update: last week for some reason my account got restricted, and the banner telling me so was blocking the menu. While trying to contact support you just get a bot that tells you to contact via the app (refering to a feedback option that apparently doesn't exist). now the restriction has been lifted for a few days and I'm able to access the menu, but for some reason I have to reverify my pictures. And of course the auto verify function isn't working, so, can't contact my friends. Paying member
Reviews for Boo: Dating. Friends. Chat.
← Back to Boo: Dating. Friends. Chat. This app is a scam. Was getting a lot of profile "likes" while using free mode, but couldn't see who. Since paying for a subscription, no more likes. Haven't received one new like or view. When my subscription ends, it'll be back to blurred faces of people that aren't even the type I'm looking for.
Makes out like it's better than the others but it's not. A bit flashier and promises more but in the end you still have limited reactions on the standard version and unless you turn the filters off, you get very limited offerings, which defeats the object of filters. If you're not hard and fast with your preferences, you might be alright but if you're looking to connect with someone with similar interests who isn't on the other side of the country, you might be waiting a while.
If you do not spend money on this app, you can only do about 10% of what's actually available. The in-app chart of what you get with the free version compared to the premium is hilarious because you get nothing in the free version. Every single feature of the app is absurdly limiting in the free version. I have a message request that I can't respond to or even see who actually messaged me. I tap on the notification for it, and guess what? It takes me to the payment options for the premium.
Of all the dating apps I've tried, this seems to be the most successful and easy to use. Yes, you have the option to upgrade to the 'premium' version giving you enhanced user capabilities but the free version is substantial enough for casual use. No paying to view or send messages, no limit on messaging. Can't complain about it in the slightest. If any, this is the only dating app I would consider upgrading to premium on.
Your swipes are based on how many profiles you see, not like, and 99% of the time you see all the undesirable profiles before seeing 1 person who has liked you, but by the time you reach that person you've run out of swipes. Great. There are practically no profiles in New Zealand, so constantly having "no more profiles" show up. I do like the personality type feature, that is really cool and should be adopted by other apps, too.
So far its pretty decent. Got lots of messages/fr/etc quickly, and if i wasnt so shy, id do the same. However, having to PAY in order to accept friend requests that dont send messages, or see who viewed your profile is a put off. I wanna connect with people and this aspect treats it as a game.
Okay app. Mostly free. Would rather have other ways to pay for temporary upgrades like watching videos or occasional ads. Update: Gave it another shot. Worse than before. Has more bugs, underaged users, scammers and bots. More in app purchases AFTER paying for a subscription. Also customer support stops talking to you if you mention wanting a refund. BOO IS A SCAM!
Used this in the past to no success, decided to try it again, and now I have to pay money just to see a message request? Shamelessly obfuscating matches through a paywall when it's possible that it's not even a real human being on the other end is UNACCEPTABLE. I'm okay with them having premium features, but this should be a basic feature. It WAS a basic feature back when I first used it. Don't give them a single cent.
I spent on the app for three months, like many of these apps all it's ever wants is in app purchases, for more money. Zero, nada, no matches at all. It's a useless app, rather don't waste your time, it's using AI as well so you don't even know if half of the profiles are real on the app anyways. Every now and then it ask you buy something to progress even though you'll have a fully paid subscription.
On one hand I understand the app is not a charity but needs to make money somehow, but like every other app out there it's really frustrating how some functionality that should be basic is paid. But I guess that's the industry standard so eh. I wish it had more robust search and/or an option of limiting the feeds with posts to locals only. Still an interesting cross between a dating app and social media, so I'm rating it high.
Am being shown to people outside of my range, meaning I'm getting "love" messages from interstate people. App is not very popular, meaning that you go through the entire pool of reasonably nearby people within a couple of days. Worst part is the constant notification spam. Endless random notifications, none of them useful, and multiple per day.
has gone downhill the past few years. i used to use this app a few years ago. there used to be a fuction to dress up your boo, join active communities. there were a lot more free functions back then as well and personal customization. now adays its riddled with ai and uncreative marketing. absolutely horrendous transition, and its sad to see such a good app go down the drain.
Just started a profile so not really certain, but it's certainly easy to access. I also can appreciate that it's not just about beauty queens and gym kings. I've already seen a couple people I'd be interested in chatting with on a friendship level. Finding friends has become increasingly difficult so apps like this can bring people together of like minds.
so far it functions as described... its still early yet... let's see what happens when someone tries to chat with me. Stay tuned. updated my rating to 5 stars. this is by far the best app I've ever found to be shown real people who have real interests to potentially meet and interact. I haven't talked to very many yet, but it is very refreshing to not be bombarded with bots trying to use up my free services, AND, the intro rate for 3 months is an excellent price to get a real feel for the app.
This, so far, has been the best app to make quality connections with. It got me back in the MB personality type indicator and even helped me be more reflective of my own self. This app seems to have a little of everything: social media posts, friends, dating, interest groups, and so on. The coins feature is cool and the lack of ads is a huge bonus! I wish this app were more popular, so there would be more profiles.
A lot of decent features, but most of them are locked behind a paywall, or have limited uses. Can't see who liked me unless I pay or like them as well, and sometimes the people who like me are across the world. Honestly, just not worth the hassle. As much as I wanted to find friends or maybe my Player 2 for life (or whatever), who enjoys some of my hobbies, it's just not worth it. Not worth the time or money.
Out of the dating apps I've tried here, this is definitely one of the better ones. It's a little limited in terms of how many people it lets you match with or not in one day(at least without paying for a subscription) but what it does let you have is full featured, you aren't limited in how many messages you can send. The only downside is you can't respond to likes unless you happen to come across them and like them back, or if you have a subscription. Could use a LITTTLE more in the free versio
Having a limited number of "souls" per day instead of likes severely limits the people you can see. Even if you don't send a single like, you only have about 20 people per day to look at. It feels like its basically forcing you to go for a paid version, which is not cheap. Otherwise, the personality test feature is interesting and it seems good at showing you people with similar interests, which is what still earns it 3 stars for me.
The integration of personality type and matching interests is great. It's been smooth to setup and get started with viewing potential matches without paying anything. From what I can see, showing further interest beyond liking their profile requires a subscription? I'm still exploring it so I'm not sure of all the limitations on a free account yet, but the subscription price is very reasonable for anyone serious about meeting people. Great app so far!
