Extremely useful and can't thank the creators/managers enough for the regular work and research that goes into keeping everything up to date. An addition that could show some benefit even is to add a permit option for active duty military. There are states that do not have constitutional carry but allow service members to conceal with nothing more than their military ID, such as Ohio.
Reviews for CCW – Concealed Carry 50 State
← Back to CCW – Concealed Carry 50 StateBought this app in 2014 Now it's a subscription. Was a 5 star now a 1 star. Very disappointed, you would think with all the new concealed carry people it would continue to pay off for all the extra work you have to do on upgrading your app. This is uninstalled quicker than a bullet leaving a gun.
Used to be a nice app then they changed their user interface. The guy who thought up this one should be fired as it appears he has no idea of what concealed carry is or what is important to the user. Sorry guys, after 10 years or so of using you great app, you lost me.. will not renew as their are other easier to use apps out there.
I'm one of those users that purchased this years ago when there was no subscription fee. I understand why you might feel a need to now charge a on going fee since you do a good job maintaining the data.....but you should have considered a subscription version with added benefits instead of charging folks who bought it in the past. I realize we're not talking about a large sum of money, but its the principle.
Had other apps of this nature for out of state travel. Needed an updated version as the one I relied on, previously, when I carried occasionally hadn't changed in over a year... I'm carrying 24/7 now and stumbled across this app looking for updated law. Now I don't think I'll ever have to look again! Worth exponentially more than I paid.
This is a great app. However I bought what my understanding was a one-time, i.e lifetime subscription in 2013, in other responses they've lied claiming it's always been a yearly .99 cents subscription. I purchased it for 1.49 in 2013 and have never paid 99 cents for a yearly subscription. I'll probably pay only because of Google rewards surveys.
I have been a subscriber for many years. I find the app extremely useful. Especially when traveling I use the reciprocity map to plan my trips. I just renewed my carry license and compared the reciprocity map on the app with the official state website, and found a discrepancy between what the app indicates and the state website indicates. It's still a good app, but take a few minutes to verify the info, especially when it comes to reciprocity.
in just the short time of purchase, I have found not only how useful it is , but how easy and simple it is to navigate within the app. This is a very well done app with ease of you and updated to help keep you informed. I find a must for a gun owner and I highly recommend this for all gun owners. Don't be in the dark and take chances. Get this app,you need it. Thank you team for creating this valuable tool
I love this app! I travel frequently, almost always with firearms. This app has given me accurate information as I travel for a number of years. Before I bought this app I read numerous reviews of lots of others and too often found some version of, "this is not accurate for my state." I have deliberate conversations as I travel (I'm a firearms and tacmed instructor) and find that this IS accurate.
It's okay. It's nice to have the actual law but it would be a lot more useful if they condensed things into bullet points (e.g. in "prohibited places"). Looks like they just copy and paste the relevant law for you to read and interpret. Also, not sure my app subscription should have already expired after 3 months - did not penalize the rating for this but FYI it MAY have expired early.
Great app that is kept up to date so I know any States I am visiting if I can conceal carry. Edit: paid for this app almost 10 years ago and was very happy with the updated information. But now you have to pay for a subscription, that's not right. Paid for app in good faith that I would be able to use forever. Nothing in terms about possible subscription fees in future. Was a 5 star app but down to 1 star for cost and lack of any updates since last year. Will move on to different application.
I have used this app for years and even purchased the app to support the developer. But now in addition to buying the app, I have to pay a subscription fee? I tried to contact the developer to express my concern about this and heard nothing back. I guess it is time to uninstall and look for another app to use. I will no longer be recommending this app to people I know. - a former user (Reply to Developer): I can understand you did not receive my email but my real concern is w/ subscription.
Money Hustle. I guess new app buys must have gotten too low. Bought this app 6 years ago, now the developer either sold out or decided a few million just aien't enough to keep the lights on. It's a nice app, very informative. I wouldn't trust it with my freedom. That said, I can verify my own carry laws, don't need to subscribe. Was a handy app when I bought it. Not handy enough to pay monthly/yearly.
Purchased this app years ago like 2014 or so. This was a one-time purchase price way back then. I only use this app when we travel a few times a year. I just upgraded my phone and now I'm getting a message about a subscription. Now I do like the app very well designed and really liked the updates. I just wish we could have been grandfathered in with the old purchases. Not sure if I will pay to renew yearly for something that I use only a few times a year.
With all the hullabaloo about guns, gun rights, ownership and mental illness, responsible conceal-carry firearm owners and ownership has been lost in the verbal fray. Recently, I found this CCW app to be a valuable source of information when discussing some some of those hot topics. The app is still deserving of a 5-star rating.
Very easy to use, I have used for at least 6 years. When originally purchased there was no subscription fee. I have no problem with a token subscription fee. Concealed carry laws are complex and constantly changing. And the app does a very good job of updating. I have four states weapons permits. I have a high degree of confidence that this app accurately informs me of my legal status.
I bought and paid for this app a few years back and LOVED it but all of a sudden I'm being told I have to pay for a subscription because mine expired... No thanks. I didn't buy the app only to be forced into a yearly subscription. It's been fun but time to find another app. I know it's only .99 cents but it's the principle. Forcing original purchasers to move to subscription based... Shame on you.
Why am I all the sudden having to pay a yearly subscription when I paid for a lifetime years ago. All the sudden it says my subscription expired. Really enjoy the app and definitely worth the $.99 a year, but I would think you would honor the lifetime subscriptions from the people that subscribed back when that was the option. From seeing the reviews there are others that think this is bad business! Still giving a 5 star because I do like the app and the work put in to keep it up to date.
Did I miss something? Had this app for over a year and didn't see anything about it being a subscription until now as i don't need to use every day. Great app for quick look ups but Google is also free without having to continuously pay. When going to location I feel that it should let you put in your area of interest rather than forcing you to use your GPS. Doesn't work either when I tried 5 times. Either way I feel it's a little intrusive to be forced to give permission for the app to use your GPS rather than typing in a zip code which I could be looking for other areas as well rather than my own. Lost two stars for subscription
Purchased this app many years ago for a fixed price. There was no "subscription" then. Now opening the app prompts you to subscribe. I wasn't going to leave a review until I scrolled through other reviews mentioning this and found the developer lying in replies saying things like "there was always a 2 year subscription included" and "there was never a lifetime subscription." These statements are disingenuous at best and outright gaslighting at worst.
