Reviews for Brilliant: Learn by doing

Meh. Leagues and streaks are not necessary or valuable. I'm not a fan of the Duolingo style system, so this app, sadly, feels like a bust for me. Very intriguing, but once I start playing with it, it's something to replace doomscrolling for the five minutes it takes to use up the two keys for the day. Update: I found a section that is new to me (number theory) and it is great. I am glad I didn't have to "achieve" that level - I could just start it. Still wish there were more than 2 keys/day

Great for learners of all ages. Wide variety of topics and disciplines, and actually breaks down concepts. Even if you get the answer correct, you are able to get additional context with an excellent "Why?" feature on every interaction. Brilliant is a great platform. As an educator, this app is something I recommend to students and parents for enforcing both difficult and familiar concepts. I've used it as a math activity choice for teaching and personally practice programming with it.

I actually love this form of learning, I'm very much a hands-on person, and Brilliant is just my speed. Now, of course, to unlock unlimited use, you must fork over a little currency, but it's totally worth it. The lessons start out very simple and progress as you learn. I've chosen to pick up some more coding knowledge and expand my knowledge of electrical circuits, wouldn't you know? Brilliant just added a course for that very topic. Can I get a free year? please? 😍 🙏

Maybe it's because I'm trying the free version? Maybe it's because I'm on Android 15. Whatever the reason is it does appear to take several attempts to load the first lesson of the day. It always reports that things appear to be taking too long. Not a great incentive to move to the paid subscription version. My bad. The impression I have is that the free version allows you one lesson per day. After that lesson is completed no more will load. I'm thinking I'll uninstall the app.

I want to love this app. I really do. The concepts offered are genuinely interesting. But the teaching quality is SO shallow. There are no dictionaries for arbitrary jargon that appears randomly. Explanations don't explain the concept in depth, just how to solve the exercise. I had trouble with Mersenne primes and despite finishing the course, I still don't understand them. Certain exercise series are poorly designed and frustrating even if you do understand. So much potential, but falls short.

reviewing the free version, statistics course. it's a good way to supplement a more traditional course. I like how it keeps you engaged with the material. with a limited number of activities provided per day, I wish the app were smart enough to forward me ahead to my current level of understanding. For example, if I answer every question about bar graphs correctly and quickly, I shouldn't be asked to review that material before progressing to the next lesson.

Sometimes locks up, screen goes blank, and you have to relaunch and navigate all the way back through the lesson to get back to where you were. Subscription price is too high for what you get. Poor performance over cellular network, almost certainly from network activity on the UI thread. Good concept, but lessons and app implementation both need work. Advertised on basically every science and technology YouTube channel, but sadly the execution is very mid.

This math app Brilliant is great! Found it for my son so he can study some geometry on the go. I am using it as well. It is very user friendly, cool graphics, and thoroughly explains the why of each concept. They offer a free 30 day trial which is awesome so you can get acquainted with it before you pay a subscription.. We give it 5 stars!

I paid for this app and I'm not sure there is a free version beyond a trial period, but I love this app regardless. I've been wanting to learn Python scripting for a while. This makes it easy by breaking it down into quick, bite sized lessons. I've also taken courses on AI and can't wait to explore what else I'll be able to learn.

For how much this app is advertised you'd expect the free version to be less limited. You can do 1-2 exercises per day. If you're not premium you can't jump ahead in the lesson plan. I like the idea but the paywall is placed too close to the beginner experience. Also, way too many premium ads. Calm down. The cost for premium is way too high $25/mo is kinda dumb considering I can just youtube or ask jeeves about most of this info.
