaded. Tracks from a release often appear ahead of the release itself. None of this is intuitive. It's as if the devs just gave up. The app makes a great idea nearly insufferable. Please fix this.

Sound quality is excellent, you can more directly support artists, and those are by far the best things about this app. It's otherwise pretty bare bones and buggy. "New" features like song queues and playlists misbehave and stop playing between songs. I can no longer cast to other speakers using the app. This has always worked fine for me in the past, and no longer works despite that Bandcamp has permission to cast. Please fix :(

Decent app, but I find it pretty difficult to navigate compared to the desktop experience, especially purchase options, viewing artist discographies, and browsing genres. Recently, I have barely used the app since the removal of cast support. In order to cast, one has to either cast all device audio at the system level or download files and play them in an app that supports casting, both of which are a poor experience.

I love Bandcamp for directly supporting artists and have found a ton of great music just by browsing around. However, the app itself is pretty clunky compared to the desktop site. I cant add songs to playlists from the "now playing" window but rather have to do it from the album tracklist. The search function can be a pain to navigate because you cant filter by song, artist, or album if youd like. Overall navigation is just meh.

Still very barebones with a lot of bugs. I still can't copy and paste codes to redeem albums. The way it handled fan and artist accounts is so messy I don't know where I'm buying from. Still no way to search my collection without searching the entire site. I purchased a couple of OSTs 8 years and hundreds of purchases ago and the "music feed" still wants to suggest me soundtracks. A total mess.

No issues with loading or playback. My main beef is that the listening history on your browser is not synced with the listening history in the app. If you have a large number of albums (I have around 700), it can be difficult to find what you're looking for. In addition, there is no ability to organize on the app AND you cannot see your reviews or favorite tracks.

I love this app, but I have been missing out since I started using the app to buy albums. The app does not have a cart, you have to pay separately each time. The app does not list all the music to purchase on an artist's page. The BROWSER does this. So if you're like me and don't know this yet (just found this out on Bandcamp Friday), you might be super frustrated that you ordered a CD from a band because you wanted the mp3s but the mp3s were there to buy the whole time. Fix. Your. App.

I don't know why this app isn't rated higher, I love it. Good interface, responsive, huge selection of great music. I ditched YouTube Premium so I needed an alternative for music. All my music I've bought is there and easy to download for offline play. I also really like the queue feature. it's a great way to find new bands. Anyway, great app!

I love the concept especially in a world where you can no longer own music, but this app is horrible. I purchased a few things and downloaded, but I can't use the files on my phone to listen in other players. That has to be done on your computer then sync to the phone. A 3 step process. The wishlist is useless. I put stuff into it but there is no way to access the wishlist from this app. Again the website.

I like the app and the prices in the store, but I really hope the devs do some sort of tooling to the app to make the music player more user-friendly. I mean, if you want me to download and play the music in the app, then the player should be easier to function it's very cumbersome. If you need some inspiration, look at a "black player." Also, a widget music control function would be stellar for those who have an android powered car stereo.

I absolutely love this app! I joined Bandcamp quite a few years ago, and continue to buy most of my music here. I really like that most of the money goes directly to the artists. An awesome selection of ambient music and I'm discovering new artists all the time! I also love that, in most cases, you can listen to entire albums before you decide to buy them! The listening parties are a fun feature, as well, letting you chat with the artists and fellow fans.

I love Bandcamp and use it a lot from a laptop/desktop browser. The app, however, has problems. (1) The wishlist is not in synch — it shows all the albums that I ever added, including the ones that I've removed. (2) My collection shows albums that should be hidden, and in one case a duplicate. (3) Auto-play muzak during login — how dumb is that?

App user for over 10 years, >5k items in my collection. Great way to discover artists and labels but no way to organize my items and search results are random & incomplete. I don't receive notifications unless the app is open regardless of phone settings. Multiple-item, sale codes, & discography purchases need to be done on the website. Prefer website for purchasing and for downloading - DLs MUST be done from the website which makes the app a very limited tool .

I'm a big supporter of CreativeCommons and their partners. If you like an artist, buy their stuff. For real. You'll own it, and you'll be supporting their work. I appreciate the transparency with what you're paying for. And most artists have name your price for their albums. I like to options for file formats upon download. Mp3 sucks for music. Bandcamp is way better on a computer. The app needs a lot of work. It's glitchy & slow and often freezes. I don't use it to stream, just to purchase.

My main issue with this app is that if there's anything in your queue, the app won't close, and I have a big obnoxious notification in my phone forever, until I clear the queue. It's obnoxious bc I want to "shuffle all" most of the time when I open the app, which adds everything to the queue. I appreciate that you can buy music and download it to use independently of the app, though, which is rare these days

Always loved Bandcamp. Happy to see public playlists finally being introduced! There seems to be a *BUG: I CANNOT add tracks to a PUBLIC Playlist.* It simply won't do anything when I tap one trying to add to it. If I make it private, I can add them, then make it public again. We should be able to update public playlists without having to go back and forth through menus like that.
