Reviews for ClassDojo

Like others have mentioned, this app has stopped sending push notifications (e.g., when my child's teacher sends a private message or posts to the class). I've missed important health related announcements due to this. Don't know if this is just an issue with the Android app. Parents with iPhones don't seem to be experiencing the same problem. ETA: And yes, I have the notification settings for the app turned on.

I really really really need there to be notifications for when the teacher assigns things, because our class discussions sometimes correspond with Dojo prompts, but sometimes they don't, and because of this, I am always accidentally missing assignments! This is especially bad because the app doesn't always load or turn on, (though part of that might be because of the sketchy WiFi at school) and because of this, I often don't check for assignments by spending five minutes loading the app.

UPDATE: as of today 3/16/22 I finally rec'd a confirmation of my subscription. I do like this app. The Subscription is nice because I can see when someone has read my message, and I can give "points" to my kids, and if they reach enough points, they get an ice-cream over the weekend (or fun at the park, or the arcade...whatever). It's mainly so I can add more incentive for good behavior 3/12/2022 Just signed up "to unlock ClassDojo Plus" and nothing happens...tried subscribing with the annual purchase, and was supposedly going to get a 7 day free trial...and nothing happens (no email confirmation, no app notification...nada!)...may as well NOT subscribe folks ... if the issue is resolved, I'll update my review.

I love e idea of this app, however I just feel there is a slew of additional information, editing tools, etc. that could be incorporated. For instance, when delving out a child's 'reward' w/pic, one should be able to add caption. (similar to a social media post) Certainly a lot more things that could be helpful for communicating a "story" of sorts between teacher's, and the parents community as a whole entity.

I am having issues this new school year as well with messages/notifications not coming up. Yes, 'push notifications' and 'allow notifications' are all turned on. There wasn't any issues last year. Is it because there is a past year in there now? It's frustrating. I know others that are having this issue too. Can you help? Other that that, I love the app!

I really don't like the fact that I have to download yet another app just to talk to my son's teacher, and then to have to pay for it too, minus the limited user access you allow if you don't pay. I think that by teachers using this as a point system for children isn't the greatest idea. Although a point system can be handy and beneficial for the kids to work towards something; I just think it's one more thing the teacher has to do on a screen instead of actually paying attention to the kids.

Overall, I like this app. The main problem I have is the inability to zoom in on posts. My child's teacher posts a picture of the agenda for the week to save on her alloted clicks for the year. Every week, I have to screen shot it so that I can zoom in to read it. The same goes with pictures. It's annoying to screen shot a picture to just to see IF my son is in a picture. I spend alot of time going through my gallery to see which dojo pics are current/relevant. Let me zoom in for 5 stars!!!

Overall I love it, I've had it for multiple years at this point. The only downside is that so many more features USED to be available for FREE! Now the plus version is being pushed very hard, too much in my opinion. For ex.. I used to be able to give at home points almost everyday, even if it was a cap of 2 or 3, now you can't at all. You could see as far back in activity now you can't. I just can't believe so many awesome features were taken away!

I really enjoy using this app to communicate with my child's teacher and school. Two things I'd like to suggest: 1, adding a search bar. My child's school/teachers send several messages a week, it's so time consuming to try to find an older message without flipping through 30 first. If it's from more than a week ago, forget about it lol. 2, having a way to sync events and dates straight into your calendar. Overall, I enjoy it though.

Great for teachers, not so much for parents. I'm glad my kids can interact with their teachers, and I'm glad we can, too... But the app definitely has its limitations. It doesn't clear notifications (even when they've been checked). It's constantly trying to get me to purchase features (like nonstop) even though we only use it for their teachers' sakes. It's constantly sending random notifications and there's no way to turn them off (things that have nothing to do with our classrooms).

I've had this app for many years for both of my kids. it has always worked great....until a few minutes ago. I go to read a message from one of my kids teachers and the app FORCES me to crack an egg for a new teacher. I do that and go thru all the steps just to get met with a screen that refuses to change. I've pressed the button to change screens so many times and even hit the back button. nothing works. something needs to be done.

I Can't Believe Schools Use This.... it's adware promising academic success by paying for a subscription. Shameful. 'You Child's BEST Year' all for only $70 per year... They can say it's free, but the reality is that they are paywalling content that would help you as a parent, and then offering it to you, if you pay a subscription. They promise your child's best year - if you pay. They collect data from the teacher, in the form of 'points' and then sell you the feature of basic aggregation.

I think Class Dojo makes it easy to keep in touch with your child's teacher. I have 4 stars due to the fact that in order to use the app completely (all it has to offer, but it is NOT necessary, either) you hv to upgrade. I understand that but a school app, not by the school, but one they use, should be. but it's a business I understand. I love the fact that u can email the teacher and tap "urgent" and they get the email immediately. I hv had a reply back instantly. it's great.

I wish all teachers used this app. its fun, interactive, and easy to communicate with teachers. lots of feedback on schoolwork. point systems and rewards for kids, and online games with other students in her class. the app is free but you have to pay for a premium subscription if you want to do more things like give more points or get into the games for $10 a month. I refuse to pay for an app that should all be free.

I use a Samsung Galaxy to access this app. The app is convenient for schools to send out mass notifications to all family's, and has the ability to message school staff. However the app is inconsistent in pushing through notifications when they appear, so I have to go into the app frequently to verify I haven't missed anything. It also doesn't give the ability to search for a staff member to message them, they have to initiate the message.

I am forced to use this because my school uses this, and I'm always being asked to review it by the app, so here it is! It's fine for what it is but the lack of a search function is very annoying. Plus, the constant upsell for services that should be included is also not great. I'm not sure if our school district pays for this or if it's a "freemium" option, but I'd rather see a collaborative open source app for schools, rather than another education resource vampire app.

persistent advertisements to upgrade are annoying. first and foremost the app is supposed to be free. you only pay to add additional features. but the advertisement is made to appear like you have 7 days free and then you have to pay $69.99 for the year. if you find the x and close you get pestered for $34.99 last chance deal. well now that advertisement comes up Everytime I open the app. ridiculous. don't get me started on app security... it's flawed too.

Slow, buggy, expensive, does some things well. The app takes an age to load, over a minute sometimes, it's buggy I've just loaded the app, waited to start and the logo was the stuck over the app after loading. I get a notification, which keeps repeating every time I start the app for a post by a teacher 8 days ago which I've opened. You want people to buy the app, make it more affordable AND make it actually work.

The app is pretty medicore. It can be buggy and some features that should be free are behind a extremely overpriced paywall. The concept of the app is good. But it's not impressive. The additional features you get with the sub are not worth 70$ a year. Which is fine, I don't have to sub. But considering I'm forced to use this app by our school, a few of the paid features should be on the free side. Going to suggest a different app be used next year.

For the most part, it's fine. What irritates me the most is that every time I get a code sent to me, it creates a "new child" instead of just adding the class to an existing child profile. I currently have 4 active profiles for my son and 3 for my daughter. I have to go through and delete multiple old profiles every new school year. You want us to pay for the app to keep memories from years past, but I would have no less than 30 profiles between 2 kids if I saved them all! Just ridiculous!!!!
