Reviews for Brainscape: Smarter Flashcards

← Back to Brainscape: Smarter Flashcards

BS app. only gives access to ONE set of flashcards before forcing an upgrade of $7-19 / month! I may be very open to this upgrade if I saw a bit more breath of what was available but I'm not going to be forced into it after a few minutes of using the app. count me out. I'm deleting the app now

Updated review (9/15): Bumping this from 2 to 5 stars: - Mobile app card update issue resolved. - Response from Brainscape was timely and addressed issue directly. - App is back to being my go-to for language acquisition. Old review (9/7): No longer takes card updates on mobile ⚠️ Beware, this app works fine until...well, it doesn't. I have decks I need to make updates to on my phone, and when I try to save the updates, the card never finishes "synching" with the brainscape website [...].

Generally does everything I want it to do. Importing and exporting very easy. I am the administrator. Whenever I try to check progress of my students on Android, the app freezes. I can check progress on my computer without incident.

Brainscape has completely changed the way I study. The flashcards are super effective, the design is easy to use, and I can track my progress, which keeps me motivated. I’ve noticed I remember things faster and for longer, and studying has actually become enjoyable. Highly recommend it to anyone who wants to learn smarter, not harder!"

it is good. not all decks are free so you have to buy a subscription but the design is great, a lot of colours, easy to use, just the audio takes time before playing the word/expresion

Fantastic tool. The lifetime package is a good deal and I will be using it in my continuing education as there a number of decks that cover my field. The flash cards are more in depth than my practice test and already created for me. I have reccomended to a few people studying in other fields and they confirm that the cards are a great help.

Very early in my use but so far it has worked great. the UI is pretty good. I wish the numerical assessment of how well I knew the answer was defined a little more. In my mind, you either knew it or you didn't which would result in a guess. Instead of a color system of ranking between 1 and 5, make it a "Yes or Guess" choice. At the moment, it's personally subjective. My experience has been on the free version and I've enjoyed it.

I honestly love this app so much! I have been using Quizlet lately but got quite bored of the layout and it also restricted some useful resources to subscriptions which I did not want to pay for. I went onto tiktok and found this app, I tried it out last night and it is wonderful! I love everything about it. it is very easy to make flashcards and I love the Confidence Scale and how you can choose how confident you are in each card. I also like how you can download it on your phone.

Absolute best flashcards app. Much better than Anki, which Ifound frustrating and simplistic. This one is very effective in letting you rate how well you know something, which then affects how often you're asked again. Color-codibg for degree of mastery also helpful and motivating. I'm using the app in conjunction with an online class (Your German Teacher) and the cards are high quality. App is also easy and helpful to build your own sets of cards. Only slight negative is cost, but worth it.

The app lacks function of the web client. For example, the ability to review ten cards at a time, review certain decks together or separately, as well as a general card count of the deck as you review the cards. Also no real settings function to customize the way you review cards demonstrates more need to replicate what the web platform does quite well.

I discovered Brainscape by watching YouTube reviews of Flashcards APPs. I used a different flashcards app when I was getting my Bachelor's degree, but it no longer exists. I am loving the web interface and how it syncs to my phone. I can use text, images and sound! And of course formatting of text. The algorithm learns from my input and reduces the display of items that I get right, and increases the frequency of things that I need to become more proficient on. Totally five stars!

$20 for 1 month to use all the flashcards?? Dang how much money you think we got in the economy. I'd charge you $20 for the audacity. Reply: No I won't be using this app. I was recommended it by a colleague, but he was able to buy pro at half the price. I'd have considered it then. $20 a month is exorbitant, and "keep the lights on" is a terrible justification. "As you may know" = gaslighting. No, I don't know why this software deserves that much money when others are just as good AND cheaper.

The point of flashcards is memorization and this app was designed around that goal. I've been using this for more than half a year and it's made language learning a lot easier and fun. Also, over the last few months you can tell the developers made everything more visually pleasant. I've had no trouble making note cards from a Latin dictionary, in short this is my favorite app for learning.

I really like this app. I've been wanting to make flashcards to practice for my Salesforce Admin exam but I haven't had time. This app already has the flashcards made! And I love how it has the color coated system for how well you know each flashcard. I wanted to give it 5 stars..it has a free version and the paid version is ACTUALLY affordable. The only problem I had was that I wish I could go back to the previous card while I'm learning. I would give 4 and a half if I could. 😄

Font rendering is poor. Fonts that are clearly italic on the website are nearly imperceptible as italic in the app. Images attached cards are so small that they become illegible, and there is no way to zoom in. This product just isn't suitable for my needs. I'm going back to Anki flashcards. Creating flashcards maybe more difficult, but the end result is what I need.

useful and easy to use. the only issue I keep running in to is that I'm often trying to edit and add more cards but instead it goes to study mode. I think it would be nice to have a toggle that allows us to default to edit or study, so that when we click the deck it goes to what we need, instead of having to go in to the deck settings every time to edit.

I really like the app, it does its job and has a sleek design. There's only a minor inconvenience throwing me off. I'm not sure if it's just my device, but when I write something in the "answer" section of the notecard, I see the text in the textbox jitter a bit. It's barely noticeable but the blurry text messes with my eyes a bit. Aside from that minor nitpick, again, it's a great app!

This has replaced all of my physical note cards. It shows you note cards frequently enough for you to learn them. It bases how often to show it to you on how well you report knowing the card (1-5). It's a great environmentally friendly alternative to note cards as well as more convenient because you're much more likely to have your phone on you than your note cards if you want to study at random moments throughout the day. Love it!

Pleasantly surprised how easy to use this app is and i absolutely love that it tracks your mastery of your flashcards. I'm bummed you have to subscribe to access further features (like adding photos or images/diagrams to cards) i would rather have to purchase the app or pay a one-time fee based on the level of access I'm looking for, or even have to watch adds after every 15-20 flashcards you go through. Overall a great concept, just could use a few modifications.

I've been using Brainscape for a little over three years now and it has gotten me through SO many tests and subjects. The algorithm really helps make sure I can focus on cards that I'm struggling with and I like being able to monitor my progress both within the deck and in the overviews of each class. I also love that I can create my cards on the computer which is much quicker but then always have them in my pocket so I can study while I'm on the go. I've mostly used the free version but I temporarily upgraded to pro for a semester when I wanted more advanced functions for a few of my subjects. One thing I would have liked to see in pro version would be the ability to make tables and graphs directly on the cards rather than having to just paste in photos. The other BIG thing thing I would like to see in both free and pro version is the ability to flip the question and answer card within each deck. I use the app a lot my Spanish and it really frustrates me that I can't reverse the order to see the Spanish vocab first if I've originally written out the English on the question question. This seems like a very simple function to have for a flashcard app and it's the one area where I prefer other programs
