Reviews for Coursera: Grow your career

Just to be clear: this review is for the coursera APP, not the coursera courses themselves. The courses are great. The app is terrible. The lesson never starts without a "whoops, restart the player" message, with no explanation why the player won't work. Then if I do get lucky and the player works, the video ends up freezing 30 seconds into it. I like courseras programs, but I can't do them away from my computer because of these problems

Previously five, had to bump it to four. I don't know what happened but learning between app and browser would mess up the progress I made between the two. For example, I completed two lessons for the week of a course I took in the browser. When it was time to continue on a lunch break -within the same course- nothing was completed. Incomplete quizzes, watch time reset, and past weeks undone. I would have to redo everything. Logging out and back in doesn't update my progress back to normal🧐

Be careful when signing up for the free trial of Coursera+ during the $200 promo period. I did so and now they are trying to make me pay the full price, stating that it is only available to new accounts, despite my account being less than a day old and in the free trial period. Customer support through the site has been entirely unhelpful, insisting that my account is not new and is therefore not eligible. Don't do a free trial unless you want to pay $200 more for same thing.

This app is horrible. The video player does not work at all. Half the time it will only play audio. The other half of the time the video will stop playing and start buffering several times in the middle of the video, even if I've fully downloaded the video. I then have to "go back 10 seconds" to fix the issue. I have 1 Gb/s Internet speed, so it's definitely not that. What am I paying to use this platform for when competitors like Udemy exist and have working video players?

So far, it's an easy experience. The app is easy to navigate, and the lessons are a cool "at your own pace" style. The biggest issue I have is not everything (especially tests/quizzes) is viewable on tablets or phones. Not everyone has access to computers these days, as portable devices are what people prefer. It'd be really cool if the app got an update to support small screen viewing on everything the app has to offer.

Got a free trial, only to not be allowed to take courses unless I cancel the trail pay 39$ a month and $150 for each class. Why advertise free certification if it's not free? Won't give me the option to cancel. Followed the steps, and still won't let me cancel the 7 day trail until I pay the monthly fee!!! I have to wait to be charged so I can hopefully get a refund. What a waste of time. Scammers.

I was working on a UX Designer certification, and I was paying $40 a month for it. The courses were great until one day, all of a sudden, I got on, and all my work and the courses I had finished were missing. It was/is SO difficult to find a way to contact Coursera, and when I did reach out multiple times, NO ONE responded to me. It really pisses me off until this day how unprofessional and scammy this program seems to be.

I used to use this fairly regularly when it was all free. I was disappointed to log back in after a while and find that most courses require payment now. I guess I understand it since these are very high quality classes, but for someone who is just learning for fun, I'm now much more inclined to just do some google searches instead. Good app if you have real set goals for learning though, and I am glad they've allowed continued free access to the courses I'd already enrolled in.

Coursera is the worst, do not recommend! I was charged multiple times even though i tried to cancel my account. They offer a free trial, then sneak in payments without notifying you. Most free trials work like this: you get a notification before youre charged. Not only that, but the class i took (for 1 hour) was so unbelievably basic and low level. Definitely not worth paying for. I am now out $150 for a course that i studied for less than an hour. Avoid coursera AT ALL COSTS.

This app is phenomenal. Who needs to pay to learn something when you can do it for free? If you do pay you're paying for a certification/degree. I love the app and I'm sure it will end up saving me time and money. One thing I wish you could add though is like a "For Later" playlist so I can keep track of courses without enrolling in them right away. Amazing app.

I have really enjoyed learning on Coursera. Their customer service is a completely different story. I was double charged for a service for over a year. Trying to get a refund is an actual nightmare. The platform is great for learning. Just make sure you check your subscriptions regularly, or you will get to live this nightmare with me.

This app is great. I get to continue from the website to my phone. I don't know what others are saying about quizzes having just 1 question. I experienced that once and thought I should update the app which fixed it. One downside would be that it doesn't sync when going into the course. I usually have to exit and go back into the course or app for it to actually sync. Also, it would be great if it didn't automatically mark an exercise/reading as complete when you didn't actually complete it.

Following my course was made smooth sailing thanks to this app. Only problems that I had was that the Android version doesn't sync immediately if I were to continue the course on another device. It can get frustrating if you don't remember the last video you watched. Another is that the app doesn't keep track of how long you watched a video, only if you completed it or not. I can watch 14 minutes of a 20 minute video, quit, and then come back to have the timer start back at zero. I did love the video quality, though.

There is so much problem in transaction policies. I had recently enrolled in one of the courses here. I had set autopay options and I have the required amount for the course but it is continuously showing Transaction failed in the app. This is such a problematic situation, I can't even do the course since it is showing transaction failure no matter what kind of payment method I am choosing.

I purchased a plus subscription but most of the time the app does recognize the subscription or my enrolled courses. it's challenging enough to make time to learn, and then you find out the so isn't working. it is very challenging to get any value out of this is app/subscription when it isn't working properly when you need it to. support has not been helpful as they seem to be ignorant of the problem even after sharing screenshots.

Another predatory subscription service. I've replaced my credit card twice since I stopped using this app and still got charged. Cancelling and removing my payment (a credit card number I haven't had for two years) was also difficult and took twenty minutes. For reference, cancelling a Hulu subscription takes me roughly two minutes max. Refunds are issued only if you're within 14 days of purchase so 🤷 nothing to do. Will never use this service again.

(Only reviewing the mobile version of Coursera) Could be better. doesn't do a good job of "capturing notes" and can't copy and paste notes on mobile. Harder to see the full module, deadlines, and the progress one has made. Could do a better job as a whole, but definitely is convenient if you don't have access to your laptop.

This is one of the best online degree apps I've used. Huge selection of courses to choose from, & set ur own pace. If you get busy , reset your due dates, it's that simple. Customer service is exceptional. I can't wait to start my next class. Coursera is a game changer for getting a college degree. I HIGHLY recommend using this app. They also have funding & grants so APPLY TODAY!!

I actually love this app, it makes tracking my courses easy. I usually tend to download the entire course on the app and view the content simultaneously while applying on my laptop. However, the last update made the app impossible to use, especially the thing it was designed for, which is tracking courses and viewing and downloading the content, the entire "my learning" section is practically unreachable, i hope this changes soon.

The phone app stopped loading any of my courses. I sent a message to them about five days ago with an offer to send screen recordings of what was happening, but I haven't heard from anyone at all. The only way to see the courses again is to delete the app, reinstall it, but then I still can't download anything at all. I have been watching these on my way to work, but if I can't do that then it sets my progress back. I paid for Plus. It was great until a few days ago.
