Not worth the time to download this app, not matter how many times ive uninstalled and reinstall it. Unless your interested in looking at the books they offer on the home page, fat chance if your going to find the one book you want through the search engine in the app. It never loads anything, no matter the word or words used in the search. It just keeps loading or comes back with no results. Whats the point of having a library app if it doesnt pull up any books in the search.
Reviews for CloudLibrary
I've only used the app to play audio books, so I don't know how good it is for ebooks. The audio book keeps playing in the background when notifications arrive, so you'll miss part of the book while notifications are played. The task bar player lacks a play button, so when you pause playing an audio book, you won't be able to resume it without opening the full app. The car mode crashes frequently, and there are no buttons for fast forwarding or rewinding; you can only skip an entire chapter.
This is perhaps the worst app I have ever had to use for reading digital content. A move to a new area meant a new library and this is their default app. I had previously used Libby and loved it! Decent selection of books, awful dictionary, app is buggy...I could go on, but most people using this don't have a choice anyway, as it's the library who decides. Avoid if you have the option.
App has trouble finding books/authors using the search function. One day the book will show up when searching, the next day it just spins and spins until it times out or says the material can't be found. App is also inconsistent with saved lists. It takes a really long time to load them, and when it does finally load, sometimes all the saved books show up, sometimes only a few of them show up, and other times the books show up multiple times. It's very finicky and unreliable.
The Audio Reader has gotten a lot better than my previous review. The book search could be better, especially when I'm following a longer series. The choices seem to be related to the library, not the app, so I've been fortunate to have good selections. One of the worst problems is the data size. It is by far taking up the most space. When it returns a book, does it delete the downloads? And there is zero support. The help says contact the library, but they have no idea about technical issues.
Often, the app glitches when I try to view the homepage. If I click "trending audiobooks" it will bring up a blank, white page. I have the same issue when using the "search" option sometimes. It will say nothing is available. After I restart theapp, it's there. Also, I would love to see how long I've read/listened for the day. We have reading challenges in our area for kids and adults, and while we speed up the narration, I'd like to see how much ACTUAL time has been spent reading/listening.
I love my library, I love getting audiobooks through my library. But Lord, I cannot love this app. For version after version it is crash after crash, bizarre unresponsiveness is the default mode it seems. I fight to get it to work and have to expect it to behave poorly. I hope my library isn't paying much for this app on top of the royalties for the media because if they're paying a premium, no one is getting their money's worth.
The selection of books isn't great and you can only have 5 books total between borrows and hold. On several occasions, a book I had on hold went from available soon to on hold for ANOTHER 30 days within hours. I never got the option to actually borrow it. I only use the app in the rare case they have a book available that Libby doesn't. I wish my local library went back to Libby.
a fairly new addition to my library, so order books aren't readily available & new books may (most likely) have a hold time upto a year or longer. You can only "hold" 5 books for the wait list. I have gotten a few books where I didn't like the narrator's voice, so now I listen to the sample before getting a book. It helps. It'd nice to have options for audiobooks without having to pay for them.
Good points and Bad. I use Cloud Library for audio books. The player is fine, though it could use more flexible rewind control. CL selection is much better than Libby, but that may depend on your library. Libby has better search and tag. One big downside, CL is a HUGE space hog. It used over 25G for recordings. It needs a control to delete the downloads; I don't need to keep books I listened to years ago. I had to track down an obscure data folder, delete files manually and hope nothing broke.
