Impossible to watch. I get alerts all day & when I finally try to follow one to a live feed, I get 8 minutes remaining of "free preview" (?), which counts down by the second through 4 minutes of 11 (ELEVEN) ads. Seriously? You expect me to watch 4+ minutes of ads to get the remaining 4 minutes of content? You need to talk to somebody about what apps are for.
Notifications don't come through. I have them all on and I don't get a single notification until I open the app, then suddenly I'll get literal dozens at a time. If I got for more than a week without opening the app, once I finally do it gives me so many notifications it crashes my phone. Sounds like not many others have this issue, but it's very tiresome.
I use CNN Go on my FireTV. But the app occasionally crashes, and it always seems to be when I'm in the middle of a show. This wouldn't be as infuriating if the app would have some way of keeping track of my progress in shows that I'm watching, like other TV apps. But it doesn't. So when the app crashes, I'm forced to start my show from the beginning. And fast-forward doesn't really help because I can only fast-forward through the program and not the ads.
I used to love this app and the notifications and emails I got all day to update on the latest news. Like others, when you open the app, it's a black screen with a logo and you have to force close it and try 2 or 3 times to reload. This is annoying and cumbersome for something that used to be so simple. Additionally, I have stopped getting email alerts entirely since the last update despite checking and resaving my email preferences via the app and the website. C'mon CNN .... what happened??
Like others have indicated, since the last update I have been unable to use the app. I keep getting an "Unexpected error" message and am told to "try again." I have gone as far as uninstalling and reinstalling the app, which worked...once. Guess I will have to read my morning headlines elsewhere until the problem is fixed. Pixel 3.
I would like to be able to listen to live broadcasts without having to stream the video with the screen having to be on. It kills my battery and wastes data. I've suggested this a while back in 2018 but nobody listens. When i'm at work, I want to listen to the c n n app and your broadcasts on my headphones. My phone would be in my case. About 1 minute later, the broadcast stops playing in my headphones until I take the phone out of my case, illuminate the screen, and hit play again. Fix it!!!
I used to like this app. It used to work perfectly. Now the videos won't load. I went to YouTube to make sure it was not an internet issue but that loaded immediately. Also if I'm reading an article and I get called out of it for some reason such as a text or a phone call, I cannot pick up where I left off. When I go to my open apps it starts all over from the beginning of the new feed and then I have to find the article that I was previously reading. Only 500 characters to complain!!!
I appreciate I can get reliable news at any time without a subscription fee. However, the ads play before nearly every video clip and are so extremely repetitive it gets maddening. Also, when I accidentally get taken into the "Live" TV section, when the time runs out, I'm unable to get back to the site. I have to turn off my phone, then on again to get to any other CNN story or any other application.
It was a 5 no problems at all now suddenly the last couple of weeks I can't get in so it's a 1 - useless. I receive a message saying "Unknown error try again". Tried all the usual solutions - uninstalled and reinstalled, turned then phone off and on, I even talked with my internet provider and they said it's definately the app. Are you going to fix it?
Several times a day it will not load. Uninstalling and reinstalling fixes it for a few hours. After finishing an article and backing out, it goes to the top of page rather than staying where you were reading. These and other problems have been reported for a long time, but no fixes. Fox, NYT, WP and others don't have these issues.
