Reviews for CBS News – Live Breaking News

Forever UnLimited

I don't like to write bad reviews but this is the worst app you've had so far. It takes me 10 minutes to find the weather you did away with a perfectly wonderful weather app for no reason or just to get all your cities and lockstep, reporting the same viewpoint. Why can't you have a separate weather app so we can watch forecasts on demand?

McDonald's pop up/breakthrough ads now make it impossible to even scan an article. Unless there's an update to solve this problem, I'll have to give up on CBS news.

I like the content and layout but the headlines are cut off making it so that you have to tap on it to get the full headline. At first I thought it was just my phone but I have other news apps that the headlines fit well.

Update: One of the recent updates has totally resolved the issue I had with ads, would now absolutely recommend! Original Review: The ads are insanely invasive and only about 1/4th of my screen ends up being the actual article. The news group itself is solid though. Edit: Unfortunately the videos can't be closed when they're playing ads, only after the ads are over

The content is great, but the app has annoyances compared to others. Video boxes follow you as you scroll taking up screen real estate and making you close them on every single article. Also takes up cell data when you don't need/want it to -- if I wanted video I would have clicked on the video tab at the bottom. Ad bar at the bottom of every page is persistent, in addition to scrolling ads on pages (other apps have only scrolling ads, which is a much more pleasant experience). Not a joy to use.

When you scroll down any article an ad pops up that takes over half your screen and has no "x" to close. After randomly clicking the ad many times you'll find the hidden "x", but it's incredibly tiny and hidden behind the "Learn More" hitbox. I understand it's free / ad supported, but I would gladly pay to remove this very predatory ad. It's very disruptive getting redirected to another page on every single article I read when I attempt to close the ad, I'll be moving to another app.

This app is not user friendly at all. If I wanted a news app, I would have downloaded a news app. I wanted a weather app, but you stopped supporting the old one and are forcing people to switch to this. Weather and local information should be easy to get to. I spent 10 minutes digging just to find the local weather, and it's not as detailed as the old app.

Simply awful. They play the same commercials again and again and again and again... ad nauseam. They even play the same commercial multiple times between videos. What morons are running this app? They also send push notifications listing news that when you click on the notification, is nowhere to be found. Good news coverage. Ridiculously bad app. Fail

This app has been great in regards to looking at news. However, there is often a lot I want to bookmark and save for a later read, but there is a bug. I can't have more then one article bookmarked. If I have more than one bookmarked, then leave the app and reopen it, the additional bookmarked articles disappear from the "bookmarked" page. This really hinders my experience.

I've been looking for a news app that is succinct and has more articles that I can read rather than videos. I can read a lot faster than I can watch. This is the best that I found so far, but it still has too many videos for my liking. At least a single headline does not take up the whole screen, and I can catch up on the top news quickly. But my biggest complaint is that when I get a phone notification from this app and click on it, it takes me to the main CBS video which doesn't have anything to do with the actual notification. I've given up on that feature, and turned CBS News notifications off.
