I can't compare this to other banking apps as I only have one banking account (besides credit cards), but this app does everything I need and more. It's a breeze to transfer fund between accounts. It has a LOT of notifications which I find extremely useful. Edit as of 7/2/25 when I try to set up a notification of a charge over an amount, it will type seemingly random numbers then crashes. And notification that I have to enter an amount does this.
Reviews for Bank of America Mobile Banking
← Back to Bank of America Mobile BankingI like the ease of seeing your transactions throughout your day. since we have no BOA in our town we use the app exclusively the majority of the time. I've not encountered a problem yet! Keep it up BOA! Update 7/21/2025, today the app would not accept a deposit no matter what I did. I live 60 miles from the nearest branch and can't deposit. I might deposit in my account at another bank. Pretty frustrating!
when using this new app to pay bills, it's not as informative as its predecessor or as easy to use. It doesn't provide the ability to make a payment above the minimum amount. It would be easier and faster when making payments if all related inf0 was in the same box as in the previous design. There's more. ut I'm busy. In short, please don't fix what wasn't broken. If you want to make your mark, maybe stick to bug fixes.
I've been a BofA customer for over 25 years, long before there was an app. I appreciate how BofA alerts for scams and unusual activity. Their security team phone support will help you navigate ongoing problems. The app is useful in allowing you to cover overdrafts through various ways. The customer service is very helpful, always. I don't think I have ever spoken with a customer service person that didn't go above and beyond in helping. The in-person banking is always great.
Once you get charged a monthly fee for not reaching specific criteria, you basically get subscribed to the fee unless you reach out to tell someone to stop it. Super annoying that I have to constantly reach out to make sure that the fees aren't wrongly charged and it seems like the Customer Support will reimburse it but it doesn't seem like anyone is trying to fix it. What a horrible banking service.
IT SUUUUUCKS! I've been with BoA for a couple of years now and I was expecting better for a big bank. The mobile app is so bad, trying to find a basic task like schedule autopay for your credit card is so painful, and when you finally find it, you cannot set fixed amount. The website is not better. Things are not organized in main dashboard as they could.
I do all my banking from the app. I do not live near Bank of America, so the app makes banking so much easier. I haven't ever experienced any issues while using the app. When I do need help, the messaging option, Erica, helps and is fast, a lot faster than calling customer service, which can take 30 minutes or longer. I hate voice operators.
Today is Saturday, July 5th. I needed to check on a pending transaction on my credit card. When I logged in to the app, I landed on a page that seemed to keep me there until I paid my 2 credit cards. Although I could look at my statements, I could not get to pending or recent transactions. I thrashed around using the menu and other links until I finally found something to get back to the usual landing page, where I could go look at my pending transactions. It is not a good feeling to be trapped.
Recently they changed the mobile alerts for charges made online. Before it would show you the dollar amount, so if you remember your charges you could see it and know where it came from, or if you saw an amount you don't recognize, you could then go into the app and look where that charge came from. Now it just says "debit card has been used online, check for details" so now EVERY SINGLE charge has to be checked to keep in top of any potential fraud. It's incredibly frustrating.
The app works great for checking balances and transactions on checking and savings accounts. It's also great for bill payments, although they could simplify the transaction numbers and make them bigger on printing. Where the app falls short is on CD's, you can't see interest transactions, opening date, or the maturity date. All you can see are the balances and the term. To see that information, I have to log in to my computer.
this is the worst credit card app. function wise I mean. it's hard to follow/stay on track. things take too long. the payment/pending payment is REALLY WHAT I HATE THE MOST. You guys should take a run through American Express app. now that's where it's at. you guys could really make some improvements. please don't get mad and close my accounts, I'm just saying that your app could use some work. it's simply not that user friendly. I've over paid my credit card bill several times because of it
I am a senior citizen. I have a disability and I shake badly. I now have trouble signing in because I used to be able to see the digits above the line, so I was sure I hit the right digit. Now, it is just a flash. I also find it annoying that the blue box is not light blue while waiting for the text. Sometimes, it takes more than 10 minutes to receive the text, so it is easier to monitor with it light blue until the text is received.
credit card was compromised. received notification via text at the time. I was able to stop any more transactions from happening. next day I had another text asking me to evaluate the different charges and accept or reject. which I did. the process was four quick steps, my request for a new card was automated as part of this. there was an explanation of what to expect next. just the way this kind of thing should be handled. IT staff-Page by Page transition could use work.some hiccups
Can users be able to zoom in on the text? I don't see it as an option but I would love one. please help. I can't think of anywhere else to give this feedback to. I'm currently trying to read info on my FICO score and I can't read the fine text explaining. well, *I* can read it, but I just feel bad for those who can't read it, like the elderly. If I zoom in, text should grow in size and I would like that to be added into this app for accessibility.
AVOID BOA CREDIT CARDS. Why can't I AUTOMATICALLY pay my credit card to avoid any fees? Chase is so much easier in this area. I've called. "set it up" on my computer. Made sure it was correct and I've still been falsely charged (that what the customer service rep confirmed) and it's still not functioning as it should. I just charged AGAIN. VERY frustrating.
The app could be great if for every action you didnt have to do two more things . For instance. If I need to go to bill pay the option just isn't right there anymore. I have to ask Erica to take me to it, and then it asks for confirmation, so you have to confirm the yes. then it says,Let's go,so you have to click this thing 3 times for every doggone thing. previously, there was a button for it. one action needed to be taken. So why consume our time with tthesextra clicks? I's infuriating!!!!!
The worst bank app. Navigating around the app is difficult. I was looking for how to pay my credit card balance under my credit card account but the option is not there. You have to use bill pay under checking account. On top of that, you can't pay your credit card balance from another bank on this app via ACH with no fee. It will allow you to do so via wire with a $30 fee. You can pay via ACH from a browser, however.
mobile devices are limited to make changes. im not a big fan of how many pages you have to click on for " bill pay". should be a one click to get there, not 3. never understood the rewards program either, and way too much advertising on my dashboard. I just want my accounts and important information provided. should be able to customize this to your liking.
The app always works the way it's supposed to. It's easy to navigate. I do think there needs to be some type of an improvement related to the cash back rewards program and needing to use the links for shopping. there have been several times that I've used links through the app for shopping but didn't get the cash back. something seems broken there.
The biometric login is woefully unreliable. And when I try to use the password, if I accidentally hit a wrong key, I only have a second to notice my mistake. It can lock me out until I set up a new password. (I no longer have steady hands). The way other web sites work, when typing in a password, there is an "eye" icon to the right we can click on that allows us to see the completed password in case we typed any letters incorrectly. I wish you would use that system.
