Reviews for Brave Private Web Browser, VPN

← Back to Brave Private Web Browser, VPN

Brave browser is my goto default. HOWEVER after today's update, YouTube videos no longer play in the background or when the screen is off. I have verified that media background play is still turned on and have turned it off and reopened the browser then turned it. back on to no avail. Background play only works if I use desktop mode, but because desktop mode can't just "mode" without changing resolution, I can't switch back and forth....it's not working right! This is the 3rd time!

Recently Brave on Android and PC have been blocking things like screen sharing on Google Meet or camera and video calls from telehealth. I have tried to go in and add site exceptions, but if I go individually to the setting it doesn't allow me to "add" a site exception. It only keeps exceptions if the site asks for it and I say it's ok. I've tried going under site data and allowing things but it never saves the info I input. I want to keep using it, but I'm about ready to go back to Firefox.

This was my browser of choice for years, and generally it works well, however for the past month or so it has been randomly clearing my cache and deleting my saved passwords. Infuriatingly, they do not provide an email to tell them about tech issues, they only use a forum. I'm not making an account for that! Just let me send a ticket the normal way! Since I cannot trust them to handle issues properly, I am seriously considering using another browser despite how much I had liked this one.

For anyone experiencing lack of background play, and your Android system is 10 or up, try going into the browser settings, scroll down to "Media", then check to see if the background play has been toggled to "Off". For some weird reason, the latest update turned off the background play, at least in my case. Doesn't fix the lack of warning, explanation or transparency from Brave, though. I had to find this out, BY MYSELF. So, I'm putting this here, for everyone to find.

I've just about had it with this ridiculous app. It's completely impossible to disable the so-called AI, no matter how many times I disable it, it keeps turning itself back on! FIND SOME CODERS WITH A CLUE AND FIX IT! while you're at it, make it possible to switch to the actual YouTube app when you find a YouTube video from search. All of the versions of this app for the last year throw an error when you try to view a video in YouTube. pretty disgusting. I can no longer recommend this app.

Brave browser is the most secure web browser there is! Based on Chromium, its developers have really put their users' privacy and security first! The browser blocks all trackers and ads from targeting you as long as the shields are up (by default, they are). So, it's virtually impossible for companies to obtain your information based on the websites you visit and you are not bombarded by ads. Pages load up to 8 times faster saving you valuable time.

I was loving this Browser. Now, not as much. When I clear the "Download" history in the Brave browser, it deletes the file from my phone storage. Even after I've moved it to a separate folder using the file manager. That defeats the purpose of downloading the file. Especially videos or music. And there's nothing in the settings to separate the connection between the browser and the files I've downloaded and moved. It wasn't doing that before.🤷🏾‍♂️ Update: I just uninstalled

this browser is what firefox was in the late 2000s. We're reaching the point where they're almost as bad as chrome when it comes to spyware. quit turning back on the settings to track and record my web activity every time the app updates. it doesnt help that every so often they reorganize all of the settings so you have to hunt for the several options (thats right, theres more than one place you have to go to fully disable the spyware). I dont care if you dont sell the info, stop being creepy.

Amazing browser! A working, private browser is definitely needed nowadays. 4 stars, though, only because every time I leave the browser (not closing the app, still open in tabs) it completely resets any window I have open. This is leaving the open browser for not even 5 minutes tops. This would be a perfect browser if I didn't have to find my place in a YouTube video every single time I walk away. If there is an option in seetings that I missed let me know, great work otherwise!

The "block elements" feature icon covers most of the elements I want to block. How about making the block elements icon moveable so I can select the element I want to block. One of the main reasons I chose this is the ability to easily sync bookmarks with multiple devices. Also the ability to easily change security settings for individual websites. Another plus is language translation, which is a big help when browsing other countries websites that don't have a language selection option.

this last update has messed up so many things. I can't copy from the URL box... it just asks if I want to move the bar. the desktop version of some sites (Facebook profile pages) will remain showing the mobile version just to name two that are the most annoying. I've downloaded Firefox and Duckduckgo as alternatives until they get this fixed

I love the idea of this browser. I want to use it for everything. It's still quite a bit buggy though. When replying to a post on Facebook, it starts going slower and slower until I could no longer type, the page is no longer responsive, and I couldn't click on anything or even refresh it. Using the Kroger website while logged in, it froze on a simple page. again I couldn't interact with the site or even refresh the page.

Come on guys what's this lame new desktop stat bar that I can't make opaque or change the color or position of the mobile app still has the nice looking stat bar, the new desktop one reeks windows 11fied being in the bottom middle and you guys are much better than Microsoft. Regardless still an amazing app after all these years, just give us more customization for the stat bar on desktop as I like seeing that number go up :D

At first, I was impressed with Brave's ad-blocking. My opinion soured after I hit a few bugs in its operation. The bug that bothers most is: When 3rd party cookies are disabled, sites can create exceptions to that rule for themselves. Further, those exceptions cannot be removed by the user. The only workaround I could find was to delete all user data.

The best browser for Android and PC. I am using it across all the platforms and really enjoying it. There are so many useful features and capabilities of the browser, many options to customize it - it's a really big product. It has the AI Integrated in it. It is the only browser built on a Web 3 and it supports Web 3 wallet. Also, it has a built-in VPN and Tor browser. Absolutely amazing product!!

I'll give more details later. Brave is really stepping up for the world in a big way. I always feel my data is more private and secure when I use Brave. They have a ton of features. Perhaps too many! I find it always seems as though there are more configurations I need to get done. Guided tutorials such as Google Chrome adopted would be useful.

Functionality of Chrome, but better! I was skeptical of this browser, and the name and icon felt a bit funny. but I gave it a try with some other browsers, and this thing is awesome! works great for blocking ads, and lets me play music and videos with the screen off, in the background etc! There are occasional times it freezes up, but that's not common. adding shortcuts yo the homescreen is a bit less functional than chrome. Otherwise, great job guys. really like it, especially that it's free

Love Brave, much better than other browsers. However I keep running into an issue lately. Even though I've toggled it on, media/videos no longer plays in the background. Very annoying when trying to multitask on mobile. Troubleshooting methods for both the app and my phone have not helped. Other apps of mine don't have this problem, so I think it's brave.

Brave starts out pretty great. Whenever I get a new phone and redownload it for the first time, it succeeds in being the perfect ad blocker but after a few months, it stops blocking the ads and pop ups and no matter what I do, I can never fix it, which is the only reason I use it to begin with. I really love using it but I wish it was consistent.

Happy with the turn on option of the multiple blocking of pop-ups coming from various countries (wording as the language spoken in the country, ie. Chinese, Russian, etc....). It is so annoying to search for something benign as a recipe and constant pop-ups repeated appear while you're viewing ingredient list. I have had to literally close out the annoying pop-ups over and over again without even quickly looking as the ingredient list because pop-ups appear that rapidly.
