The CU app is slow, however, it's improved some in past weeks. I bumped up my rating to 4 stars cuz the food is truly amazing! Clearly, this gang of chefs works hard to create a wide range of meals loaded with great flavors!!! Comparatively, Cook Unity creates a broad menu of delicious entrees that are somehow almost basic, and yet, uniquely restaurant quality. Other services we've had, seemingly try too hard, offering many exotic entrees that often miss the mark completely.
Reviews for CookUnity - A Chef Marketplace
← Back to CookUnity - A Chef MarketplaceThe app functions great. Easy to pick your meals, etc. After trying many meal subscriptions I gave Cook unity a shot. So far it has been my favorite so far. So many options and everything has been delicious! The containers the food comes in are also oven-safe and so much better than the microwave. Highly Recommend!!!
I placed my first order, selected 8 different meals, and got an order confirmation email listing those items. Today I got an "order confirmed" email listing 2 each of 4 meals, NONE of which are what I selected. Customer service, when I'm not getting dropped from the chat, just gave scripted answers until I begged in all caps for them to transfer me to someone who can do something more than read from a script. After an hour in circles, it got resolved to moderate satisfaction.
Cookunity offers the most delicious meals I have ever tasted from any prepared meal company. I have tried many meal kits from various companies, and Cookunity stands out. I highly recommend it to anyone busy and looking for better meal options for their lifestyle. The app is user-friendly; you can easily browse the menu, make your selections, and that’s it!
Cookunity saves me so much time and gives me so many options to choose from when it comes to meals. So far, I have absolutely loved every meal I have ordered. I did have one mishap with one order where it was delivered, and my order was swiped off my front porch. other than I have no complaints. I will give absolute thanks to Cookunity for their excellent customer support.
the food is actually phenomenal in a lot of cases. I mean real quality. many of the meals consist of Greenbeans, so that's a thing 🤣 but they got bigBack food too. Glp1 options and things in the middle as well.. I've been pleased with the experience. Especially cooking for 1 ... less mess and saves time.. you can microwave or use oven. Both ways equally delicious.
I love how unique all the dishes are, as well as how customizable the plans are. It reminds me in advance to verify that the pre-selected options are something I'd be interested in trying, as well as tells me when my meals are delivered. If there's a meal that's not to my liking (like a spam dish, no thank you), it's SUPER EASY to swap. The prices are great, perfect for my budget. I love coming home from work and not having to think about dinner.
Enjoy this service quite a lot! I like that if you haven't placed your order, it will select things that you might like -- I've found your a few new favorites this way. One downside to the app is how counterintuitive it is to mark meals you don't like. I always forget how to do this and struggle to rediscover it each time. I wish there was a 'don't like' button next to the 'favorite' button for ease instead of having to search for it.
Two weeks in. I've enjoyed the food. I left Factor a few weeks ago because they completely ignored me when they didn't send me a Premium meal, had been charged for it, but never received it (I still have not been contacted) I don't think I'll be back. Cookunity has better variety, portions seem larger and more filling and unlike Factor it isn't mostly rice and mushy grains.
service itself is great, I've tried a few meal services in past years but when I discovered this, I was surprised at how it both tasted better and was cheaper. not only thay, but there's an insane amount of options compared to some others, no longer will you look through only 25-35 meals hoping to find something new and tasty...I struggle to pick all the ones I want in one week. as for the app, it works well, I only remember a few times I wished navigation and user-friendliness was better
I've tried Tempo and Factor before I learned about these guys. Cook Unity has so much selection and the quality is outstanding. You won't be disappointed. Everything is totally top shelf. Now in the app though, could you add a search feature in the menu so I could find the 2 order of the Lion's Head meatballs, that would be awesome! I know you probably rotate the menu, but there are certain things that I wouldn't mind eating every week. Like those nummy nummy meatballs!
Excellent experience... I find the app easy to navigate and it offers a great variety of foods. We're not talking about fast food or general food items, we're talking about first class 5-star meals which are fixed in minutes either by microwave or oven. These are meals well put together. You will always find them fullfilling in every way.
What’s cooking?... not me! I’ve been meal prepping for about 15 years, always a hassle, but not anymore. I was skeptical at first, but I’m officially a fan. I’ve tried other services, but CookUnity is on another level. The app is super easy to use, ordering is seamless, and the meals actually taste amazing. Huge variety, simple to fit into my macros, no cleanup, just eat and toss. They’re also great about running discounts, which makes it totally worth budgeting for!
Great food and program, app and website need work. Weird interface where it builds your cart for you, and it's tricky to delete everything and then get back to where you can add the meals you want again. it's gotten a little better over time, but still doesn't sync with what you're doing through the browser. So frustrating if you have 2 people trying to pick their own meals. browser kicks you out all the time and deletes your items, so that you can't meet your order deadline.
This review is about the app, not the food. The app is terrible. Getting around and finding things are difficult. The app and website are different. Finding help was near impossible. It takes much longer to find dishes than it should. With over 300 choices per week, it is imperative that the choices and search engine are flawless. They aren't! They do have icons on the dishes that have items with ingredients you want to avoid. Tapping it is supposed to tell you the items. They don't!
Some app features I'd like to see: 1. Sort meals by Protein 2. Filter selected meals: While scrolling and adding meals along the way, I'd like to then filter the meals I selected so I can increase/decrease without having to "Continue" 3. Compare meals: I added all meals that look interesting to me as I go through all the options. I selected more meals than my plan so with a compare feature, i can easily compare meal macros and make my choices faster
the food is amazing. I use it primarily to save time, so I just choose meals that look good. everything has been restaurant quality at the fraction of the price. surprisingly good even after it's reheated. I also tried factor for a week before CU. factor felt more like grocery store ready to eat meals. CU tastes like restaurant food. the app itself can be kind of buggy when navigating from page to page but it does what I need it to.
Excellent selection of meals. I've tried Factor: zero variety and only about 25 meals to choose from. The same over and over. I don't have the time for Hello Fresh or the others. I have the meals delivered at work and co-workers and customers smell the food and ask what I'm heating up in the microwave. The only downside is sometimes I forget an order is on the way because I picked my meals 3 weeks ago .. and then I accidentally go grocery shopping. But most of the meals freeze nicely.
The food is good and the prices are alright. The app, however, is terrible. Problems I've encountered: 1) If you change your delivery date, your cart gets emptied, forcing you to go back and reselect each item you want. 2) If you change delivery location, all your favorites get deleted. 3) There is no option to sort meals by calorie count from low to high but not high to low. It seems the devs think literally everyone is on a diet and is not an active person in need of a larger meal.
I don't have much negative to say. Tons of variety for food choices. I was able to find meals that fit my dietary restrictions. Got to experiment and try some new cuisines that I've never had. Notifications were handy to remind me to choose my meals; and in the event I forgot, the meals chosen for me were all tasty. I guess my only gripe is I wish it could be cheaper haha. Amazing service.
