This worked amazingly well. Took about 30 minutes to get my wobbly fan completely balanced and quiet.
Reviews for Ceiling Fan Balancer
← Back to Ceiling Fan BalancerTried it on a 7 blade outdoor fan, blades longer than what the app would accommodate, just had to move the phone lower, worked like a champ, also it did take about 25 minutes to go thru the whole process.
I was beyond skeptical that this could work. I was about to throw the fan away as I had balanced many fans without any assistance of an app, this one would not balance. This app got that fan balancedbbetter than any other ceiling fan in my house. Well worth whatever money they charge for the app. Thank you guys.
Worked amazingly!! Was wondering if there was some way to determine balance using just a camera and saw someone suggest this and how painless it was. It was like, exactly the thing I had in mind, and sure enough, it worked like an absolute charm!
I've had a huge wobble in my fan for years that create an annoying noise. trying to balance manually has not been helping. tried the app. it took several trys but I finally got my wobble from the 40s to around 5. so yes this app really works!! only issue I had with app is getting to detect the black dot. make sure the dot is a white background and smaller than a dime. place phone 3ft away. too close and u get bad readings too.
Couldn't balance my fan myself and got tired of the noise of an unbalanced fan. Figured a couple of bucks was worth the shot if it could fix the imbalance. The app worked well. Did not get rid of all of the wobble but it was pretty bad and it made it much much better. Glad I purchased the app.
It's crazy how this works. You definitely need to read the instructions. I thought 🤔 it would just work with the camera seeing the blades. After several failed attempts I decided to read the instructions. It needs to track the center dot. AMAZING!
The dot tracking system doesn't work reliably regardless of position, distance, size, lighting e.t.c. Then if by some miracle it tracks the dot for more than 20 seconds, the blade tracking is "inaccurate". I wish I could have the hours of my life back I wasted trying to get this to work.
A little fiddley getting it to register the dot. Helped to move my phone closer, about 2ft away as it says it the app. Also, you can NOT just hold your phone; it needs to be resting on a stable surface. Once I figured that out, it worked perfectly. Fan is now rock solid.
A God send. I know it's just math and great camera usage, but it works so well it seems like a cheat code or witchcraft. Balanced my fan quickly and perfectly. There is NO way you could get the same results by just eye-balling it or trial-and-error. A must-have app for DIYers.
I followed the instructions precisely and the result was like magic. after reading the reviews of others, I decided to balance it at speed 4 of 6, hoping that the other speeds would be close enough. MAGICAL is the only way to describe it.
Fantastic app. Saved me hours. Could be a little more clear on exactly where to put the weights. Diagram wasn't clear if the distance was to the edge of the stick-on weight or the center of the stick-on weight.
Amazing app! My fans are completely silent now! I had a little bit of trouble because my fans were already pretty good (only 1-2 wobble) and I think the app got confused about what I'm even trying to do, but in the end the red dot to track the wobble was extremely useful in manually balancing.
Didn't work... App just says "Something Went Wrong" at the end of the process and I don't know what to do from here. Also instructions regarding the "clips" are not clear. Do you need 1 clip per blade and then supposed to add a clip to each blade as you progress OR or are you supposed to just move ONE clip from one blade to another. Anyway, I tried it both ways and got the same result...
Wow! Nailed it! I spent hours trying to balance this one fan. I'm generally handy and capable, but could not balance this particular fan. I even took slow motion video trying to see which blade was wonky. In the end the problem was I needed several weights on multiple blades... something the app sorted for me without issue. Easy to use. Perfect results.
the app works Great. instructions are easy to follow and it takes about 30 minutes to measure the oscillations of your fan. The balance weight placement was not perfect but that's probably due to my holding the phone freehand rather than placing it on a flat surface at the specified distance from the fan. by shifting the weights a few in either way, at this point it's easy to dial it down to zero balance if your ips don't fit on the blades, tape the weights in place until final placements
I was able to balance out my fan at the highest speed, but then at the slowest speed the fan still wobbled (no loose blades, bearings, accessories). The fan is mounted about 1.5 ft below a slanted ceiling, so there could be some chaotic turbulence issues. Unfortunately, this app requires the fan to run at higher speeds to properly detect. When I tried to balance the fan at a slow speed, the app repeatedly reported blade detect problems, or it crashed.
I really wanted this to work. It feels like it would be the right approach to balance my fan. I had a platform ladder and a camera tripod, so I thought I'd be prepared for smooth sailing. Unfortunately for me, I have an exposed beam in my ceiling directly above where the fan is, and it seemed to confuse the algorithm. Somehow I managed to get through the process and I wasn't confident of the results, but was unable to complete a second round. Just found devs email addr, will update review later.
works well but could use some additional tips. here's what I found to work the best while using this app. 1. just use a dime colored black instead of drawing a dot. I also used white masking tape to increase the contrast of the dime. 2. try balancing on medium rather than high. my fan balanced out pretty well on high, but the wobble persisted at medium. 3. use a steady table or ladder rung to get the 2' from ceiling fan required.
It worked really well and balanced my fan! It can be a bit finnicky to use in that it's a bit picky with how big the dot you draw is and can be a bit picky with lighting. I had to turn off the light on my ceiling fan and then point a different light directly upwards at the fan so that the app could see the dot and also recognize the fan blades. There was a bit of a learning curve to get started, but after I understood how it worked out was really easy to use.
