This card is horrible. Been nothing but problems since I got it. Wont let me load my paycheck on the app. Says its suspicious. And closed my account. $3.95 to load cash. Cant load less than $20 at a time. $1 fee for credit purchases. $2 fee for debit purchases. Doesnt have actual customer service. Only an automated system that takes you in a loop. The "ingo" portion of the app, that loads your paycheck, doesnt even have a customer service #. You have to chat with a robot on the website. Trash.

I got a bigger sized credit from a refund we got and all of a sudden I can't use my card or my account. Then we try to call it says the info we put in is wrong so we can't even talk to anyone. App and online pulls up and everything looks fine. This is a nightmare. All the money I have is in that account and I can't touch it. Thanks a lot! Hope ya'll get it fixed soon!
I've banked with Chase, B of A, Wells Fargo, etc and NetSpend is the only service that I haven't had horrible problems with. I actually received a card after filing with TurboTax in 2014, once I downloaded the app and set up the msgs alerts I love how easy it is to track my spending. I have a small amount from my direct deposit put into my savings and it really adds up fast. I can load money at my neighborhood grocery store- no more extra trips to a bank (there is a $3.95 loading fee).
I'll say the same thing that everyone else is thinking... although I've had a netspend account for years, used it religiously and rarely had problems with it, the mobile check capture sucks. I rarely use it or rarely have a need to. However, when I call customer service, I expect just that. Customer service! And I don't think "good" customer service is too much to ask for. Just because you don't understand me, trust me, I can't understand you either! Need to be better communicators!
Been using card for 3 months now. Only issues I've had were a delayed (over 45 min)time loading cash and waiting for it to actually be available. Also, I tried Mobile check load twice, once for amount under $500 and the other over $1000. Neither were accepted (both personal and from reputable banks). Everything went through correctly too. Must not work with personal checks. Idk Also emails of transactions are 75% of the time the wrong amount. Glad I can check w/ actual app... I had easy time activating card. Wish it had chip.... I'm sure most of these issues can be rectified. Other than that, no issues. Be prepared for their fees.
I had to delete my app because after getting my account somehow hacked and added an unknown phone number so I can't login my mobile app. Customer service was awesome with helping recover and setup a new account, but getting back into my app they were no help at all. I was told to uninstall create a new username and password and I did but it was still saying to contact customer service. I did so and they didn't know what to do. So I can't no longer get into my app to keep track of my stuff.
Terrible customer service. Just opened an account and am immediately hit with a "restriction". Spoke to about 10 different agents, being transferred back and forth, each telling me a different story. No one was able to help me, most could not even see the "restriction". I assume it was a website error but after spending 2 hours on the phone and no one being able to assist me I have cancelled my account. Not a great start.
I have had the app for 10 or more years without problem's. then it crashed. it has not worked for me since. it just freezes up and kicks you off with a message saying try back later .I have done everything possible to get it worked out with IT with no luck. so I finally had to switch to another company discontinued NetSpend all together.
I just have to say I have been a loyal customer with netspend for over 4 years and I've never had any sort of issue. As of recently (the last 9 months) the functionality of this app has been shotty at best. For days now, with zero customer support mind you, I have been entirely unable to access MY money. Don't waste you're time.
The app is just ok for checking your balance, but here's some things that reflect the real value of the app. It's slow to respond & hangs very often. My actual banking app isn't even this slow & it needs to access more information. There's a ridiculous amount of popups for a prepaid card app. It's usually things that you already opted out of. Why be so annoying? The last point is that the digital copy of the physical card does not show any numbers on the card. Just a blank??? C'mon, do better
I've had my card for about 10 years, recently the app won't let me log in, now I have money in my savings account that I can't access because I can't log in, everytime I call the IT, I get put on a 30 wait list just to wait for over an hour and eventually hanging up. Going to switch to another company and cancel my netspend.
This has been a difficult journey...for the past two days I haven't been able to access my online account resulting in not being able to access my monies due to a "glitch" in the system! Customer service responded with " we realize that there's a "glitch" in our mobile app technical services are aware so just keep checking in a couple of hours " that was over 24 hrs ago! Not good!
I locked my card with a $0 balance, then saw a $5 monthly fee hit it anyway. I never signed up for a monthly plan, and there was no warning or way to dispute it in the app, telling me to contact their number. This feels like a hidden fee—nothing was clearly stated when I activated the card, otherwise I would have taken notice and not made an account. Now I’m in the negative for a card I barely used. Be careful—NetSpend can charge you even when the card is locked and unused.
Don't use Netspend until fixed! Writing this 6/15/2025 For about a month, I have not been able to log in on the app. I called them and was told, "Yes. It's not working." That was over 2 weeks ago. Now, an auto-pay for a subscription keeps coming back as "payment rejected" so I have to call them to find out why and have them fix it. I don't like not having access to my financial records. Absolutely ridiculous! I'll have to find a different prepaid card. 😡😤
Used to be great. Easy to load cards. App made it easy to manage money. Now it's horrible. They have been having a technical issue that makes it impossible to log in for 2 weeks or more as of 6/4/25. I get notifications (via text) from the app that tells me my balance, the amount subtracted or added, and a brief name of transaction. For some people, that may be enough to keep them happy. Not me! I want to be able to open my app and manage my money.
Used to be more star, but as of the end of July/beginning of August 2025, the app won't allow me to log in. I'm also not getting consistent notifications and can't see anything to be able to fix it, so now I have a negative balance. Shouldn't they alert users when they are having issues so we are aware and can figure things out just in case?Money in their pocket at my expense.
it's a fine bank. the transfers are nice and easy and I like how you get paid a little early, however logging into the online portal is ridiculous. I'll try to login and it says it accepts both my username and password and then just loads back to the login page. the only way for me to access my account after this happens is just calling the number but then you can't see your pending transactions through the call. and the customer service line has a ridiculous wait time to get ahold of anyone.
08/2025: App will not go past the login page, plus, when I could check my transactions the name of the place of business where I made a purchase would only display the bottom half of said name, making it hard to confirm charges. I would have to manually open each charge in question in order to be able to see their name, instead of guessing. I've tried reinstalling, but it helped nothing.
I've been using NetSpend for 20 years. Used to upset me when notifying me about a purchase. Holding my shopping up at the time. I'm sooo glad they have that service. All the scamming going on. I've been saved hundreds of dollars by their notification process. All I had to do was check yes or no. Customer service is wonderful. I've only had a couple disputes and was reimbursed every time. One dispute was over $300. It took the 90 days but worth the wait. Wouldn't use any other bank.
One star because zore stars isn't an option. I've used Netspend for 5 years now. for a few days, I haven't been able to view anything when logged in. The AI help is just plain non helpful at all. I keep getting the same "something went wrong" message. When I click "retry," I get the same error message. When I click " return home," nothing happens. I don't know if I'll even get paid today because of this major issue. I'm seriously thinking of taking my business elsewhere after this.
