Great app, limited by purchase. 4.99 a month is ridiculous. .99 a month would be understandable. All the good stuff is hidden behind the paywall. Otherwise a great app. Edit: you'd make more money if dropped the price. People would be able to afford it. $4.99 a month is ridiculous. That's the price you should pay for a one time full access, not a month. I'd rather have ads for this price. I mean, you don't even offer a trial to see if the full features are worth it. You can't even move anything
Reviews for Concepts: Sketch, Note, Draw
← Back to Concepts: Sketch, Note, DrawDo not even bother calling your app free when you make all the artist essentials an item that needs to be purchased. We're only given such a small list of tools which makes me have to wonder what about this app is so much better that it should be downloaded compared to other editors? So far I see maybe one thing, and the cons outway the pros. The only way I can justify keeping this app is for doing line art and then moving it to another program! Oh wait. Gotta pay to save pngs!
There are plenty of art applications out there that are free. For absolutely everything you have to pay 9.99 for a set that in itself is not that bad but then you have to pay additional 4.99 MONTHLY if you want the essential pack and other things. 30.00$ a year for brushes that are most definitely free on other apps. I would understand if there was somthing new and interesting about this art app,but no there is nothing new or interesting they bring to the table.
So far it gives me almost everything I need to make art and I love the smoothing feature a lot! One thing I would like is a bucket feature or a way to fill in an area with any color. The current "fill" feature just allows you to place a filled-in shape in the photo, but it isn't convenient when it comes to filling in an already existing area. Otherwise, my favorite drawing software. 9/10
The paid version is so worth it. The unconventional workflow takes a little getting used to, but it is a very powerful tool set. I love that the canvas is boundless, or if I set an art board size, I can draw past the edge. I like setting "finger action" to "nudge". Now I can quickly draw with the stylus and immediately make an adjustment with my finger, without having to select a different tool. I'm impressed!
I love the color wheel. Matching them to Copic colors was a nice touch. The one feature that's missing that keeps this from 5 stars, is being able to measure and dimension. I draw furniture and woodworking projects and being able to scale, measure, and dimension drawings is holding me back from fully loving this. Otherwise, definitely one of the more polished apps.
Could easily rival sketchbook if line and ellipse guides were free. I appreciate that it's such a well made app, but it's ridiculous to put making a straight line or a circle, pretty basic sketching tools, behind a paywall. At a glance this is easier to use than sketchbook's mobile app, and feels otherwise pretty intuitive. If "3/4 of the app" doesn't even offer basic composition tools, I'm leary to even buy a little $5 upgrade to unlock... most of the rest? Worth trying, idk about buying it.
This is my favorite drawing app. The infinite canvas is ideal for situations where you don't know exactly how much space you'll need, but it wouldn't make sense to split it on to multiple pages (e.g. a mind map). I use it quite a lot for playing table top role playing games. Recent improvement of being able to save to internal storage is huge for me. Using an app called OneSync, I am able to sync the folder on my Android to OneDrive so everything is available on Windows also.
The Android version is very difficult to use. I love the tool wheel and color wheel, however I have not been able to draw anything. Everytime I pick what drawing tool I want to use, when I press down on the canvas, all I get is the plus sign symbol. I'm assuming this has something to do with the layers option. I subscribed, but I will be unsubscribing. Please make me Android version more easier to use.
It's a great drawing app. However, they really limit the tools you can use if you're not on iOS. Even with the pro version, you don't even get simple things like favoriting your colors to find them easier. On their site, they do have some options from IOS that they are starting to implement for andriod/windows, but pallete options just seem to have no support at all.
Really like the app. I use it both on my phone and computer with graphics tablet. It's a great combination of being both simple and easy to use, but also having enough features to produce quality content. I do find that sometimes when I open it the app has 'forgotten' that I have access to the pro features which is really frustrating. Also would be good to access files between my phone/laptop Would be great to combine shape guides for more complex precision drawing.
Bought a bad stylus for capacitive screens. I mean it works as it should but as it should, it comes with a lot of jitter. You've probably seen the stylus I'm talking about. it has a blue light and it's on Amazon. Concepts has the ability to stabilize strokes, without any input lag at all from my experience (Galaxy S20 FE). In conjunction with this pen, it works so well. Just find the sweet spot for you. For me it's 18% stability. it feels as if I have a normal pen that works.
My favorite drawing app so far. However, there are some issues that I have. As I got further into my drawing, my phone crashed frequently. It was almost impossible to move the screen at the end. Additionally, the default pencil and all of the pencils other than the mechanical pencil had this issue where they would randomly smudge. Finally, the app ran in the background for several days after I closed it and drained over 1/4 of my battery until I force stopped it. That said, I love it.
Just a heads up if you have a 2016 or older tablet. I loved the app, bought the add ons, and it became my go-to drawing app. I just paid for the app AGAIN for Windows so I could work on my Concepts files on my PC. After the last update, the Android app crashed every time I tried to resize anything. Tech support was unable to find a solution so they told me that my 2016 Samsung tablet is just too old. Too bad I can't go back to the previous version.
Honestly amazing app. I've drawn more with this than with most other apps I've tried. The infinite canvas makes it easy to treat as a sketchbook. That, and the one time purchases make this an easy five star. That said, I have just one thing I'd improve. I think that being able to zoom in and out infinitely would be very helpful. At this point, my drawings take up more space than the max screen size. Maybe a button to zoom to contain all content would be good.
The free version is ok enough for doodles, but not much else. It is not possible to buy a full version of the app. The most you can buy is an "Essentials" version that gives you only a few extra tools, and only for one device. Everything else is locked behind a subscription. It fits my needs enough, but I'm disappointed I can't just buy a copy and be done with it.
Free version is not vector. You can only draw freestyle. There's no line, circle, rectangle, or other shapes to use. If it had shapes and the ability to manipulate it, I would have at least bought the vector pdf export version for $5.00. $29.99 is too much money, especially since a reviewer said it's possible to loose your one time payment. I hate knowing I could loose my lifetime payment and nothing can be done about it. I will not recommend this product to anyone!
I'm still a learner, so I haven't fully unlocked everything this app can do, but as far as I can see, this is the ultimate mobile app for creative purposes! I have a Galaxy Note, so it pairs perfectly with the stylus! One improvement I hope the developers add, since built-in-stylus' are becoming more common place, that we can plug into a monitor for Samsung Dex to see and use the phone as a drawing tablet! Devs, if you see this, please include me in the beta!
This originally was getting 5 stars from me, but after waiting I changed. The reason I'm giving a lower rating is because it's VERY restricted on a free plan. It would probably be a 5/5 if I payed, but not free. you can only import 5 ref photos, across all drawings, tools are restricted to 6-7 (w/ erasers), the tool bar is a little strange to use, though adjustable, but the layers are weird in when you dec opacity on one and merge down the layer merges at 💯 opacity again. Overall, not for free.
Such a great way to get into digital art, and to design sketches of characters, scenes, etc. But if I had to change a few things, I would probably get some more flexiblity in the app, like with the number of imports available, it seems unfair to give people the ability to sketch freely, but to not give them any availability to put in references for sketches easily. Another thing, is that it feels like a finished art program, and the eraser is broken. Thank you, and sorry I couldn't fit more in.
