Really great app when you're online, unfortunately very lacking offline. Why can't you download any area why are you locked in to predetermined rectangles? Why can you only download a selection of layers? I want to download my custom TMS layers. Probably gonna cancel my pro subscription, if this is fixed I'll resume and give 5 stars
Overall decent, some caveats. The data availabe isn't the same in different countries. In Canada the Geology, Public Land, Parcel Data, and Motor Vehicle MVUM "overlays" don't exist. The scanned topos available in Canada are inferior to the ones available in the USA. Satelite imagery isn't available for download in Canada. Even with the inferior quality of the product in Canada, we are paying the same for a subscript as customers in the USA who have access to better base maps and overlays.

I'm sure I'm just the latest GaiaGPS refugee to move over here. App is data rich and not bloated, will be subscribing. At this point so jaded that I'm just hoping for a good year or two until enshittification comes for this one, too. 😮💨
Despite its advertising the contrary, the app REQUIRES you to sign in before you can use it. UNINSTALLED.
Cheap and highly functional. Excellent for downloading routes and layers in advance for offline use.
Essential tools for navigation and outdoor recreation if you travel widely. Phone hardware requirements are high, but I find it less buggy than other apps such as Alltrails and Gaia when I needed to download a lot of data.
and otherwise decent mapping application is ruined by clunky and inconsistent login process! For example, to sign up to their help tracking system, you create an account on caltopo itself with a password that is dedicated to that login. But when you try to upgrade or add a pro subscription, it expects you to still use an existing social media accounts such as Google or Facebook. this is total BS! why can't I just upgrades directly from the app? instead, it sends me to a browser! Fire the IT team
Best map app I have used. As a geologist and outdoor enthusiast, this app has many features that help with work and play. I particularly like that is easy to integrate lidar data (shaded relief). That alone has saved me hours of importing and converting lidar with various GIS platforms.
