I've tested a bunch of home/DIY apps and ColorSnap® Match is one of the better ones I've tried. The color matching tech works pretty well, and I like that you have the option to use the Pro device for even more precision. It's not flawless, but it definitely takes the headache out of trying to find the perfect paint color. If you do a lot of painting and remodeling, I'd say this is worth having in your arsenal. Just be prepared for some minor bugs and issues here and there.

Description

Been using the ColorSnap® Match app for a while now and it’s a pretty solid tool if you’re into home improvement and DIY stuff. Basically, it lets you scan the color of any surface and it’ll match it to the closest Sherwin-Williams paint color. Kinda takes the guesswork out of picking the right paint, you know?

There’s a couple ways you can use it – you can either just scan something with your phone camera, or there’s a separate ColorSnap® Match Pro device you can buy that identifies the sheen as well as the color. And i’ve found the Pro version works a bit better, but the phone scanning still gets the job done.

Look, if you’re someone who’s always painting and redecorating, this is definitely worth checking out. It’s not perfect – the color matching isn’t 100% accurate sometimes and the app can be a little glitchy – but overall it makes the whole paint-picking process a lot easier. Definitely a handy tool to have in your DIY toolbox.

You have to purchase a hardware component for this app (camera?). This is totally unnecessary. If you use a white calibration sheet, such as white printer paper, any modern phone...
