I can't compare this to other banking apps as I only have one banking account (besides credit cards), but this app does everything I need and more. It's a breeze to transfer fund between accounts. It has a LOT of notifications which I find extremely useful. Edit as of 7/2/25 when I try to set up a notification of a charge over an amount, it will type seemingly random numbers then crashes. And notification that I have to enter an amount does this.
Reviews for Bank of America Mobile Banking
I like the ease of seeing your transactions throughout your day. since we have no BOA in our town we use the app exclusively the majority of the time. I've not encountered a problem yet! Keep it up BOA! Update 7/21/2025, today the app would not accept a deposit no matter what I did. I live 60 miles from the nearest branch and can't deposit. I might deposit in my account at another bank. Pretty frustrating!
when using this new app to pay bills, it's not as informative as its predecessor or as easy to use. It doesn't provide the ability to make a payment above the minimum amount. It would be easier and faster when making payments if all related inf0 was in the same box as in the previous design. There's more. ut I'm busy. In short, please don't fix what wasn't broken. If you want to make your mark, maybe stick to bug fixes.
I've been a BofA customer for over 25 years, long before there was an app. I appreciate how BofA alerts for scams and unusual activity. Their security team phone support will help you navigate ongoing problems. The app is useful in allowing you to cover overdrafts through various ways. The customer service is very helpful, always. I don't think I have ever spoken with a customer service person that didn't go above and beyond in helping. The in-person banking is always great.
Once you get charged a monthly fee for not reaching specific criteria, you basically get subscribed to the fee unless you reach out to tell someone to stop it. Super annoying that I have to constantly reach out to make sure that the fees aren't wrongly charged and it seems like the Customer Support will reimburse it but it doesn't seem like anyone is trying to fix it. What a horrible banking service.
IT SUUUUUCKS! I've been with BoA for a couple of years now and I was expecting better for a big bank. The mobile app is so bad, trying to find a basic task like schedule autopay for your credit card is so painful, and when you finally find it, you cannot set fixed amount. The website is not better. Things are not organized in main dashboard as they could.
I do all my banking from the app. I do not live near Bank of America, so the app makes banking so much easier. I haven't ever experienced any issues while using the app. When I do need help, the messaging option, Erica, helps and is fast, a lot faster than calling customer service, which can take 30 minutes or longer. I hate voice operators.
Today is Saturday, July 5th. I needed to check on a pending transaction on my credit card. When I logged in to the app, I landed on a page that seemed to keep me there until I paid my 2 credit cards. Although I could look at my statements, I could not get to pending or recent transactions. I thrashed around using the menu and other links until I finally found something to get back to the usual landing page, where I could go look at my pending transactions. It is not a good feeling to be trapped.
Recently they changed the mobile alerts for charges made online. Before it would show you the dollar amount, so if you remember your charges you could see it and know where it came from, or if you saw an amount you don't recognize, you could then go into the app and look where that charge came from. Now it just says "debit card has been used online, check for details" so now EVERY SINGLE charge has to be checked to keep in top of any potential fraud. It's incredibly frustrating.
The app works great for checking balances and transactions on checking and savings accounts. It's also great for bill payments, although they could simplify the transaction numbers and make them bigger on printing. Where the app falls short is on CD's, you can't see interest transactions, opening date, or the maturity date. All you can see are the balances and the term. To see that information, I have to log in to my computer.
