Don't get this app. I was charged after I unsubscribed. They don't make it easy to cancel your subscription so I wasn't surprised to find out I "supposedly" didn't cancel my order. I don't trust any subscription service that doesn't make it very easy for their users to cancel. Very frustrating. This is the second review I've ever written on the play store but i had to because this company is so frustrating and I want people to know.
Reviews for Chegg Study - Homework Helper
← Back to Chegg Study - Homework HelperI always tried to avoid paying for help whenever I looked up questions on the web. But since Covid-19 and the switch to classes now being online, it seems stupid not to throw down $15 a month for help. You can find so many results to questions asked for course work you are currently struggling with. Plus, it takes minutes to answer questions that haven't been asked before. It's worth the money. The app is so convenient and easy to use. Don't stress on your courses. Use Chegg!
I don't rate apps EVER, but this app has been incorrect too many times to count. It continuously gives me false information and makes me second guess myself constantly, which originally I thought was a good thing, but now I realize it was just sabatoging my chances at getting a better grade in the long run. Don't ever use this app, it will NOT HELP IN THE SLIGHTEST. I wish I could get my money back, even looking things up on Wikipedia would provide more useful information than this.
This used to be my favorite app. Now it's terrible. It's not user-friendly anymore. If there's a place to look up only my book answers, I can't find it. The only option I see is the AI lookup, which doesn't always generate an answer or the wrong one. If I leave the app to switch to my book or classroom page, I have to sign back in. It doesn't remember me. I have to get a passcode mailed to me that expires in 5 minutes each time. It's very inconvenient. The price also went up.
App never works. Can't look up questions because it says something has gone wrong. I've uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times. Tried using on my computer and it throws up a "Looks like you've reached your device limit". Go to manage devices and it allows no editing. Even on the device that I primarily use, it says the same thing and it's one of the devices listed. And I'm paying way too much for my questions not to be answered nor I can look up anything.
No way to get a free trial? Not even 3 days to try it out before you buy. Cheaper than some other homework subscription apps/websites but damn it's like paying for spotify premium a month still. For students, who actually have to pay for every cent of their college education, there are several other apps that are similar in content and don't require a subscription.
Very poorly developed app with several issues. I can barely use the website without it kicking me out every few seconds, and the app itself always locks me out as well. Waste of money, why would I buy a subscription if I can't use the material? I have emailed before to the support team only to be kicked out everytime I try to access the support page. Yes I tried it on Firefox, Google chrome, internet explorer, I've done the whole 9 yards. Horrible app, I wouldn't use it until it's fixed.
Only allows you to use the service on 2 devices at a time including computers and phones. 2nd computer? Nope. Lab computer? Nope. Tablet? Nope. On my Samsung S21+ if I'm working a problem with one of the video walk throughs and the screen turns off the app will lose my place and i have to start the video over. The "oops something went wrong" message comes up way too often.
Now chegg only allows someone to access their account from 2 devices. SEVERAL TIMES I HAVE logged into chegg on the same device and it says you have reached your limit to swap your device for the month. Therefore I cannot access anything. I paid for a membership but cannot access anything. If u use a different browser but on the same device that counts as a swap as well. They recently just added this to chegg. I HAVE NO IDEA WHY. But I don't like it at all and would love for them to take it off
After randomly logging me out they would not let me access my account. Talked to customer service twice to change email and they said they did. However, when I try logging on the "one time" log in code is sent to the old email, leaving me unable to log on. Customer service unable to help. So basically I was paying for something I couldn't access. Update: 5/30. They seemed to fix my account so I renewed my subscription. The second they got more money my account was again inaccessible.
It's ridiculous that my device limit means I can only use the app and not the website. The in app search feature is trash and it's impossible to find anything unless I Google it which means i need to be on the browser. I paid for my subscription. Limiting it to 2 devices is ridiculous and makes me re-think my subscription. I have a tablet, phone, and laptop and use each for different purposes. I like reading on my tablet, I like looking things up on my computer, and use my phone when on the go.
Was Great Until It Kept Blocking Me. I have never had issues before and it seems to keep saying I'm breaking the rules and sharing account and blocked me. When I am the only one who uses this app, account and phone. Nobody else has access to any of my stuff. Now they are telling me I have to wait 48hrs to get my account back. This app is starting to piss me off, why am I even paying for something that keeps blocking me. Especially when I need the app the most you block and say subscribe again.
The app and overall experience is significantly degraded from a year ago. They're trying to do some AI type stuff that makes it way harder to find user provides help. Bottom line, it's not good. I renewed my subscription after a few month break, tried it for five minutes, then cancelled. Customer service would not refund my money. Please, do not purchase the app or anything from this company
The service itself is great, but what's the point of having an app that flags you for high usage everytime time you use it, which then requires you to change your password. This service in general needs to allow 1 desktop and 1 mobile login, anything in excess can be flagged. Most people will use the desktop platform and the mobile application.
I was tricked into installing this app by the PC website which tried to get me to use the app in order to attach a picture to a question when it was hidden away somewhere else. It then registered the device without asking - removing a random other device that I was in the middle of using. It claimed I had the option to manage devices, but apparently I don't. I called support numerous times. They can see that it's missing from my account, but can't fix it. They will never fix this.
The device limit has broken not only this app, but the entire service, I only use chegg on my laptop but it keeps saying I've reached my device limit. I've reached out to the student advocates multiple times, and the issue keeps reoccurring. Now, I've reached out twice today, they said they gave me an extra swap but it wont let me change anything on 'my devices'. I pay $15 a month for a service I can't even use half the time.
I ducking hate chegg , it is very annoying to maneuver the website , the contacting customer service is just a maze and you can not even get an email. You HAVE to call if you have anything wrong and you can not even pause your subscription . I had to cancel my subscription instead of pausing because it only lets you pause in advance . Why would they not make it to where you pause immediately and can choose for how long . So many things I would change . I hate chegg and you should too.
I used to love this app, now it keeps signing me out while using it, and each time I have to get a 2 factor authentication code sent to my email. I've done this 5 times within 3 mins of trying to solve a problem. It doesn't even give you an option to get a text for the 2 factor. Good luck if you're not using a chrome browse. Chegg, please fix this and improve your camera function.
They limit the number of devices you can use. Fine. Two devices is my laptop and my cell phone. But then the app takes an extra "device" spot. So if I wanted to use the app on my phone and wanted to swap to my browser, that's not allowed due to too many devices. The camera to question is great. But it doesn't help if there are never any hits in the app and you need the browser.
While Chegg used to be pretty good, I find it nearly useless now. The app isn't very user friendly, especially on mobile devices. Typing in the app is inconsistent and answers often take several minutes to load before they're visible. The shift to AI answers was a major mistake. I preferred the certainty of the information from the textbooks. I also had around a week left in for my subscription and the app would not recognize it, requesting I resubscribe.
