Reviews for Cahokia AR Tour
← Back to Cahokia AR TourNeed headphones and shade for it to work.
Open app, black screen and it closes.
NO SPEAKER AUDIO. MUST HAVE HEADPHONES CONNECTED. I Don't carry headphones. Terrible design. Who thought this would be a good idea? WHY?
0 stars if it would let me. Will not work. Tried everything and it will not acknowledge it. Waste of money. Took my money with no problems.
Doesn't open. Restarted my phone and still won't open.
This was really cool! Feedback, abbreviated by 500 char limit: + paced almost perfectly, taking me 20-30 minutes total + available for both IOS and Android (wags finger at Lincoln Home National Historic Site) - app is a 385 MB?! by far the biggest I've ever seen; developer needs to scrutinize that -- compress your imagery? - until compressed, offer wifi info - AR zone audio should keep playing after you walk away, so you can listen as you move; maybe change rule to only START audio if in zone?
Excellent companion to make the most of your visit!
Closes immediately after opening. Not sure why. Would have loved to use. 5 bucks wasted.
Being able to look around and see how things might have been especially being able to pick the level of reconstruction I wanted - I liked sliding back and forth between full then and now.
App crashes without opening. Purchased day of eclipse. Have not been able to use at all so far.
App keeps crashing, tried on multiple phones. Working on how to get a refund after second install.
Realy cool concept! I recommend getting it, although it is a little buggy on android compared to apple
The app is really helpful to visualize what the city might have looked like. The downside to the app is that much of the educational content can only be accessed when on site. My family and I ran out of time visiting the site and were hoping to take advantage of that content later.
Takes a long time to load each screen. You MUST stand in front of the AR plaque or else all content on the screen goes away. This is terrible. If more than one person is in the same spot you're out of luck if you wanted to read anything or see the historic overlay. This project would have been better as physical panels of acrylic glass with the art instead of an app.
Definitely worth it!! This app make our trip to Cahokia much better! We had visited in 2023 and the app wouldn't work for us. We visited again over Memorial Day weekend 2025 and the app worked flawlessly! It is very cool to see what the Mounds might have looked like when Cahokia was inhabited. The voice over walking tour is perfect also, just enough information and direction to make it feel like you have a personal tour guide walking with you! Well worth it if you are already visiting!!!
I hesitate to give 1 star because I didn't get to try the app. I do not have headphones with me, and I'm not even certain my Google Pixel 6 android phone accepts a plug-in. I use Bluetooth to connect to my hearing aids. I wish this app would accept that method. Please keep working on this app. I hope it takes hold and becomes a norm at other historical sites. I'm very excited about using Augmented Reality (AR) for this type of purpose.
Don't install this app! I did and it crashed my phone. It seems malware was also installed. When I activated the AR feature of the app, it froze my screen and within minutes, my screen went black and could not be recovered. I was forced to buy a new phone. I want a refund AND reimbursement for the cost of my ruined phone.
Only being able to use ear plugs is unfavorable. For a paid app I would like to be able to relisten and look at the scenery after I get home because you miss things on the walking tour. There should be an option to view all of the same imagery and data through the app when you are not on site.
The AR tour won't work until you scan the ground around the sign. I've been scanning the ground for fifteen minutes. Figure out another way to make this app work. **edit** It took me twenty minutes, but I got it to work. After that it worked very well. The app was very informative and added a great deal to my visit.
