A wonderful app for using digital resources for Bible study - backed by an even better support team. I had a problem where audiobooks were no longer playing in the app on my device. The team was able to reproduce my issue and worked tirelessly to figure out what the problem was. It took a while, but once they found a solution, they updated the app and now everything is working great. The entire time, Angie, the customer service rep, checked in with me regularly until everything was fixed!
Reviews for Bible App by Olive Tree
← Back to Bible App by Olive TreeAwesome to use and full of a lot of great resources. Definitely the best app for studying as opposed to just reading. Also comes with many reading plans. My only suggestion is that the highlighter be completely updated and changed. The highlighter looks like a weak "text glow effect" rather than an actual highlighting of the text as we're all accustomed to on digital devices and the highlighter is one of the most used tools for most people when it comes to bible study and reading.
Very easily to navigate through the Bible. An app that is intuitive to use and is robust and not prone to glitches or crashes. The user can choose between 3 versions; although, I stick to the NIV and cannot comment on how or if you can easily switch between versions. There's other resources as well, like devotionals, which I haven't tried thus far.
Update: Seems that the crashing issues have been resolved and working fine. Thank you, thank you for fixing it!!! Use to be my favorite app for the Bible. but it's been so frustrating. Strong's lookup crashes, can't highlight anything without crashing. And only solution is to uninstall, reinstall and download all my books again. But that will only work for a couple of weeks before it starts all over. Please fix the software!
Love this app. Settings are amazing, bible selection is great, and I was able to download multiple bibles with different languages. The notes, and highlights connect well over mutliple devices, and are easily accessible for review sessions. My two biggest frustrations are more like areas for the app to grow in the future. I would like the app to stop shutting down when I use it for extended periods of time. It would be nice to have one or more audio versions available for free in the future.
I've used the Android and Windows versions of Olive Tree Bible app for many years. While it isn't perfect, it is the best for experienced disciples on a tight budget. It's offline feature is essential. Novices are cautioned that many available Bible "translations" are inaccurate paraphrases and/or are based on demonstrably flawed texts. Novices should be wary of ebook quality. For example: There are many typos and words added, but not part of the original text, are seldom identified.
Good app for Bible reading, online or offline. The user interface for selecting looking up a passage is well better than most Bible apps. Once two different passage mixed together from a bug, but I haven't seen that happen again. I like that there aren't distracting ads. I also like that I can access the footnotes and cross references in the translations.
Great App. (I have one improvement idea below). I really enjoy the additional organization options for notes and folders that have been added over the years. One feature I have always wanted is to be able to see the first few words of verses under the list of notes and list of highlights. There could even be a toggle button between seeing the list of highlights with what I wrote and then to instead see the same list of highlights instead with the first few words of the verse. I appreciate you!
Love the features bummed that some of the translations cost money. But not that bad considering that the most popular translations are free. Edit: After several years of use, this is still my goto bible app. There have been a few bugs along the way with using it, so i am going to leave my review at 4 stars, but overall, its been a great app to use. i really love the options it has for scrolling through the bible and the additional resources you can use in parallel.
By far, the best Bible study app out there! Easy to use, huge library of materials to choose from at a reasonable price with many items being free. I LOVE the parallel view feature. When I'm studying or teaching, i will always have a Bible translation on the left and a good Bible commentary on the right. Makes my lessons come alive. Thank you Olive Tree!
Would be 5 star is this is a great app. But it is not as user friendly as some other bible apps. One very annoying problem that I have, is that I cannot find any way/setting to make the tiny little star (asterisk) button that you tap for more info/pop up window, to be larger. It's like 1 single pixel in size and I sometimes spend upwards of FIVE MINUTES trying to tap the thing to actually see the additional info in some verses. Or I just give up and move on...
This is the BEST Bible app on the market, hands down. They don't blast you with adds, but they quietly promote when their books and things are on sale - it isn't obnoxious at all. They have a limitless supply of book and audio resources; many of them are free but the paid options are less $ than on Amazon. The only adjustment that could improve the app might be providing more customization in the library (but that's already pretty good). To everyone at Olive Tree: keep up the great work!
Love this apps because it just give so much options to really use it, as if it was a paper copy (I can take note, highlights. They verse reference, I can find a second place where the word or verse was said previous... and much more ). It's like they want to give you everything you need (at the very least the basics) to be able to do your study....Plus they have nice book selection. Some you have to pay but few are free
I really enjoy this bible app. Super organized and easy to use. I like it that you can have to two different translations open at the same time to compare your reading. You can change font, size, color and style. Look up the meaning of a verse, compare others notes, it has verse of the day, you can highlight, have notes, ribbons, bookmarks and it has a dictionary. You have books to purchase as well. I know it has more but I can't think of it right now. I highly recommended.
The app is great. It works exactly as it should. Also, customer support is very quick to respond, usually within hours. The only issues I have are: Verse of the Day: The "frilly fonts" and "cutsie backgrounds" are not why I want a bible app, and they make it extremely hard to read in the notification area. They should offer an option to turn all this off and offer a "Text Only" option for Verse-of-the-Day notifications. My second issue is you cannot set a "start from here" when you leave
Hands down, the best Bible app I've ever used. I have used several and this one is seamless. I love it that I can switch from one Bible version to another quickly and easily. Then I can switch straight over to the versions with Strongs numbers, then straight into a split screen with the greek or Hebrew words and their definitions right there! It works great on my phone and on my tablet, unlike several other apps that work well on one, but not the other. Definitely a "keeper" on this end!
Since when did you implement a 48,000 character limit for notes? I went to edit a note that I've been working on for several weeks, and when I pasted the new content into the note to override the previous version, it wouldn't take all of it. In fact, it cut it off much earlier than the previous version had been saved at, which indicates that this change is very recent... Why??
It has many useful features and I love that I can install it on several devices and take my Bible studies wherever I go! It allows me to take notes on verses, to look up companion verse references immediately, to quickly change between versions for comparison, and even keep track of my daily Bible reading progress. there are many free features, and you have the option to subscribe to various study packages. All of this ( except study packages ) are available with no monthly fee! What's not love?
My wife and I purchased & have been using Olive Tree on Android and Windows for over a decade. It's intuitive, offers essentially all bible translations, and has lots of study resources. It synchronizes perfectly between Android and Windows. Note taking is well integrated; the notes can be exported, if needed, or if the app is retired. The display/presentation is very good, is customizable, and offers a dark theme/background on Android. We tried other apps, but Olive Tree's offering was best.
Honestly, the best Bible app and its no contest. Easily readable offline, doesn't collect any of your data or sells your data, offers a large amount of versions to read, has daily verses and devotionals, and has no ads! Please keep this the way it is and just fix bugs! For those on the fence about trying it, give it a go! You don't even need an account.
