In January my Jeep was rear ended and my insurance deemed it a total loss. I was already thinking about purchasing a newer car but with working 60 hours a week going to all sorts of dealerships wasn't an option. I searched online as much as I could and installed a few of these apps. Let me tell you... This is the way to go. I was able to put in the year range, price range and must have features. I saved a few of the options and ended up buying 1 of the saved options that I found using the app.
Reviews for CarGurus: Used & New Cars
I can't even explain how much I hate this app! Service! Everything about it 🤬🤬🤬 I used to love it, but now I get constant emails about cars that I've never even saved never even looked at and cars that I have saved once they're sold you can't delete them so it always shows that you have cars in your watched or saved list and constantly alerts you about it. DO NOT GET THIS APP!!!!!!
Now, this is the back of the list, I assume you are on top of other things more important, but, I have a few ideas to help your app assist people focus on snagging a keeper as quickly and smartly as possible. First, I really wanted an option to select multiple types of cars in a given search, because I would be ok with a hatchback civic or otherwise, and, if nothing matches a search, I think it should keep those settings the same when you go back so you don't have to start over to adjust them.
Very slow. Searches are terrible. I searched for all vehicles under $3k and it's giving me vehicles up to $55k! So I do a different search, then it gives me mostly no price cars. I clicked the box so it wouldn't, yet it still does! 2 of my boys wrote apps. They looked at it and said it is written terribly, like maybe a high schooler did it.
I generally use my Android phone to access CarGurus through Chrome, a web interface. Lately I have felt like the CarGurus site was extremely slow. so I opted to download the app and access CarGurus that way. my experience with the app is that it does not work. there is no way to look for used cars. If I click on used cars, it does not give me the ability to narrow down a particular brand. When the app begins to load and look for cars, it tells me it is searching through 40,540 cars. App=junk.
Edit 3 years later, still having problems with the search. One way gets 20 cars and the same search but selection a different order and I get 50 results. Also we are 2 full years past COVID, could we stop with the supply and damn lies. Please. Any car you want is available. Very difficult to use. Don't ask me to send you my experience, I don't work for you I'm not part of your ux team.
Not good. The car search screen is not effective at all. The slide bars are inaccurate and because they operate through touch, when you release the button it slips and the value is not right. For the entire car search filter, i would recommend type in boxes, min and max. And then ensure that the search results fit the search criteria. Ive done searches where i wanted cars less than $10k. Once i hit send i still see cars for $19k, or $21k (and they are not sponsored ads) please fix this issue.
Same as Carfax. Only wants your information will only let you shop in areas where you know the ZIP codes. What if you don't want to buy cars near you and don't have a specific zip code? 9/1/20 already erased app. Don't need an app with learning curve. 3 years later same story. Just added back, still sucks. I use autotempest to search for cars now. It's a lot more efficient than han using any of these car buying apps.
your pages don't load properly in the internet format or the app format. You send emails showing a new listing, but when I open it, it's for a different car than the one in the email. And worse, you send me info on cars that are far away and not within the parameters of my indicated distance. You're making it more frustrating to shop for a car than it's worth.
Most results are out of town/out of state despite the search area you choose. I'm not going to buy and ship a vehicle I haven't seen or driven from another state. This used to be a great app that I recommended to everyone I know! Now its just a way for dealers to try to sell their vehicles to people on the other side of the country. Uninstalled as I am sick of seeing something I really like, only for it to be 1,200 miles away. I want to see/buy something local that I can look at and test drive!
