Reviews for Boostcamp: Gym & Fitness Coach

This app has completely reinvigorated my motivation and progress in the gym! Was getting apathetic and going through the motions, not really tracking, and making little to no progress. This app provided a very user-friendly way to track that I actually use! You can make your own custom workouts or they have a ton of great pre-made program by very reputable people in the field. 4 weeks into Albert Nunez's program and have increased weight or reps every session.

I like the programs and the setup, but the app is pretty buggy. Half the time when I try to hit a button or enter a number there's just no response. I have to force stop and reopen several times to get it to do anything. Often I'm unable to enter my numbers until enough time has passed that I've done a few sets and already forgotten how many reps I did in the first set.

What a great app, searching for this for the longest. Store is flooded with so many apps, but at a cost, or worse, a monthly cost, this app is mostly free (just some paid programs for the more advanced), crowdfunded, and simple programs for someone that just wants a plan to follow to quickly start. Small minor bugs could have been forgiven but it's minus a star because this REALLY needs an offline mode, most gyms have horrible reception and this app won't work without data!!

I love this app and the simplicity takes all the thinking out of going to the gym for me. You can watch form videos without navigating away from your workout which I love! It's helped me stay consistent for once. For the devs: It would be awesome if there was a pregnancy lifting routine added as I just found out I'm pregnant and I'd like to continue lifting but safely. I bought the year just before finding out and now I feel like I wasted my money for the year.

I have tried many workout apps, some I have a lifetime membership to. I really enjoyed the use of this bootcamp app; it allows me to do things that the other apps cannot. The way you can plan your own workouts, I love the templates. I would ask for one upgrade and that would be to allow super setting certain exercises within the workout plan. Will be using for a while, maybe Go Pro, we will see after this 8 weeks workout program!

Had an issue linking my premium subscription to my account. Couple of quick emails with support and everything was ironed out. App is also great. But if you're curious if they're just trying to take your subscription fee and leave you hanging - that's definitely not the case. It seems the meat of the app is behind the subscription, but it's worth the price and comes with stellar support.

App was fine until UI change, makes it near impossible to see progression scheme of a program you've already started. Also no option to resume a workout if you accidentally click "finish", you can only go back and edit it. I'll be sticking to paper. Update: tried again, used for a few months, this app has less features than a Google spreadsheet and constantly begs you to buy Pro. 0/10 do not install

Works as intended for logging sets/reps/weight, but often when I try to write notes I get an error, the app reloads, and then the text field I was editing cannot be changed. The notes for other exercises can still be edited, but this often happens for 2-3 exercises per session. I highly value taking notes during my workouts so this is a major issue for me. Edit: Updated the app and have not had the above error since. However, occasionally the app reloads when in use which is slightly annoying.

Overall the app is good with a great selection of routines. The custom routines are where there are major issues though. As far as I can tell, there is no way to simply delete an exercise from a routine. This leads to you having to rebuild the entire routine from scratch. You also cannot delete sets from an exercise that you picked. What's the point of making everything permanent? The experience is just frustrating. Notes below worked! Thanks! Would be great if this feature was more obvious :)

I love searching work outs and finding new programs and that they auto populate for me. I love having Demos right in the work out and all the other information and analytics. I dislike that the demo video crashes the app on first launch. I dislike the auto timer scroll wheel. It's a pain to get what I want. I'd rather just punch in a number. Set and weight data entry is slow and leads to inaccuracies. Overall this is a great app that needs a bit of polish to make it 5 stars.

This app is unusable. If there's a specific routine you want info on, go ahead and install and then write it down so you can uninstall after, the app is too slow to use during rest periods. Additionally, if I'm already doing a routine then it should take me straight to that routine to see what I have that day, but instead you have to go through the home screen where they shill all the stuff you didn't want before.

It's got a bunch of exercises and that's cool. The interface isn't the fastest, but that's a trade off for all the preconfigured workouts. I'm mostly dropping 2 stars cause the rest timer isn't included now without a payment. I mean lol, it's a rest timer and I have to subscribe to pro? Response: I understand that they need to pay developers, I'm just not paying 14.99 a month when all I want is the timer. I'd likely do a one time purchase for some ala cart additions though.

Tell the app my gym setup and my available days per week. App immediately recommends programs that don't match. Tried to work through that and select a routine and think that maybe I can substitute exercises - if that's possible, I don't know how. Honestly, trying to just navigate the app felt like a chore. Ended up deleting and picking up keylifts. Even though it's heavily geared towards 531 routines, it still feels 10x easier to navigate and modify than boostcamp.

Loads extremely slow. Issue was temporarily resolved but seems to be an ongoing issue thst they claim to have fixed. Doesnt have as much functionality as a lot of other apps. Free content is very limited and you can find similar programs online. There is also a problem with naming as the lift selection often describe the lift rather than the exercise being performed.

To the devs: Just started using it. Looks cool but can you upload FitNotes data and or previous workout Excel spreadsheet data into your profile to help adapt workouts to meet you where you're at, so program changes are more smooth? That would be clutch. I might use this app forever if you can do that. Should be pretty simple with AI. Lemmie know if it's there already and I missed it, though. I'll probably change my review to 5 stars later. Just wanna check it more first.

I've been using boostcamp for about a year and it's probably one of my favorite apps Ive tried over the years. Most of the paid features aren't that important to me, so what's available for free is perfectly usable. I would happily pay a one time fee to support them, but I'm not paying a subscription. My biggest gripe is the apps a bit slow on startup, which normally wouldn't be an issue, but lately it seems like if I venture away from the app for too long it has to open up all over again.

This app is excellent, good layout and variety of exercises, and makes progress tracking easy. The reason it's 4 star instead of a 5 star is all because of the pricing model. I want to support the devs, but the subscription model makes using this in the long term frustratingly expensive. $80 a year is a lot to pay just for convenience. I'd actually be likely to pay out for a $80 lifetime license, but instead I'm stuck giving nothing because I don't find the value for money to be compelling.

the app is solid, even though every time you open it, it asks you to buy it, which can be annoying. my major gripe is that their database of exercises is low, and unless you pay, you are limited to 3 exercises you can add to their database, which is insane. you want users to add exercises to your database to make it easier on future customers. also I have had issues when every they upgrade that I've had to roll back to previous versions as it would delete workouts I had previously done 🤦‍♂️.

has potential but unnecessarily rigid UI means creating your own template is somewhere between a nightmarish hassle and simply impossible (cannot, for a simple example, program "4-6 reps" because that is not a numeral and the keyboard does not allow something crazy like hyphens in the rep range). Having to scroll through a million irrelevant exercises just to find the one you want because of overinclusive lists you can't easily filter the noise from? it's a choice...

As of 4/19/25, I've noticed a change with the UI where it overtakes the phones UI. Unfortunately, it's definitely caused a bad reaction where I'm not enjoying using the app anymore. The ability to close the app easily and avoid messing up my workout numbers has become a pain. I still enjoy the workout plans available, so it gets a 3, but without that it would 1 or 2 star for me
