Reviews for C-MAP Boating

Following subscription activation, the AIS functionality is not operating as expected, and other vessels are not visible. Despite submitting a support request via email, a response has not been received. The technical support team's assistance has been unsatisfactory, and the after-sales service is deemed poor. When encountering issues with vessel detection, the response provided has been that no vessels are present in the area, which is inaccurate given the current location in a port anchorage

so far so good, enjoying the features but the only annoying thing I've found is not being able to have the depth in metres and distances in nm.

After using this APK for years it has become so unstable, can't record tracks takes a long time to load won't show properly coarse or speed. I've sent many emails and had no reply or help . I have over 90 recorded tracks stuck in this APK I can't do anything with very frustrating and annoying. Used to be my favourite APK but now I'm disinstalling it for good and going to use Sea people APK which is much more reliable and stable even when my phone is off it still records tracks.

AWFUL and dangerous!! I installed this app and took the premium subscription in order to be able to download charts. You never know the kind of coverage you will have while cruising. The details of the charts were very poor (dangerous!) and the app kept crashing while also having a bad gps précision (which other apps used at the same time did not have). I thought that it was also my phone but I have now upgraded to a Pixel 9 256gb and it's the same!! REFOUND needed!! but can't see where to ask??

Good overall, with a simple interface. It has very configurable display details and settings but does seems to be missing some basic options- for example, you can't have depths in metres with distances in nautical miles! Every navigator I have ever known uses nautical miles and knots for speed and distance... which fixes depths in feet! I really like the display options for overlaying satellite with controllable transparency and the bathymetry information. The vector charts are clear.

Good maps, but unable to edit or delete routes. When clicking it, nothing happens. Looks like a bug in the app, which is disappointing to see, as the app is generally great. I'm afraid that I will stick with Garmin Boating until the bugs have been resolved.

I was about to buy the paid version to download offline maps when I noticed a lot of the features I loved about this app were gone. I used to like the ability to set death limits and height limits for my sailboat to plan my route. I don't know if these are only on the paid version but this makes me hesitant to upgrade with these features being gone.

The product itself is awesome and user friendly, however the app isn't optimised for Android, with buttons often popping up at the very bottom of the screen where they're blocked by the Android home, back and menu buttons. Additionally when the keyboard is brought up to type it simply blocks off the entire bottom 3rd of the screen, so you can't see what you're typing. very frustrating when you're paying for premium and your experience is limited by silly things like this.

Confused! I downloaded the app because I have ordered a Reveal chip for my boat. After zooming in on a home lake and setting up my custom colors for depth ranges, the app doesn't provide a way out of that or a way to actually save it. Not to mention, it's only coloring the selected ranges along the shore and not humps in the lake! I pray it works better in my Lowrance unit!

They broke the app. I was using it for navigation for sailing for a couple years, for Day sails around me home waters. Mostly just needed it for quick bearings to fix my location or heading. They removed that functionality, you can no longer take a bearing from your position to a waypoint. It's a navigation app that doesn't navigate.

HRB detail is nice in my area but still having frequent issues with my real time position not updating during navigation on the water. I have to close the app and re-open every time this happens. I cannot safely rely on it any longer. Also, my waypoints are not populating on the map on the desktop web version of the app. They show in the list but not on the map. I've been using for two years and have had a subpar experience communicating with customer support. Google Pixel 7.

When I first got this, I wasnt expecting much. I thought navionics was the standard as far as these topographic apps. Wow, was I surprised! Cmap had everything I wanted and more. The map of my home lake had so much detail(better than navionics), and the gps accuracy was right on. I have both apps on my phone (cmap, navionics), and I always seem to use the cmap instead if the navionics....its just better all around. Try cmap in comparison to navionics. You will see the difference also...!

The charts for my area appear to be very good, but downloading them took almost 24 hours on a good internet connection. The dependence on mobile data for features like AIS is a huge issue. In my area, for example, there is little or no AIS internet connectivity, so relying on mobile data and internet for AIS is a serious problem, and mobile data offshore for me is spotty at best. Your competitors provide a relatively simple means of bringing AIS, depth and position data into their apps via wifi, but clearly this hasn't been a priority for you. Your reliance on the use of tablet internal GPS instead of ship's GPS could be viewed by some as downright dangerous. If you want this app to be considered a serious navigation tool you need to make is usable for a boat that is disconnected from the Internet.

Just downloaded this app and signed up for the free trial to see what it could do. Simply put...it can crash. That's it. I couldn't even get through getting my settings set up. And I am at home in the comfort of my living room with a high speed iunternet connection. Imagine trying to do this on a boat at sea!!!!! If you enjoy the "C-MAP isnt responding...close/wait" error on your android device by all means. Honestly I'm having a hard time figuring out why this app even exists.

I love this app and I haven't even used it on the water yet! It continues to surprise me with its many functions. Easy to use to plan trips. Plus, I love the weather (wave, wind) info you can get for not only where you are but where you're going. Honestly, I can't think of anything I don't like. While I have a chartplotter on board, I'm a big fan of redundance so having this app on my phone is helpful. Will update review if it changes once I get on the water.

Multiple menu loops (multiple ways to get to different menus and settings). Just makes the app very cluttered and confusing to use. AIS does not work anymore! Ever since the recent data breach or around that time I cannot get any AIS contacts to display despite it saying on and connected. Starting to regret paying for the membership. Update - Support got back to me and said the AIS function is still broken and refunded me.

Does not work 90% of the time and there is no customer service. I called US support and was "next caller in queue" for almost 2 hours before it disconnected. Never once did anyone answer. I also emailed over a month ago and asked for updates several times. No answer. I don't think there is customer support for c-map products. Sadly I paid for a subscription. I would like my money back!

Can't log in anymore. Changed password and says that I already have an account and to use those credentials. I did use the original password, used the option to change the password and nothing worked. So it is now almost May and I still can't get into my account! I have no luck calling it just rings and the hangs up. Went to all the affiliate companies and tried the password and changing it, still nothing. All of the data I spent days inputting was a waste.

The maps are great for sailing if you have WiFi and they fix the login bug. Unfortunately, I can't even see a single map at this point in time. I paid for the pro version for a sailing trip. Unfortunately, the offline maps have poor resolution. Maybe user error, I'm pretty savvy though. Even worse, to use the app, you have to have Internet or you can't log in. And now even worse, after an update I can't even login on my phone or tablet. Some Facebook login error with C-Map...

The most broken app on my phone and we're apparently meant to navigate waterways with it! Open the app and immediately get an "error configuring SD card" message. After that the map may load in 5 minutes or maybe it won't ever load. Trying to download offline maps yields "Offline map downloads are unavailable. Please restart the app and try again." You can restart the app as many times as you want and this feature will never work. C-MAP has always been buggy, but it's now totally unusable.
