Reviews for Carista OBD2

It used to work on generic Elm327 cheapo obd11 Bluetooth adaptor. They have introduced a feature where it only works if you use their Evo adaptor. We all know what comes after you go down that path. Subscribtion rates will go up. A basic law of the jungle. I have tried 3 or 4 different Elm327s and none connect. I don't believe you.

gets more expensive yet half the customise features still don't work. Now they have even locked more diagnostics behind the pay wall and upped the price by 50% with no new working benefits to justify it. The amount of times it has accidentally renewed over the few years I have had it as well just adds salt to wound from a money hungry company with buggy features in their app. looking for alternatives as I won't pay 15 quid for 1 month.

APP AGAIN IS UNSTABLE!! NOW IT DOESNT RECOGNIZE MY ACCOUNT LOG IN!!! Editing review: I have reset the Carista OBD2 module by pulling it out and putting it back in. It appears to be workiing fine now. I have requested some time ago that you make the font for the TPMS reading a little bigger. The screeen has plenty of room on it but the vital numbers, the actual Tire Pressure are so small I need to take the phone out of it's cradle to read it. Every other useless font is big enough to read.

I can't believe they haven't added support for the MK9 transit, it's only been out for 6 years. otherwise good product

I'm giving you five stars. I haven't used the app and only downloaded it to give a review. I came across your app on another platform and I thought it to be genius. I love that there are people out there creatively innovating ways and means to make things that are complicated or time consuming, simple to understand and do. Life is hard enough as it is and it makes my day when I stumble across amazing ideas such as this. Well done.

Excellent and easy to use app for diagnostics, much more than basic OBD2. Nice interface, quick response, can unlock a lot of hidden festures, whuch you cannot via car built in menus. BUT you cannot perform maintenance tasks, like bleed brakes, reset service intervals, test systems, like ABS, vipers etc, which you can do with ThinkDiag or Carly for example. If you ask me, Carista has most user friendly interface, ThinkDiag has all features almost all mechanic needs, but interface is confusing.

I purchased a one month only non-renewing subscription. Carista still charged for another month. I had notified of my cancellation of Carista before the posting date of the additional month of a non-authorized charge for what I thought was a one month non-renewing subscription originally purchased per there selection at time of purchase. I can't recommend Carista and would suggest using a different device and app for service because of their, shall I say, questionable and unclear subscriptions.

It's genuinely crazy- you buy an adapter...and then they force you to buy the software subscription just to use it! After the 30 day "free trial" expires im stuck with a useless tool. And it's a lie that it gives you "basic" codes even without the subscription, it rarely might but usually it's all blocked out. Total waste of money, just get a relatively inexpensive real hardware scanner...

Beware, this is a scam. if you purchase a 1 month subscription, it enrolls you in a MONTHLY subscription. This is not stated anywhere. The device was missing features they advertised, so if you think you're paying for a one month trial, you're not. Check your Google Play account.

I bought the Carista OBD2 adapter and a subscription about 2 years ago. I unlocked some features on my Toyota and canceled the subscription. Now that I have a different car, I checked for compatibility and it said I could unlock features. Only after paying $15 did it bother to tell me I need the upgraded adapter. I spent the money, but to do anything they need more. Feels like bait and switch at this point.

It was confusing at first to use. Nothing work except to read. Once I was in contact with support, it work after the full subscription was pay. I was able to reset a few thing on the wife car. Also found things the car did not have some option. In all, I have to say, it did save us money than going to the dealer. I recommend Carista has to post on their site to on full pay subscription will grant all option. Thanks again for the support.

Only use this to clear my inspection due every time I change my oil. So 2 or 3 times a year. These are single use times. It's a shame you have to opt in for the full month. The last time I subscribed I didn't realize I didn't cancel and paid 6 months straight even though I didn't use it. Wish they had a more efficient billing method but I guess they make their money, banking you'll forget to unsubscribe for single use cases.

For the price of the annual subscription, you can buy an actual vagcom scanner and never pay another cent. Can't recommend due to this and the fact that without pro, it won't even - show- any codes, let alone let you clear them. Lifetime for that price would be a fair deal, but as it is, it just seems greedy on their part. Also didn't receive my free trial of pro, so I had to spend 10 dollars just to find out if it worked. ( Dev lies, cheapest stand alone is 45 and resets codes, unlike theirs)

I realized I was a bit too harsh with my original review. So I am editing it, the app works just fine, the rating is reflective of their pricing strategy. I deal with Chinese manufacturers of similar things every day. Even with the tariffs, they are making a good bit of dough selling you a 60$ OBD2 dongle. This is fine I guess, because it does give you very limited ability to change a couple of options. The subscription is WAY overpriced and not worth it with no lifetime access option.

The app itself is good. A well made product. It's a little misleading as far as the functionality as it does not exactly tell you if it's "really" available to you or not. Until you find out that it's not compatible with your car. At least there's a trial but I would be ticked off if you had to buy their OBD2 and go through the hassle of finding out that not all functionality they list aren't 100% accurate. It's more of a shortcut to already available features is all...so I canceled my trial.

Nice app, poor promo info. On the Carista website, it states you get a one month free trial. This is true, but only if you purchase an annual subscription (which you can cancel within 30 days). Since you can also request a refund with Google Play in the same time frame, it's not a true promo. That being said, love the functionality when used on my Audi B9 A4. Wish the app was a bit faster, but that could be the fault of the connection between the adapter and phone instead of the app.

forced login before I can test to see if it's worth signing up for. Then they lied to me, saying that I can still check compatibility and run a basic scan. The login screen is the very first thing that happens when I activate the app. Do not pass go, do not check compatibility, nothing. Like I said, forced login. If I knew how to block a developer from ever showing up on my searches, this would be one of them.

It's not true that they give you basic codes for free. Though the app allows you to turn things "on and off", i was very dissapointed when none of the costomizations took effect in my case. I am now left with a very slow diagnostic tool. As other people said, do yourself a favor and buy a traditional code scanner, if that is what you are looking for.

I've had this app installed on my phone for years. When I first installed it I remember making changes to my Toyota for free. The next time I tried the app it required a purchase. No problem. I buy almost every app I use. Figured I would buy next I used. Price doubled. Starting saving my Play balance. Price doubled. It was up to $20 last time I checked. Expensive, but still on my list. Opened today to buy...$40 a year. Yikes. My fault for waiting, but wow. Insane. $10 one time also insane. Uninstalled.

I get it, I really do, to keep an app running, they need money. However, it used to be free just to SEE the trouble codes. I didn't mind it when they required me to pay to reset the codes or do other extra stuff, but now I have to pay to do a basic function (which, might I add, takes forever to load all the codes)? No, no more. This reminds me way too much of Gameloft. I'm ditching this tool and buying a dedicated scanner that doesn't need a cash-cow app. It was good while it lasted. EDIT: Nice try, Carista, but that isn't true. It hasn't always been a paid-for feature to SEE codes. I used this app for two years, and I could see codes just fine without a subscription until now. If you're going to try to deceive people, at least make it believable. I'm never returning to this sketchy brand. Buyer beware!
