Reviews for Bible verse of the day

I have the notification set, but it only ever pops up when I have already opened the app. That doesn't do me much good for remembering to do my reading each day. This issue being fixed would mean five stars.

The verses are always very short. A longer verse would be nice occasionally. Also, I wish there was a brief commentary/discussion attached with each daily verse for help in understanding more difficult verses to get even more out of the reading.

Really love the transparency setting for the widget - it's so pretty! If you could add an option to choose whether to go to the website or open the app when you click the widget, then it'll be perfect!

It's almost perfect. The ONLY problem is that I don't get a notification in the morning when I check my phone until I open the app. Can't you make it so that I get a notif without having to open the app please? Thank you as always. :)

Good overall, except for some time now, the verse doesn't update daily like it used to. My phone is (and has been) updated and settings are correct. Therefore, it's deemed to be an issue with the app itself.

Great app but way too hard to find where to donate using Google Pay, where I have an account. The author told me how to donate via Google Pay, but it's just too hard to find with the authors instructions. My only option to remove ads is to just uninstall the app. I'll give it 4 stars because I don't know how to donate!

I use this app since years and I loved it so much because of the notification. Since I got my new phone (Samsung 10+) I don't get a notification anymore which is very frustrating!! I tried everything, downloaded the app again, checked my phone, I'm so disappointed 😞

This a great app. More customizable than the verse widget on the You version app. I also like that it lets me decrease the size more. Only complaint I have is that the Bible translation I typically use isn't on the app.

I really enjoyed this app in the beginning. Now for some reason the settings are not working, the widget doesn't open, I do have it set for a specific time but I have to manually open the app to read the Bible verse.

It's nice this innovation, sincerely But there should be options for us to set a particular time we want each verses to stay. Whether we want to be learning a verse every three days or weekly will help have more understanding of what we are reading than in a day. Thank you for the app by the way

Simple, clean, no bulky ads. *Revised* so after quite a long time of utilizing this app I found one thing to suggest. It would be really cool if we could toggle whether it displays OT verses, NT verses or both. I'd really like to have daily NT verses. Otherwise still a great app!

Wow. Most apps aren't worth rating. This app is so simple and exactly what I was looking for for a long time in terms of phone customization. Would be even better if the widget had an option to put an image or shuffling images as a background.

Disclaimer: This review is more about the website than the app. I don't like change! 😖 When I click on it to read the whole chapter, it looks...different. I'm sure I'll get used to it eventually and I even appreciate that you don't have to scroll to the bottom to go to the next chapter. My biggest issue is that I can't have multiple versions side by side anymore. Update: I appreciate the helpful reply and knew there had to be a way. 😊 I love this app. Been using it for years.

I love this app. It helped guide me through the day when I check a new verse every morning whenever I received a new notification every morning. However, for some reason it has stopped sending me them. I have checked my settings and nothing has changed, so why do I no longer receive my valued notifications?? If I could get them back I would give it 5 stars. UPDATE: Following a response from the developers, I followed their suggestions, even reinstalling it. However, still no change :(

EDIT: The developer responded so quickly that i decided to give it another try, this time examining my device closer. Anyone having issues with no widgets showing as even an option to choose in the first place - make sure the app was installed to internal memory and not external. After actually being able to select the widget and try it, i like this app better than my previous favorite "verse of the day" widget app which has become a little wonky over the years. This one is very nice!

Works, but with drawbacks. While it was installed, my phone's battery went from ending the day at around 50% and recharging fully before the next morning, to ending the day around 10% and only getting to about 60% by morning. Not sure what causes this, but as soon as I uninstalled, the issue went away.

Since YouVersion has messed up their app features this year, I was wanting to find a "Verse of The Day" widget that had transparency option avaiable. This one works great, would like to see more English bible versions available. It would also be nice if you were able to change the Tap settings to open your choice of bible app.

I like the app very much. Simple and clean. But... it does NOT refresh daily as it used to! Refresh time is set, but it DOES NOT work!! I do not get a notification. The widget does not update. Very, very infrequently, the verse changes automatically. Even less frequently, notification occurs. The verse does update in the app. Thank you for the prompt response. I can now change rating to 5 stars. DailyVerses accurately and promptly determined the reason for refresh failure. Widget now works 👍☝️

I need a daily verse app because I switched from YouVersion to Bible Gateway, which doesn't have a widget. I'm liking this one so far, for the most part. The one thing I'd change would be to make it so the push notifications show the actual verses, instead of just displaying the date and making you click on it (which makes it go away) to see the verse at all, in the app. I really liked that element of the YouVersion widget and I miss it with this one. Still the best verse app I've tried though!

Nothing fancy but does what it's suppose to, with the added bonus of being ad-free and private. No intrusive popups, in-app purchases, or otherwise unecassary features. Allows for changing translations, viewing previous verses, and setting a time for notifications. Be sure to use the widget too for a nice reminder every time you unlock your device. Also has a website you can use for your other devices. Only nitpick would be the outdated UI, but who cares, worth the free download regardless.
