Reviews for Cashew—Expense Budget Tracker

This app is amazing. I love all the features for it being free. I am considering purchasing the full version, even. But I like how you can manually enter and edit transactions and budgets versus linking your accounts and having things just set. Sometimes things need to be edited, and on other apps you can't add notes or make edits as easily as with Cashew. Highly recommend.

Genuinely the best budgeting app I've found, completely customizable and they don't make you link your bank account if you don't want to, and you can still use all the features, the "premium" version is also free, like they ask for a contribution but if you can't afford another subscription you can still set more than one budget and everything, the interface is also very very well designed and pretty intuitive, would recommend to anyone who wants to get their finances in check.

So far so good. Just switched from Wallet (which I've used for over 14 years), because they keeping hounding me to get the paid version, limited how many accounts I could have, and display ads where the "X" is on different sides of the screen. So bye bye I went. Checked out Mint, Expensify, Clarity Money, Every Dollar, and a bunch more apps only to find that their "FREE" accounts were only free for like a week. Then it's $20/month or whatever. Ridiculous. This app seems to be perfect so far.

Cashew is by far the best financial app I've tried. It's got everything you could want, and the design and UI is top-notch! My only suggestion is to add more subcategories for expenses. For example, under Groceries, it would be great to have options like 'Groceries > Fruits > Apples, Banana.' Right now, you can only add one subcategory, which can be a bit limiting. Overall, I'm so impressed with Cashew that I'm seriously considering getting the premium version.

Wonderful experience. Does everything you need it to do (besides maybe investments) for free, without ads, and in a pretty UI. (There's a web UI and sync too!) I get a tiny bit of stutters here and there, but it's worth it, even paying for the premium version (even though you can use paid features for free) is worth it just to support the developer.

Best budgeting app Ive ever used! Took a day or so to setup, so It comes with a little bit of a learning curve but ultimately worth it. You can get even more out of the app by purchasing the pro version and they have subscription options but I would recommend the purchase for a lifetime which is currently only $20! Might seem steep to some, but if you are using this for budgeting a one time purchase to manage your money going forward is a small price to pay to secure financial freedom. 10/10!

Great app! Only thing I noticed that needs fixing is how a certain repetitive transaction that falls under income category disappears after a few deposits. I deposit daily and then I notice it, which is not really a problem. Only thing I'm worried about is that if it happens to other transactions which I don't memorize so I'm afraid I might miss one.

Bumped it up to 4 stars after the developer responded quickly and explained some things. Instructions or help files would still be a +. The main reason I tried this was for downloading transactions from my bank. It is a little intuitive, but not enough to make a big impact. After some practice it is better, but it still takes a lot of time to prepare the bank file upload. Individual entries are fairly simple. No ads is a +. Customization is ok. I'll wait for the next update before a final rev

I was able to import +5000 transactions from my original budgeting app, and it was seamless. I would give it a 6 star if I could, because this app is amazing, even for free version! I don't need the full option, but I'll pay for it just to support. I hope in the future that there's a functionality to read SMS messages and automatically make transactions - then it would be beyond perfection. Please consider!

This is a fantastic app. It has all the essential features you'd need in a budget app, as well as a few convenient extras, all for FREE - and presented by a beautiful and intuitive interface. However, there is no bank sync. Not a dealbreaker for me though, as I prefer manual entry. Additionally, if you want to upgrade to unlock more features, the subscription is priced $1.49/mo, which imo is super reasonable. Plus, $20 gets you lifetime access so you're not stuck in a monthly subscription loop.

Actually free with no ads! Overall it has everything I need for simple financial management and to help know where my money is going. Haven't gotten a chance to try out all the features yet, but so far I like what I am using. Thanks for the great app! Some criticism: Would be nice to be able to set up default categories for each budget. Example: one of my budgets is food. It'll always be dining, but it requires you to select the category every time. Doesn't even allow you to skip it.

Ive tried a lot of budgeting apps and this has been the only one I stuck with. I don't need a ton of budgeting help and I didnt want a random app linking to all my accounts so manual input is a plus for me. While there is a paid version, unlike every other finance app that paywalls you, you can choose to not pay and still get access (But I havent needed the premium features), which is why I'm choosing to give the devs money and even writing this review. Thanks devs for making a great tool.

So far so good! I had been tracking my spending on a simple note on my phone for years and then found you could use Excel on the phone too...but that was frumpy! Went searching for apps, downloaded a few. Many riddled with nuisance ads, others didn't have a smooth operation, organization or functionality I was seeking. Then came across Cashew the next morning. So far, this has been a revolution from my note and likely to make a full replacement after this pay cycle test! Nice app team!!!

This app is REALLY powerful when it comes to options for your budgeting. I have the subscription on the app which is really cheap, only 1.47US, you won't even feel bad for such amount when you have this lifesaver. In the budgeting section I did the 50/30/20 rule, therefore I have 3 budget sections. When you're going to create a budget, PLEASE read the instructions, I was stuck for more than 2h trying to configure one of the sections so that it acts how I wanted. Click (?) once in the budget part

I've been slightly annoyed by the daily prompt to ask me to buy premium, I have zero need for the premium version of this app, the free version provided everything for me and I'm sure most people. id rather pay 3 dollars for what you give for free, with no more prompts... like over a year later, I still can't stand the begging to buy premium when it's unnecessary, just add features, lower the price or make a tiny payment to just stop annoying me. good God

I've tried several budget tracking apps but they're always too simple, too complicated, or impossible to use without a subscription. cashew is perfect for me! not too complicated, you can use it perfectly well without a subscription. I did end up getting it tho so I could add several budgets I wanted to track. I'm a big fan so far!

i have been looking for a budget friendly app for dummies, aka, people who don't want to put in the effort to calculate the expenses for the month! After messing around with the app for a few minutes, I immediately got the life time pro and worth it! I'm glad the app lets me sync to Google so if my phone dies, I'll still have my account and everything. the money tracking app is cute, simple, and gets the job done. :}

This is a great app! It's more than fully functional with a great UI, with a fair plus cost and lots of customization and no ads. I have one minor comment (request?) and that's that I would love to see more functionality with transfers. It would be useful to schedule and assign goals to transfers; i.e. if I have a recurring transfer set up into a savings account with my bank, it would be great to be able to schedule it, or assign money towards a goal when moved to savings.

BY FAR the best budgeting app I've ever used. I've gone on a kick trying to find the best app to use for the past few weeks, and I didn't have this one for probably more than 20 minutes before I deleted all my others. This has all the features all the other ones don't, literally for free. It does have a premium version, but it is extremely cheap ($1.49 a month), and it's really just for some more customizability features. Also worth mentioning a tutorial would be nice for new users.

When this application works, it works great ! However, it doesn't always work like it should. Quite often, I find myself having to re-enter several transactions multiple times because they are not saved. Also, they don't sync very well between tablet and website. Quelle dommage ! Update : Every time I try to use the application, it insists on adding deleted transactions every time I open it afresh. I am very unhappy with this application and I maintain that it deserves ONE star. Thank you.
