So here's my take on BimmerLink for BMW and MINI. I've tested a bunch of car diagnostic apps and this one's one of the more in-depth ones I've used. The level of control and data you get access to is pretty impressive, way beyond just checking engine codes. And i like that you can dig into all the sensors and even tweak some features remotely. The only downsides are that the setup can be a bit finicky and the UI is a little basic. But if you're a BMW/MINI owner who wants to really understand what's going on under the hood, I'd definitely recommend giving this a shot.

Description

Been using BimmerLink for BMW and MINI for a couple months now. It’s basically an app that lets you connect to your car’s computer and check all sorts of stuff – like trouble codes, sensor values, and even control some features remotely. Pretty solid app if you’re into tinkering with your Bimmer or MINI.

Here’s what you can do: You can read and clear trouble codes from all the control units, not just the emissions ones. There’s also a ton of real-time sensor data you can check, like oil temp and boost pressure. And you can even control stuff like the exhaust flap or Active Sound Design remotely – that’s pretty cool. Took me a while to figure out all the features but it’s pretty user-friendly overall.

Look, if you’re a BMW or MINI enthusiast who likes to dig into the details of your car, you’ll probably get a lot of use out of this. It’s not perfect – the interface could be a bit more polished and the OBD adapter can be a pain to set up. But overall it does the job and gives you a lot more insight into your car than the generic OBD apps.

The app works good until you need to export your log file. For $50 you get a painfully difficult experience of exporting files. If it actually worked right I could...

Wasted money. Impossible to reset the service interval after doing the service. impossible to reset the error memory.
