Very messy but cute, but messy. A little bit too complicated, and things i submit dont work or I have to make a whole separate document in order for it to work. Alot of my assignments go missing or lost. I sometimes miss assignments because either the teachers don't put due dates or the "to-do" is messy. The app is practically useless, as you mostly have to do everything on a computer, cause it won't let me sign in on my phone. Etc etc..
Reviews for Canvas
There are way too many bugs and missing features on this app. Random crashes, not being able to go back into a paragraph to edit something (it just goes to the end after one character entry), screen time outs. There is no word count in the text block and the text tools are very limited. You can't see the original post when replying to a discussion. Very dissatisfied with this app. You're better off using the mobile website.
I really like it! I do think Google Classroom is a little bit better, because it is easier to create assignments (according to my social studies teacher), and it is just a little less confusing for the students because Canvas has more things that you are able to click on, that just aren't useful at all. It also took me, like, a month after downloading it for it to actually let me sign in. So yeah, it is pretty good, but it could be better
I use this for most of my course work and rely on it. However, there are a lot of bugs that need to be worked out. The To Do widget does not show the actual To Do list. Notifications do not always change to show they have been read. (I currently have several notifications that will not go away.) Some discussion comments always will not change to be read. Syllabi and embedded videos do not always work, same with some hyperlinks.
Normally worked fine on iPhone, on the s20+ it doesn't work reliably, which is very important when it comes to school. Edit. Reliability is an under statement. It will just randomly choose to not let you see your assignments or grades tab for some classes, and after that happens it never fixes itself. Regardless of resetting the app, phone, or even re-downloading.
It's Canvas, love or hate it. It's a faithful port from the website, and has some useful features like widgets and notifications. That said, the widgets are sort of a mess. They don't always update, so you could be relying on outdated information. On top of that, your "to-do list" widget doesn't clear your submitted assignments and has trouble with class discussions, so you're both missing discussions that are due, and being told that you still need to do assignments you've already completed.
Useless notifications. They all group up into one blob. It makes it so when I click on the notification of 3 notifications, it goes to a random 1. It then clears the other 2. The app is also different from the website. For example, I can't change the email notification settings (which is essential, due to the broken app notifications.) No dark mode
Kind of a mid app, but it needs to be better considering I need to use it every day. It is really slow for no clear reason, and the document scanner is trash. Also, sometimes it glitches out and makes me sign in to Microsoft, but no keyboard shows up for me to type in my password. And in the to do list I often mark things done that I did on paper, and no matter how many times I mark it done, it never goes away. Better than the website is on a phone, but that's not saying much.
It's usable, but it needs a bit of work. Duplicate notifications cannot be turned off, and after the recent updates, comments will not show up for assignments unless they're file submissions. Dark mode does not affect the actual document body of lessons. Marking a lesson as read and moving onto the next does not work. You have to mark it, refresh (sometimes several times) and THEN tap on the next page from Modules. Otherwise, the app works, I suppose.
The app works fine for getting a basic overview of things, like checking what's due and what your grades are, but too much of it doesn't work right. Assignments with long explanations only show the first few paragraphs, text post assignments don't tell you what the prompt is, dark mode consistently makes text unreadable, etc. Pretty much the only thing it's good for is telling me whether or not I need to open my computer to get a better look at what's going on. Don't expect to get any work done!
